I was at the Samford game and we were booing pretty loud after we failed to get that 4th and 1 after the turnover on our first possession. DJ was able to turn that around pretty quickly and the Swamp was back. Hopefully we can keep the crowd on our side, or else it could get ugly.
The defensive scheme is too complicated for these players at this point. "Creepers", dropping DE's into coverage constantly, Safety blitz from 20 yards back, too much zone & lack of aggression on short yardage situations etc. A base 4-3/4-2 Cover 2 or 3 with well timed LB blitzes would correct a lot of the confusion I see on tape. The K.I.S.S. principle needs to be implemented immediately or we are cooked!
Seems for the last 2 or 3 years the Gator players on defense have been handcuffed because they've been taught to react once the ball is snapped instead of ATTACK. They seem hesitant because of the scheme that keeps changing from the sidelines. They seem at times confused. Happened even when DM was head coach.
The Graham mertz hate is insane ,he just threw for 3000 yds, 20 tds and 4 rush tds last year . with highest accuracy in the country. He one of the best in the nation💯

He had the bomb to ricky in the mcneesee st game, the kentucky game he had a deep fade ball to caleb douglas , he threw for 244 and 2tds. On film he is a Very mobile quarterback he has made hella accurate throws on the run. And Are yall just gonna forget about how he shredded south carolina for 420 yds!?! What about how he went toe to toe with jayden daniel and had 300plus. He hella accurate with the ball , he barely throws picks , like what else do y’all want ?🤷♂️ Gators Fans just be overreacting to everything bro. It was 1 game dawg. If you look at past teams that were successful, they all had something in common. They all had strong lines on both sides of the ball. It's priority number one. More important than the QB, RB or any other position. An average QB can thrive behind a great offensive line. An average secondary can thrive when the defense puts the opposing QB on his back. If you can't win on the line, you can't win. For some reason, Napier didn't make the lines a top priority and we have and will continue to pay for that lack of insight.
Big plays. Flying around will lead to a W. Need to rekindle the old magic. No negative vibes allowed. Respect the opponent by obliterating them. Go 🐊 Wax A & M. Rinse and repeat.
Keeping the ball in front of you and making teams methodically go down the field doesn't work if you keep giving up first downs on third and long. That was the worst thing about Grantham's defenses. When Armstrong was hired, I looked up his stats for his defensive coordinator gig at Southern Miss. His third down defense was one of the worst in the nation. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see much chance for improved defense.
Ah yes the keep you defense on the field for as long as possible as long as you don't give up big splash plays .. surely multiple 12 play drives with your defense out there would never cause massive fatigue to your 2 deep defense by halftime.. methodically down the field approach for the fledge sec ..stop it 😂😂 I prefer the 3 and out strategy which I hear is starting to finally become popular and used by more and more teams 😅😅😅

Our defense is just terrible. If a defense is poor your offense has to be other world amazing to have a chance to be a winning program but that doesn't work either, i.e. air raid etc.
Feel you're at your best offensively in a two minute drill. Even worked against Miami. Surprised why you don't make that your standard, if the O line is in condition or deep. Go Canes.
So many players out with injuries in the defensive backfield may be tempting for A&M to attack. Gators do have the #1 defensive lineman sitting on the bench. Think LJ could be a physical freak that has the potential to disrupt offensive schemes?

The people in the athletic department that worked with Lane said he was weird and difficult to get along with.
