but I know that feelings. Happens to me to when I'm in between learning languages. I was driving my bike in hungary and trying to use the few hungarian phrases you learn in advance for those trips (like yes, no, pleas, thanks, my name is ..., I don't speak hungarian, and so on) And 'Si' is just what my brain defaults to if everything else suddenly stops working. Sometimes even when I am in germany but have just seen a movie in english or read something in english ... for whatever reason I default to si.
Ist mir auch schon passiert, ich wurde im Disneyland Paris auf englisch gefragt, ob ich eine Tüte brauche und ich einfach so "Si". Aber der Typ hat gelacht.

Conner Sullivan you often say "nein Salat" or "Nein Spice" or sth. like this. But with a noun Behind it you have to say "kein" or "keine" ( kein Salat) :D Just a little help. I realy Like your Videos
So maybe a little tip for you if you order for your friends again: Have them write their order down for you and you have to order it at the counter. First they should write it down in german, so you would just have to practice the tongue itself, then, when you're comfortable with the words themselves, they should write their order down in english and you have to translate it into german directly at the counter. I think this would be a bit easier on learning the actual language. The way you do it now is more a memory trainning - which isn't bad, but it's less learning the language than remember what your friends said to you.
Anja Fink technically its right but i dont think any german would pronounce the e as clearly as you would in ben. Maybe shybn would be slightly closer to what youd commonly hear but im not quite sure how hed pronounce that so yeah :D
ich hab mich beim ersten mal subway einfach genau so angestellt wie er. und ich bin aus deutschland :D es sind auch einfach viel zu viele entscheidungen, die man auf einmal treffen muss! haha
Ich hab bei meinen ersten mal mich auch so verhalten aber normal ohne diesen Akzent und ich geb dir recht da ist viel Auswahl und die Entscheidung ist sehr schwer
Wow,i am german and i think you are learning fast as you can and good as you can. You are doing good man. (sorry for my bad english btw :D) I love your Videos!
Leonie O'Brien what I meant was that "squirrel" is hard to pronounce for us Germans and "Eichörnchen" is hard to pronounce for americans or english people.😂
In "Everything's good for now" the "for now" would usually be translated to "erstmal" (so something like "for the first time" as in when you'd continue, you are going to add more like a second or third aspect). So you'd probably say "Das ist erstmal gut" or "Das reicht erstmal" ("It's good for now" or "It's enough for now"). But you're getting so good at German, that those are only details and it's really entertaining watching you learn our language 😂🙆
Such a friendly and respectful guy. He really is improving. It's fun to see him practice hard and often and share his struggles and success haha Keep it up Conner👍👍👍
agenthoini I disagree. "for now" can't be translated as "für jetzt" since this is no good German. Good German for this is "erst (ein)mal". "Alles gut erst einmal." seems to be just acceptable, yet. But it's not good German at all especially because the meaning of it is so random compared to the meaning of the English original of "All is good for now."
Lars X well true für jetzt wouldnt be used in german but if conner says it most people would probably understand it. Alles gut für den moment might be better german; although not fitting in this context but generally acceptable
Dude you're gettin real good at speaking our language. Keep it up! Lots of love and respect to you and your fellow viewers from Lübeck (small town between Hamburg and Kiel).
I think it would be helpful to attend a german class once or twice a week to learn more vocabulary and grammar (how to build sentences etc.) at least for the beginning to get an understanding of the concept of the Language On the side you could still practice your real life situations with Pickle and Charlotte :)
This is great as both of you learn how to speak each others language and when you speak another language abroad it is appreciated even if you aren't fluent. 😁
I think you´re actually making it harder for yourself to learn german. Just learning random words without actually understanding the language is just unnecessary risk. You can see what I mean when you had to ask for Scheibenkäse. You already know what Käse is and if you "understood" the german language and structure you would be able to figure it out by yourself. However, your effort is amazing!
First of all I love your videos Connor! You spread so much positivity and you motivate people to get out of their comfort zone to achieve whatever they want to achieve. And it's true what you say. Before I came to the states I thought my English was already pretty good but when I arrived here and I actually had to talk to people I got sooo nervous and forgot about the simplest words. I was forced though to go out there and that helped me a lot improving my English. Also, for one month of living in Germany and without taking any classes you're doing pretty good! Keep it up and you'll get better with every day. Please keep uploading videos, cause you make me smile and you kinda make me miss Germany (which is not a bad thing haha). It would be awesome to hang out with you cause I really like your personality! Anyways, mach weiter so und bleib wie du bist :)
So unheimlich sympathisch 😍 und es ist schön zu sehen, welche Fortschritte du machst. Ich bin sehr begeistert und ein neuer Fan, definitiv! Es ist auch schön auf wie viel Unterstützung er trifft in Deutschland !

Pickel is wrong: "All is good for now." doesn't translate as "Alles gut für jetzt." It's more like: "Soweit reicht das erst mal."
