This exact procedure only applies if the system has not lost any oil. Actual conditions differ. This does not apply if the system has had leaks which resulted in oil loss, which often is the case that causes compressors to fail and a replacement required which could have decreased the overall oil amount in the system. Example 10PA series pumps / I ensure about 100ml goes in every compressor that I physically fit in the car. Run the system once various loads, then let idle with A/C on for a while at high fan speed which tends to return more oil to pump. Recover and remove compressor, then check oil. If very low, you know you will have to add a decent amount to actually balance the system. Example, a system with a large leak could only have a very small amount such as a few drops or maybe 5ml come out of the compressor and the rest of the system may have had hardly any oil left, you sure as hell don't put a brand new pump in with that low amount of oil in. As such doing the oil balancing in this case would give you a overall low oil amount and in this case the right thing to do is add 120ml of oil in - keeping in mind in some large or custom systems you can't add the entire oil charge for the system in the actual pump if need be and you have to split it into another component. Also 120ml that comes with the new Denso compressor (allthough it might physically work and perhaps still last) is not the correct amount for the whole system this is wrong, many systems have much more than 120ml , often 160-230ml in the entire system, often if you read many Toyota service manuals from many larger cars you will see 8 ounces is common spec.
my compressor came with the required amount for the "compressor. my 3 once. my system requires 20. I'm replacing the accumulator, cleaned the condenser. I'm having to guess what's left???
My compressor seal went ,but I saw the spot of oil on the floor under it. Haha ,I figured to pour out oil on the floor and measure that to see how much was lost 😂 Otherwise it'll be a crap shoot, hopefully I can get it close, and close enough to live.
Why on earth would anyone service an AC system that did not ever leak in the first place? This procedure seems reliant on a preventive type of care that cannot be practical or reasonable to most owners. In reality, AC systems are only worked on when they are malfunctioning. Breaking the seals (and shraeder valves) almost guarantees a future failure anyways.
BMW and many others are running into this issue with 1234yf The early machines did not have an "inject oil" feature. So every time someone recovers the system a little oil is lost. eventually there's no oil & the compressor fails, especially on EKK systems.

Questions: That small plug on the bottom of the unit where you drained the oil, is there a seal on that plug that must be replaced if disturbed? The plug on my Denso unit also looks unusual, as if it were a safety relief valve of some sort, is that the case? I drained my unit thru the line ports by holding it line ports down over a container and rotating the shaft slowly until all oil stopped flowing out, because that seemed to work OK and I was not sure about disturbing that plug. Then I refilled it the same way thru the suction line port, again no problems.
Hi, Thank you for your query. The pressure relief valve must not be removed. The process you explained sounds correct. You should also turn the compressor by hand before fitment and follow all fitment run in procedures by the car maker.
i, I am replacing my compressor, condenser, dryer and evaporator (all Denso) in a 1990 toyota pickup. It was converted from R12 to 134a many years ago. Will the new compressor ( DENSO 4711142) have the correct amount and type of oil in it for a 134a system? Also, how do I determine the correct amount of 134a to add? Many people online say to add between 75 and 85% of the R12 amount. Thanks.
There was only 30 ml of oil in my old compressor. The new DENSO compressor comes prefilled with 7.4 oz. Is it possible that the rest of the oil is still in the other AC system components? That seems like a lot of oil. Shouldn't most of the oil be in the compressor?
Some Ting Wong with this advice. On my 05 Ford Escape the Ford spec is for 7oz. of PAG46. I replaced the accumulator (held almost 3oz. when old one was drained), condenser, and flushed the system . I installed a new Denso 471-8135 compressor, which their Denso spec sheet claims it came from the factory with 1.5oz. of PAG 46. This video is saying the 1.5oz. already in the new compressor is all my new system needs. That would leave me 5.5oz. short. Any warranty claims aside, that advice would cook my new compressor in short order.
Picked up a DENSO compressor for my 2006 Honda Civic Sedan along with what I understand to be the most common components to do a replacement (new condenser, drier, and expansion valve) and insure that I'm not cycling any old junk in the lines through the new compressor. Will be getting the system evacuated of all coolant and oil before replacing these components. The only thing I'm not replacing is the evaporator, which is a major pain to get out and replace. Am I understanding correctly that with the system evacuated and these 4 new components, oil balancing will not be needed? e.g., New compressor, condenser, drier, and expansion valve means the oil in the compressor is adequate for the system? Or will I be off and need balancing due to the evaporator not being replaced? 🤔 Thanks!
The NEW compressor may come with more or less oil than what your system calls for. It's best not to guess and flush everything that is not being replaced to remove all the old oil and contaminants. Look up your car's AC system oil requirement and make sure you put only that much in your new compressor.
@@innocentbystander6 Thanks for the reply! It's interesting because the compressor I got came with a tag that says, "Oil balancing is NOT needed when installing compressor on the vehicle A/C system." Hi, The growling sound could possibly be a few things but I suspect that you will need a new compressor. Oh yeah, sure. I've been using Denso products for years and have never had issues with them. Toyota, Honda, and several other automakers use parts directly from Denso. If your Denso compressor broke after 15 days, it's because it was installed incorrectly or there were some other factors.

@@densoaustralia136How often we should change oil in the car's Life time if there no leaks or replacements till now 12 year old car with 100k miles run with AC on?
my system is 15 years old, when do you change oil or add ?
Only when replacing components. If nothing has been changed and everything is working, then you don't need to change the oil.
@@genericusername1365thankyou. I was looking forward for this answer
But doesn't compressor get oil get contaminated with metal particles after constant friction over 10 years or 1 million hours of usage. (If nothing fails)
@@cowsgoloka I replaced my compressor at 185K miles. I now have 443K miles and I haven't done anything to the AC for the last 258K miles. It's the same oil that's been in there since then and it works fine. If you do the job correctly, then the oil will last a long time. I installed a Denso compressor, replaced the drier desiccant, pulled a vacuum for 1.5 hours, then properly installed the refrigerant without any outside air entering in the system. If you do it correctly, it will last a long time.
So what if the old one is broke down already ?
Hi aladwani mr, An approved car A/C repairer will be able to assist you and advise on components that will need to be replaced.
ehy there is no oil level site glass in ac compressor?
Toyota camry form 2012 to 2017 the ac condition fail early. My car Toyota camry 2017 with 61000km compressor fail because pcv valve jam because freon and oil become dirty and black color so I change compressor with condesor and clean tube and now it is OK but I am worry same problem come early again. I think cluth compressor better than this compressor like in camry 2005
The old one FAILED how can you trust just adding Same amount?
What if I took my old compressor and had no oil and my new compressor has 3 ounces of oil and requires 11 what should I do
Hi, Drain the system and fill, that is the only way to be sure of the amount of oil in the system.
Empty it and then fill with the correct amount.

Denso AC compressor for lancer ex ???
👍👍👍
❤
So what I gather from this is if you have a compressor that failed due to no oil, drain all of the oil from the new compressor so it fails too. that's why denso is still in business. I'm going to error on the side of caution & just install my compressor with a full charge of oil.
If your old compressor failed from no oil you would have to flush the whole system which means you would have no oil remaining in the system anyways. So in that case yes you would install with the full amount of oil in the compressor
Toyota Nippon Denso are the best quality products and will out lasted the genery motors AC are poor quality if you 2summers you are doing well

Hi markavellys, For refrigerant charge and oil amount it is best practice to always refer to the Toyota manual listed for your vehicle.

Hi, The growling sound could possibly be a few things but I suspect that you will need a new compressor.
Any unusual noise from a compressor is most likely cause by internal damage, you should go and see a reputable car AC repairer. Lack of lubrication and refrigerant can be one cause for compressor damage.
@@ajvtacoma hey Did the problem resolve...
Old compressor had blown oil out,the new Denso had no oil what so ever,I ask to two mechanics one said 7 oz The other 5 oz Called Denso they said 10
Hi Rodney, DENSO compressors should contain oil.
Would you be able to share the part number so we can check the specification?
@@densoaustralia136 Already been on the phone twice with Denso
How much oil?
This video tells absolutely nothing.
IMO wrong... the amount of oil inside old compresor can be not right.
it should be write on new comressor how much exact compresor need oil.
If you ever try to get info on how a Denso injector pump actually controls diesel fuel flow via the vehicle's ecu then you will understand why I hate Denso! Don't bother trying to ring them for info, you won't get it!
I bet my man’s a murderer in his off time.
Who else thought this was going to be a woman lol... no offense Danny! ✊
Hi
I am work AC
Denso compressor not good
BS.
Your compressor broke after 15 days of use, your company is a bad company
Oh yeah, sure. I've been using Denso products for years and have never had issues with them. Toyota, Honda, and several other automakers use parts directly from Denso. If your Denso compressor broke after 15 days, it's because it was installed incorrectly or there were some other factors.
That’s so fking dumb. My old compressor is low on oil from a major leak. How the fk am I supposed to have the proper oil amount in my new compressor now. Gfys
You need to flush the system so there's no oil left. Then add the full amount for your car
@@neil121886 haha true. I fixed the leak myself, recharged it and sent it. It’s a 94 ls400, hopefully the system doesn’t fail on me 😂😂 no more leaks. Ironically I had my favorite car my 01 tundra taken to the mechanic to properly get a quick easy ac leak repaired, and it’s still leaking
Why "pretend" to pull it off the vehicle.... 🙄
