Before I knew Seventeen, there's this member in Seventeen that I can recognize. Only him, he's the only one I recognize. Like I know he's name and how he looks like.
Other various SVT facts: S. Coups and Woozi were originally supposed to debut as a member of Tempest, a group intended to be Nu’est’s rivals. That debut was delayed and ultimately cancelled when Pledis screwed Nu’est over. Woozi actually really likes human contact, it’s just that when he doesn’t have control over it, he gets uncomfortable. The original concept for SVT was “17 boys with an average age of 17 (Korean age system)”. That plan was tossed when three of the youngest trainees left the company, tanking the age goalz. Pledis execs also forced out Mingming, a Chinese trainee, bc they didn’t like him. And also as a stupid reaction to Nu’est M failing that makes sense if you crunch the numbers and ignore reality. It’s complicated and the tea is cold, so let’s not get into it. Anyway, all of that helped tank the count from 16 max trainees down to 12 (and then The8 was brought into the company at the last minute). The 3 units were originally supposed to promote in Korea, China, and Japan. The idea was inspired by EXO-M and -K. Pledis execs had previously tried to redebut Nu’est in China and were determined to break into that market somehow. That plan got tossed when no Japanese trainees made it in and only 3 Chinese trainees ever passed auditions. “13 members + 3 units + 1 group = SVT” was an tagline made at literally the last possible second to justify naming a 13-member group Seventeen. Before that tagline emerged, the units idea had been entirely retired: it was resurrected as ‘Rap/Vocal/Performance’ units, once Pledis execs decided on the “self-produced idols” brand. Jeonghan didn’t like the long hair very much initially and only grew it because the CEO asked him to. He got used to it over time and even grew to like it (sort of), but ultimately got it cut bc of irreversible bleach damage. That’s how the Pretty U bob came around! When SVT debuted, Nu’est’s Ren’s genderbending was the most successful thing the agency had produced since Uee, and of course the execs wanted to keep producing what worked. Seriously don’t misgender Jeonghan: the “mom” joke really is just a concept, he’s really not a motherly person. He’s an experienced older brother, but he’s no mom. Jun’s the closest thing to a mom in SVT, if we’re being real, and Jun’s momfriend mode only kicks in when somebody’s about to cry/already crying or there’s a child nearby. So basically, in very limited and specific situations: otherwise, he’s Dorklord Supreme. The8’s a bit of a momfriend these days, too: Chinaline on the rise with their emotional maturity and well-developed empathy. SVT drinks a lot. Like, a lot. They’ve even called themselves 술venteen/alcohol-venteen. Mingyu, Joshua, and The8 are wine pals. DK and Seungkwan are both lightweights but bicker about who the lighter weight is when they’re both drunk. It’s unconfirmed, but I’m pretty sure Mingyu actually joined a Vlive while completely sloshed recently. S. Coups originally joined Pledis as a vocalist, Woozi joined as a dancer, and Mingyu and Jeonghan both joined with no performance talents at all. They’ve all grown. SVT’s image shift from Boom Boom to Don’t Wanna Cry lines up pretty well with The8’s sudden surge in self-expression. These days, the members’ aesthetic preferences are guiding their creative output, suggesting a pretty big shift in group management. I’m no expert in Pledis politics, though. When I got into Kpop I somehow always thought SVT debuted at the same time as BigBang and SuJu, don't ask me why I have no explanation. I learned a few things about them when they appeared here and there on shows or videos I watched and it got me thinking, they'd be one of my fav groups if I ever decide to stop being lazy and start stanning them. Vernon has really helped me. When I was younger I use to wish I was fully white due to bullying for being Asian. Then just two years ago I became proud for being Asian. But before I got into SVT four months ago I was really discouraged that I didn’t look “Asian enough” and felt out of place with my culture. Vernon has taught me that just because you don’t look like your heritage doesn’t make you any less, I really admire him as a fellow Wasian.

I guess when it comes to dancing each performance unit member has his own special colour Soonyoung is charismatic, it's also said in this video and I agree. He draws people in, literally. That video of him dancing to Animal? I rewatch that on a daily for at least ten minutes and I still can't get enough Jun has a lot of flourish to his moves, they flow (if you know what I mean). Fabulous is quite a good word to describe him if you ask me Chan is very smug. He's powerful and he knows it, he works a lot with smug grins and just facial expressions in general Minghao is harder to describe, or maybe it's just me who can't find the right words. He's explosive but then again he seems chill, dancing fits him naturally, that's the best way to put it Either way, they're all incredibly talented, I love stanning kings
This is the third ever kpop group I'm gonna stan. So far it's BTS and Got7 but oh my God, I wish I knew these boys sooner. They're so precious and it makes me wonder how people can hate them.

When I got into Kpop I somehow always thought SVT debuted at the same time as BigBang and SuJu, don't ask me why I have no explanation. I learned a few things about them when they appeared here and there on shows or videos I watched and it got me thinking, they'd be one of my fav groups if I ever decide to stop being lazy and start stanning them. I watched Chao Yin Zhan Ji because of Yanan and fell in love with Jun and The8. So now I'm here and decided to stop being fucking lazy and support these talented men!

When I was younger I use to wish I was fully white due to bullying for being Asian. Then just two years ago I became proud for being Asian. But before I got into SVT four months ago I was really discouraged that I didn’t look “Asian enough” and felt out of place with my culture. Vernon has taught me that just because you don’t look like your heritage doesn’t make you any less, I really admire him as a fellow Wasian.
