    Well, for more than one decade I tried so many tutorials and workarounds to achieve something like that, but it never was as perfect as your idea! Since many of your steps are well fixed, I put it all to an Action-Automation and now finally can quickly create awesome comic strips! Thanks so much!!

    Very good, straightforward technique and well-presented. I applied it to a nude and found the banding to be a bit harsh. I softened that using surface blur and some other techniques. Turned out great.

    threshold won't remain where I slide it to, it reverts back to 128 every time.
    "grab the brush, grab the white."
    wish this was this simple for me, but for some strange reason, when I go to do this the brush tool changes to the dropper.

    What else can I use to smoothen them out?

    In this particular photo are you using 300 resolution. If I’m using lower or higher resolution would I get the same effect?

    We have Adobe CC2019, I don't see the oil paint under filter. Do you know where I will find that?

      Have you looked under the "Filter > Stylise" menu option? That's where mine is.

    i am using adobe Photoshop cc 2017 but here i could not found oil paint in filter.i also search in stylize but here oil pain option did not work.so can you plz suggest me what i can do for get a similar result?

      try checking filter>stylize>oil paint and see if it's there. I thought I didn't have it either.

      I use CS5 & don´t have it there. Try to install, but it´s a pain... Never get ready :)
