It has been a couple of years since I last viewed. What a truly amazing story. Reminds me of why I continue to run at 74 years old. And I run in sandals, and I run, run, run. God bless all who care about this world and what makes this story so special, so meaningful.

The only bad thing about the book (Born to Run) is that when you finish reading it is such a good read that you want a second part of the book and there is no second part.

I was Caballo's neighbor, I remember the day he came in for breakfast and said that he had an idea to create an international marathon in the canyons. We hiked to Urique and back together. I never thought it would become so big!

'....around 1980 i travelled with Micah True from Belize City to Merida (Yucatan, Mexico). Along the way we stopped at Tulum beach. We did a five mile run along the beach- just for fun. Later in Merida i watched 'Gypsy Cowboy' spar at a non-descript boxing gym with a local contender. From memory Micah introduced me to the late and great Jose Napoles. He seemed to know everyone around and they loved his goodness. Micah offered me a job back in Boulder, Colorado as a removalist- i choose instead to go back to Belize City for a few more mosquito bites and losses. I never saw him again. Years later his obituary turned up and reconfirmed what a truly great and good person he was (and is). When i make it to the other side i hope to see him and maybe go for a run which is a form of prayer or meditation. God bless you Micah you sure are one of the good guys...' I liked it so much that I stayed and ran bare foot on Tulum beach for six months of a planned year of travel away from the UK. His is a great story for all the right reasons.

I came across this beautiful book that I continue listening to "Born to Run". And that's how learned about Caballo Blanco, I am just fascinated by this real life story of his life and how single handedly organised all these amazing people together to run this amazing race in the copper canyon it's just mesmerising. He inspired me to run, run barefoot. I am deeply saddened that he passed, may God bless his soul.
Thanks for making me meet the Legend, the lone wanderer of the high sierras. 🙏🏽

I am really touched by this, one thing I am sure, and is that he improved the life of all the people he was in touch with.... including mine now. His soul may rest in peace, now running in heaven. I really don't think it was a loss, because people like him live eternally in the minds and hearts of his friends.

"if he couldn't run, he wasn't so happy. He's just have to always be out there. Not because I have to run to be in shape, to be a better athlete. It's like this is the way I pray, this is my meditation, this is the gift that I give back to God and mother earth by blessing her path way with my feets, and that's the gift that we should all appreciate"
My gosh, I am passionate about running and I don't understand why. This explains it so well. It's a religion. That's why people are so crazy about it. The only way to give gifts to God in this religion is to run.

@@macree01 My own subjective conclusion is that running for ego or glory is like a drug addiction, but the bad side is ultimately a major psychological let down if it consumes a life.
However, those who run for the joy of it, if they don't become victims of poor shoes or the like, it's a liberating thing with so much goodness that outweighs the risks. And those risks can be fairly minor in contrast to the risks of just living life. A person who seeks to avoid any and all risks is someone with no life at all.
