    I completely agree that teachers need to complete the think sheet with their students. It's harder for kids to self-regulate and understand the effect of their actions on others if teachers don't explicitly explain it to their students

      I am learning that I have to teach students about emotions and how to regulate them! I didn't realize this going into my first 2 years of teaching!!

    I totally agree with this! Talking to the parents and involving them is so very important. They might have some ideas on behavior management for their specific child that you know nothing about.

      Yes I 100% agree! Once I called parents, it was a game changer

    I really like the utilization of the reflection sheets. This is something I also did in upper elementary. This is a great behavioral management tool, as it allows them to reflect on their own behavior. Great Job!

    Have you thought about putting a list of poor behavior choices on the pink sheet in case some students say that they were not doing anything? This way, they can check off the specific behaviors that they were doing. Thank you for your presentation. Take care.

    being a history/eng/music teacher looking for ideas for management plans for remote teaching this coming school yr, I really liked your grade check slips and noting the importance of them explaining how to improve is a good idea to adapt to online instruction since as your previous video on remote teaching mentioned: getting improvement in performance is key w/ remote learning right now.

    I like the idea of sending these home. I always intend to then things get a little crazy and I forget and double up on weeks. I need to just commit!
    Seeing your reflection sheet made me think of one where it had options on the back for the parent and student AT HOME. I'm just thinking out loud now... I typically have a lot of parents who quite frankly are at a loss of how to...parent, they call and ask how they can get control of their child at home or what can they do their kid has an attitude at home but not at school etc. I wonder if having a section on the back that says something like At Home Action: then has a list of like 'had a conversation about behavior' 'had to do a chore' 'wrote a letter or note of apology' 'loss of privilege' or something like that to give parents an idea of how to reinforce at home. On the rare occasion I call home to follow up with something that happened at school the parents tend to go straight to taking away phones or the xbox which honestly sometimes I think can be a bit extreme. Sure Billy refused to do his work then yelled at the teacher but is taking away his xbox really going to help? No that kid probably needs someone to talk to to find the root of why, is the work too hard, is he having a hard time sleeping and cant focus...it would be interesting to provide options and the parent circled one and added any notes to the bottom. Just like teachers and students just talking about it can do wonders, I also believe just as teachers strengthen their relationships with students by talking about problems and having students have some choice in consequences I bet it would strengthen the relationship with their parents as well. Like I said, just thinking out loud- thank you! You have inspired me to reevaluate my own reflection forms.

      YOU have inspired ME to add a portion of that onto the sheets!! I sincerely believe that parents genuinely dont know how to parent their children in most beneficial way. We are teachers and I think we can help parents as well! A team effort! LOVE IT!!

    Do you do grade Checks every week for every student? Only if a student is struggling in a subject?

    • @HighVibeTeaching
      @HighVibeTeaching  2 года назад

      Every 6 weeks for every student/parent and every so often for the struggling students! Maybe every 2 to 3 weeks for them!

    Love this! I am student teaching in a few semesters so this is super helpful, thank you for sharing! Do you use the pink slips for all behavior issues or only for more severe actions (as you mentioned hitting, cussing....)? About how many slips do you fill out per week? Thanks lady!

    • @HighVibeTeaching
      @HighVibeTeaching  4 года назад

      I just the pink slips after I have given a warning and an opportunity to fix their behavior and make a better choice! Sometimes I fill out 4+ a week, and sometimes I don’t need to fill any of it out! Just depends! :)

    This is super helpful! Do you have any suggestions on a classroom management system for remote learning or how to use this pack in a virtual classroom?

    • @HighVibeTeaching
      @HighVibeTeaching  4 года назад +1

      That is super hard...... This is what I do: if students complete ALL of the work for the week they are entered into a raffle for a $5 gift card that I mail to them! It’s extra but necessary for my group of kids because they need that motivation

    How do you like to deal with situations where students do the “he said she said” situation in cases where you didn’t actually see or hear what happened.

    • @HighVibeTeaching
      @HighVibeTeaching  4 года назад +2

      that when I would pull them behind at recess, lunch, after school, during lunch etc with everyone involved and get to the root of the problem through discussion :) Once the root of the problem is found, we can work on it and I can give students tools to do so :)

    What if something really serious happens (such as a fight)? Do you wait until Friday to let the parent know?

    • @HighVibeTeaching
      @HighVibeTeaching  4 года назад +1

      I had a situation happen this school year. If it is a serious issue like stealing or fighting or bullying, that is a same day, we need a meeting phone call with the parent.
