Even Nikita is upset about Ro's death, and the fact that Ro voted in Nikita against Roi in episode 3 but Nikita didn't go after Ro, showed that Nikita did care for Ro and didn't want to see her die. But it had to happen, it was either Ro or Nikita.
I will give Manny credit: he was happy to have won the strong man challenge but realized it meant Matt died and it clearly showed he was upset about it. He wasn’t going to rub his victory in to much and it showed he cared.
Even when he said "for the record, strongest one here, full face of makeup." He was both hiding the fact that he was sad about mats death and was showing the fact that he was proud that he was the strongest one, also with a full face of makeup.

It was only going to kill a person if they touched it before it was cleaned. Once Ro cleansed the artifact, she could touch it again.
