    STOP WASTING CONTAINER REPAIR SPRAY
    Ok, this tip everyone gives about using repair spray needs to stop. It repairs the box protecting the item inside... NOT THE ITEM ITSELF!!! Spraying just before turning it in does NOTHING....well it wastes your spray, so save it for a rainy day...literally. Your rating is based on the item's condition, not the container's condition. I have turned in hundreds of packages with under 50% on the container condition left and got full likes.

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 года назад +23

      This is correct. At the time I didn't know and it seemed like it did take container condition into account.

    • @mrbadpersonality
      @mrbadpersonality 4 года назад +20

      So basically it needs to be used during the rain to minimize chances of the container failing right?

    • @samkiernan8878

      @@mrbadpersonalityTry and get under cover when you do though, cause it's less effective in rain

    • @darthsalad6211

      A fully repaired container... gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever.

    • @hurmzz
      @hurmzz 4 года назад +12

      Container spray is only helpfull in the beginning of the game as later on timefall shelters will take the job of fixing your containers. And yes containers do offer a very clear and obvious “tactical advantage”. The container protects the stuff thats inside, which means a damaged container will protect it’s contents way less when the item damages (like by dropping it) A 100% damaged container still seems to protect it’s contents against timefall while you are carrying it in most cases though.

  • @dacheson007
    @dacheson007 4 года назад +140

    I keep seeing people say to use the repair spray right before you turn in, but this is a waste of repair spray. The cargo condition that you get rated on is if the cargo itself is damaged, but all the repair spray does is repair the container that the cargo is in. Meaning repair spray should be used to keep the rain from completely destroying the container and then moving on to the cargo inside. Using it right before a turn in doesn't make sense, since it can't repair the cargo, and the people in the shelters don't care what the box looks like, just what's inside it.

    • @nathanmcbow158
      @nathanmcbow158 4 года назад +9

      Yeah i have noticed this too. It clearly says that it fixes the box, not the cargo. While fixing the box might prevent damage, it does not fix the cargo directly. Just reinforces the box so the cargo inside is more impact resistant. As such repair spray still helps, but use it in the MIDDLE of a run, after wandering through timefall for example.

    • @terryp2442
      @terryp2442 4 года назад +3

      So true. Better off using the spray once or twice during your trek to ensure the insides are safe all along, not just the last 4 steps before handing it in when it's already too late lol

    great tips! One of the biggest tips I can recommend that I don't see many people talking about is level up your connection with "the collector" as soon as you can. He's kind of hard to find but close to the distro center south of lake knot city. Once you level up your connection with him he gives you a VERY useful upgrade, a backpack cover that protects your cargo from timefall and the cold. It's one of the best upgrades I had, especially in the later parts of the game.

      I wouldn’t say it’s the right thing to use ladders on, if you have an Active Skeleton on you can pretty much jump over most rivers where ladders could go across. Use those ladders for vertical traversal and to safely walk across chasms.

  • @Lokieclipse1
    @Lokieclipse1 4 года назад +59

    Cannot stress enough the importance of floating carts and good planning. The amount of roads you can build and orders you can complete on a single mission are insane.

    • @GuardianCitadel
      @GuardianCitadel 4 года назад +4

      Carts are like small, offroad trucks that don't run on batteries. They pair well with every frame too. Their downside is that they are effectively foot-speed vehicles, so can't be used with vertical ladders or ropes, and are terrible for long-distance transport. A motorcycle is faster, a truck carries more, and you can't take them across zip lines. This means they are only marginally useful in carrying bulk cargo across terrain too rough to get a truck through, which is kind of niche since most sites have at least one healthy road access point.
      There's almost no situation where they are useful, except for unlocking the mountain region before setting up a Zip-net, or doing the cargo supply run for Lake Knot.

    • @Lokieclipse1
      @Lokieclipse1 4 года назад +2

      I used both carts on ropes and ladders all the time. As long as you’re careful and it’s not a straight drop and you place them correctly. Just try not to overshoot the ladder by ten feet or make the rope go down an overhanging cliff and it worked for me the entire game until we got our highway built.

    Thank you for pointing out what all the people at IGN and other review sites somehow fail to realize.... Tip 2.
    All I see is their gameplay where they have an immense amount of gear stacked on their back as they run down a rocky hill/mountain, while it's raining and they complain about slipping and how its not accurate. It's so silly that one of the most accurate things about the game, is what is getting it low reviews.
    I personally love it. Thank you for defending that.

      I was on the fence about getting this because of all the negative stuff everyone was talking about with the traversal. "QWOP" + Walking simulator and stuff like that. The truth it's nothing like that. It's much more subtle, but if you play it not having the least respect for the mechanics, you're going to have a bad time.

    regarding the hematic grenades: it's often more practical, especially in areas normally hard to navigate like the Wind farm, to just put down all your cargo except for grenades and blood packs as soon as you enter a BT area, walk forward until one grabs you, then beat the mini-boss. this clears the area, and your cargo will be fine..you can go pick t up after you kill the darn thing....and get a nice big cluster of Chiral crystals for your trouble..which you WILL need a ton of in chapter 3 when you start building roads. just don't wait too long after clearing an area, because they WILL come back.

    I’ve got a good strategy for raiding mule camps for road materials. The first two mule camps spawn ceramic and metals. So you want to place a safe house down between those two camps. When you’re raiding a camp, park your truck right in the middle of the camp, load it up, take it all to the safe house and recycle it. Then do the same with the next camp. When you’re done with both, retrieve the ceramics and metal in the densest possible size and put it in your truck. This way your truck can hold crazy amounts of materials. But you will probably want to split them up again closer to where you are building so you don’t waste materials.

    My Tip #1: Don't bother with other people's lost cargo if you are trying to build Connection-level with a site or center. If it has a players' name on it, you get ZERO npc credit for turning it in. Instead, you get Likes from the player. This can be good for farming Bridge Link level, but not good if you're focused on unlocking those 5-stars. You MIGHT be helping another player out IF they entrusted a Standard Order, but not if the lost cargo was picked up off the ground at random.
    Tip #2: Right tools for the job. Don't carry unnecessary equipment, and pair equipment that work well together for the run you're making. Power frames work well with bikes (fast), sleds (a power frame and two sleds are only outdone by a truck), and Ziplines (really fast). Speed frames work well with sleds in offroad conditions and with combat gear. All-terrain is mostly specific to snow and rough terrain, but pairs well with sleds in those environments if you aren't using Zips. Trucks are only good along very well established routes in fairly flat regions or along roads.
    Tip #3: Go by foot a few times at first to pick out your favorite route. Don't bring anything that needs charging and may need to be abandoned if the route is too long. As you follow the same route multiple times, it will 'clear' rubble and obstacles and eventually make way for much more comfortable vehicle traffic later. Nothing feels jankier than first-timing a run in a truck. This largely goes away once you have access to zip lines, but it's good to get a feel for the land before building some stupid bridge only to find a cozy walk-around ten meters farther down.
    Tip #4: There's almost always a 'flat route'. It may be tempting to stock up on ladders and ropes, but more often than not, there's a route for vehicles to access the place you're trying to go. Sleds and trucks can't go up ropes and ladders, so look for those paths and 'wear them down' to create a footpath.

    bro.
    when i first started i was walking back and forth between capital knot and the waystation, loading up as much cargo as i could between the two. i’d stealth through the lone BT area and pick up lost cargo along the way until both stations were near max connection. then i moved on to the distribution centre and kept going between the 3, often risking ridiculous loads of cargo because of the MULEs. at that point i still hadn’t gone to the wind farm cause i heard the forest was a bad area but once my boots started wearing out i felt like i had no choice but to go to the farm to get the ability to make my own.
    i also got the generator pcc and everything basically tied together so that i was able to achieve max connections to all possible facilities relatively quick, and i was surprised when the rain stopped and all BT areas were clear for approximately 12-15 hrs. i used that time to complete around 40 standard orders+more deliveries between the distribution centre, waystation, port knot, ludens fan and the wind farm.
    i didn’t know i had to keep my bike in the garage because i didn’t know where the garage was, i would only charge the battery at generators so when my bike broke down and exploded i was shocked to say the least.
    the bike spoiled me so once it was broken i decided to begrudgingly continue with the main story. now i’m on chapter 3 at central knot city after 36 hrs of gameplay.
    also once i got the hematic grenades the BTs all came back so. had a really fun time running from MULEs on foot after using the bike for a few hours.

    Really cool video.
    I couldn't agree more about not overloading yourself. The game encourages you to rise the maximum height tower on your back all the time but it's a really bad idea most of the time.
    Like you said, common sense is key, carrying too much stuff will make your character significantly harder to control, slower and will destroy your boosts and stamina. It's not something you want when you have to go through harsh terrain or fight enemies.
    Another think I wanted to point out is about combat.
    There is a few things that are important to be mindful while fighting enemies and can really help peoples out.
    First off, you're not invincible when you take down an enemy. Because there is an animation, it's easy to go Dark souls mode and force the animation to occur when you're standing around multiple enemies but it's a very bad idea. If a MULE decide to attack you when you do (and believe me they will) you'll get hit for free and probably lose a piece of equipment in the process.
    Secondly, be very careful about your stamina. It's very tempting to run around while being attacked but you have to remember doing so costs stamina and while it's not an issue to run here and there to avoid a tricky situation, doing it constantly is gonna destroy your stamina and you'll find Sam falling from exaustion in front of his aggressors (I don't think I have to explain why it's a bad thing lol).
    Thirdly, being scanned by MULEs give up your position but they don't exactly know where you are when it happens. For this reason, you can use this at your advantage.
    After being scanned, you can scan the area yourself to see where your enemies are coming from and try to ambush them.
    Finally, there is a few things that the game doesn't necessarily point out but can be really valuable. For example, when you're beating an enemy up with your bare hands, the last punch you deliver will cause a short slow motion, if you hold your controller's trigger when it happens, you can catch the parcel they're carrying in mid air and then use it against them by either smashing them with it or throwing it at them. I know a lot of players know that already but for those who don't it can be a really good thing to know about.

      Hey man, great tips! I didn't know about the mid-air thing. It's good to know. I'm thinking about doing another one of these but I'm working on my review/thoughts about the game now, so maybe after that... or maybe I do one about Fallen Order, which I haven't even started yet 😱

    #1 TIP: Start repairing roads ASAP to easily max out LINK likes. I had over 100k likes from the 1st few road pavers before I even finished them because it helps others complete other player's roads. Even if you don't care about finishing roads just some materials to each of them. I hit LINK 70 before hitting 20 in the other categories except for miscellaneous. Having access to a lot of other player's structures means you spend a lot less of your mats and network building. I barely needed a few ropes before I had access to zip lines. A few of the road sections are needed to quickly cover difficult terrain areas, but they are not all needed.

    1 long ranged truck can clean out a camp and all the post boxes and the cargo the mules carry, also anything you want to pick up on the way. good for likes as mules store stolen cargo, excellent for building roads zip line networks & upkeep, the recycle materials can go into overflow though and be wasted.

    Tips I find extremely helpful on me:
    1.Always carry the exoskeletons, and equip them as the terrain demands it, also, try to level up the connection with the people that give you the exoskeletons, they upgrade them to make them smaller
    2. People know about peeing on the bts to scare them away, but it's much faster if you're carrying pee/poo/sweat grenades and throw them at them
    3. Use the rain refuges to repair your cargo boxes, get in and out repeatedly to make it faster

    About using Trikes in BT areas. So long as you don't run right into a BT, you can still safely use it. I've been able to weave in between BTs just as they've spotted me or before they've spotted me. If you're able to get a feel about where BTs are, you can manage.
    Speaking of BT areas, I've found it to be better to put gold cargo on the bike in case you're snatched by the BTs and have to... *SPOILERS*
    Fight a boss. This way, you can fight the boss without having to worry about dropping your cargo somewhere away from the fight to keep it undamaged. So far, the bosses have been manageable and once defeated, make the BT area you were in free to roam BT-free for a while. Just find your Trike again and enjoy the drive.

    I don't know if I agree with all these tips... You can basically brute force speed your way through any BT Zone on a Trike, or just take it slow and make your way through them like you normally would. Plus on any rocky terrain you can just pop a wheelie and cruse away super easily.
    As everyone in the comments are saying, don't waste your repair spray on cargo containers before handing in cargo. You're just wasting the spray.
    I honestly find the game so much more fun when I'm at or close to 100% carry capacity. I really enjoy the challenge, so I don't think I agree there either. I really love taking a massive mountain of cargo on a trip that seemed impossible.
    And yes Hematic Grenades to make BT Zones easier, but it is SO easy to just go around them, and the timefall damage cargo containers takes is honestly minimal. I normally leave my Hematic Grenades for bossfights or for when I fuck up and get caught and have to fight a big BT. But that is super rare.
