Michigan Gold Prospecting

Got out playing in a creek today. Found a couple of specks of gold(flour gold).
Did you know that most of the rivers/streams in Michigan have GOLD in them? Michigan also had a few gold mines in the upper peninsula. The most famous being the Ropes gold mine.
You will never get rich or be able to live off of the gold you find here, but it’s FUN to play around.

Nice... What area you from?... Im gr area... Been prospecting in Michigan for about 3 years now and find good gold for glacial till

This is from the Allegan area. I only scooped about 8 shovels to see if there was anything there. Found a couple of specks of flour and will be heading back for a couple of hours.
There is about a 20’ stretch of 3-6” in rocks. Also some black sand on the bank.
Lots of gold on the north side of GR!!! I’m planning on working a few of those spots this year.

@Yoboy Bigsexy gold has been found in 83 counties in Michigan. Find a gravel/rocky area in any creek/river there and you will find gold.
