Temperature control battery choices will be addressed in another video. I can’t answer questions about specific mods as I don’t know how they operate in TC mode.
Set escribe up to display the wattage on your screen (in one of the 3 small sections) then when you fire the mod you will see exactly what power the mod is using to to keep the coil at the temp you have it set at. It will usually fire at the wattage you have it set at then drop the power once the coil is hot. If the power doesn't drop then you aren't really using the TC and it's will just be firing at 90w.
Excellent video! Most people seem to really dont care at all about battery safety and amp limits when it comes to regulated mods. They figure that all this stuff is purely a thing that mech users have to care about... so the typical beginner never gets educated since he see's no need to and gets the impression that the chip is doing all the work. Even if you dont care about safety, everyone should be eager to learn about this stuff and how to match the best possible battery to your vape just for the sake of efficiency and battery life. You will be much happier with your regulated mod, performance, battery life if you use the right batteries for it and on top of that be much safer.
Thanks mooch! didn't realize I was running my samsung 30qs at some dangerous wattage, will be passing this video to my friends who I ignorantly taught the same bad habits I was stuck in
I'm a 3 year vaper. At my local today, getting juice and wire, I was talking with the owner about the batteries he had. I ended up teaching HIM about what his batteries could do/not do. Surprising what he didn't know, being an owner. Well, not teach but... Informing him really. After all was said I strongly advised him and any "new" vapers that come to his store to visit your channel. My mech mod experience has greatly improved just by watching your 3 videos (multiple times, it gets confusing still) Thank you so much for doing this Mooch! Namaste
B+m owners can have some strange ideas about batteries I had to explain (and argue) that I wanted the vtc5as one shop had over the 30qs because it was for a pwm - they argued 3000 mah meant better all round regardless of amp rating...
Jock1092 Jock fucking IDIOTS. I can only hope beyond hope that the b&m owner I talked to actually checked out Moody's channel. I know I've learned a lot.
I have experienced the same thing at my local shop. They are good people but its surprising how little they actually know about some of the simplest things when it comes to vaping. To be honest, there should be some rules in place, or some sort of certification process that you should have to go through before you open up a vape shop. I work in wholesale/retail meat and we are USDA inspected. We have to be in order to sell to the public. Its just safer. Some sort of same system should be in place for the B&M Vape shops owners. This is just my opinion. Its so frustrating when you go try to do business with your local shop and they want to argue with you about what you want, because in their minds, they are the "professionals" and they are "supposed" to know more than the customer. It can be dangerous.
Fantastic video again mooch. Really cleared up some quite confusing issues around safe battery usage and presented the maths in a clear and easy to understand format.
Mooch, ur a gift from the gods.. You make, what seems complex, so simple to understand. So thank you so much for making my vaping future, a safer one..
Quickly becoming one of my top 3 RUclips channels. Your killing it Mooch. I'd love a video about lipo safety with regulated. And how can you prevent a lipo from swelling it seems to happen even vaping at 50-65 watts on a dna 200 with me in 4-7 months I need to buy a new one.
You are the man. I have been using the HE4 in my regulated HB6 in my 18650 mech mods and the A123 M1B 26650. Thanks for steering me in the right direction
Thanks for making this video. When i started off with exclusively regulated mods i wish i had known this. I would have made better choices. Now I do occasionally used regulated mods when i need more power or better battery life. I need to know this but didn't know i needed this knowledge. Thanks for keeping me safe!
Hey Mooch, Another great video. Keep them coming. I shared this with a couple of guys I work with that just started vaping and they were lost but with the three videos that you did so far has saved me a week of explaining shit to them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! New guys and I'm sure a lot of older vapers need this shit to be drilled into their heads so that maybe we can stop some of the horror stories we keep hearing about in the news. Later bud
WOW! After that lesson, I think I am running my batteries at idle. I calculated by your example on one of my setups that my per-battery amperage draw was only 2.31 amps. The set up is a Wismec RXGen3 with a 0.93 ohm single coil at 20 watts. The batteries in it are labeled as Samsun INR 18650 25R.
After looking at battery info for a few hours on the web, I found this video and it answered every question I had left about batteries in regulated mods. Thanks Mooch!
Thank you again Mooch, your channel is gona be a one stop shop for all things battery safety, I wish the other channels would preach battery safety as much as they do advocacy. When I first started vaping I had no idea regulated mods could be just as dangerous as mechs, I seen that smok Gx350 blown to bits and it scared the hell out of me, made me worried for all the misinformed beginners out there
So glad you started a channel, this content is fantastic, much easier to understand when i can see you write it out on the board and solve the equation
Let me start off by saying thank you for everything you do for the vaping community. This video finally puts the arguments about battery choice in regulated devices to rest. Awesome video!
Great information as always sir! May I go out on a limb and dub thee the Ray Kurzweil of vaping and battery safety. If you haven't had that comparison yet. Keep these videos coming. Your work is invaluable.
excellent video again, great getting into more depth of knowledge surrounding batteries rather than someone telling u,its good to see it for yourself and work out your own ratings through the formulas, keep them coming
Fantastic video! I just got around to watching it been out of the country for a couple of weeks and it is very informative I did the equations on my 2 battery mod that I'm running at 40 watts and found out that I'm barely using the batteries so I don't know whether that's good or bad. I haven't watched your next video which you have already made so I'm not going to ask for any specific topics I'll save them for my comment on your next video. Thanks again dude, I hated math when I was in school, and a good friend of mine told me this is math. So I don't hate it so much now. Thanks mooch, great videos keep them coming and I'll keep watching them. Jimmy
Great info mooch thank you for teaching all of this. When I first started vaping I knew nothing about all this. Now I'm learning more and better faster ways to calculate. I'm running mxjo in a regulated sigeli spectrum chaos for now. Picking up the hg2 and vtc5as in a few weeks. As both of those have been my favorites. Sorry for rambling. Again awesome info thank you.
Another great topic. Thanx. I'm looking forward to the TC talk as I haven't had good luck with TC mods (tanks really). I use regulated mods at fairly low power (haven't been north of 40W yet). I get good vapor as well as good battery life and low e-liquid consumption. The only TC setup I've tried so far would spit back at me even at low temperature settings but I think it's a tank issue. I don't think this is an issue you'll be addressing but I thought I'd mention it if anyone else has a suggestion. BTW - My solution was a long curved drip tip.
FINALLY! A superb explanation of how to calculate current draw from regulated mod. Internet is full of explanations of how ohm's law work etc, which is different calculation needed than in (imo more popular!) regulated mods. I don't know why really, because from 20 vapers that I know NONE is using mech and this info is really really usefull. THANK YOU very much sir, superb series. I have one question though...After seeing this I understand, I can put as low as 0.1ohm coil into regulated mod and it shouldn't be any problems right? What about battery runtime? How does resistance (ohm) affect battery runtime in regulated mod, or does it affect at all? Have you done this kind of test maybe?
LooK253 check with the mod’s manufacturer for the lowest coil resistance it can handle. Coil resistance has almost no effect on the battery current in a regulated mod. Only the power setting affects battery current.
Great video Mooch learning alot im a Millwright by trade so i deal with some AC issues but not much DC battery stuff , you are hitting all the questions I've had, thanks for your time brother
thanks mooch. this is getting better and better. i just want to ask you again, if you would agree to turn on the option to add subtitles/translations. i know A LOT of people that would greatly beneffit from your videos. it'd be WAY more efficient to link your videos (with subtitles for my spanish speaking folks) than to explain all these things over and over... and over again.. for every new vaper asking battery and safety questions. although i could just make a guide based on the knowledge and information you prorvide, there are so many ppl out there that think "and why should i trust you?" (me). the name "battery mooch" carries a lot of weight when it comes to credibility. thanks again mooch. and congratulations on a job well done.
hey! yes captions and subtitles are enabled and working, but the auto translate feature is SO BAD at translating that makes my eyes hurt hahaha. i think there is an extra option to allow for "community contributions", were ppl can add translations. im willing to do the translations by hand, its ok.. but it wont let me. support.google.com/youtube/answer/6052538?hl=en see if it looks good to you. to me it sounds like a lot of trouble and maybe you'd rather not deal with all that... which would be understandable. thanks mooch!
yeah i thought of that chance as well. i guess regular written guides should suffice then. with links to the videos for those who have doubts of the content. regular translations from youtube should be accurate enough for them to know that the content on the guide matches the source. thanks though! and keep up the good work bro. you are the best.
Mr Mooch! Great Video and topic! Most people don't realize that safety is still required with a regulated mod. This is a quick and easy way to have that extra knowledge going into Vaping. Thanks so much for everything you do for the community! I'm truly enjoying your YT channel! 😉
It's great mooch, some people think they know everything about batteries but I know I can trust in you. Loving the vids I am learning a lot of stuff I didn't know. Thanx for all the info and keep em coming. :)
Great video mooch .. Learned more from for 3 videos than months of forums and research... Now i know vtc5a are the perfect batts for how i vape both for mechs and regulated
Absolutely loving your videos, Mooch! I would love to see a video exploring the manufacturing processes and chemistries of some of the batteries we use. Thanks you for spreading knowledge!
Another informative video. What I just learned is that I should get separate batteries for my regulated devices instead of using the same high amp batteries I use in my mechs. Since I typically vape my regulated at around 70 to 85 watts and never more than 100ish watts, I really only need 20 amp batteries for dual mod instead of 25 or 30 amp batteries. This allows me to choose batteries with more mah and longer run time. Great info.
Fantastic, easy to understand, concise and extremely well presented in the best "Buddy-like" fashion. I REALLY appreciate you doing all this for us and and not making anyone feel overwhelmed.....not easy to do when you have so much more knowledge than many (most) of your appreciative viewers/fans/fellow vapers. Kudus on yet another fantastic installment brother!! 👍👍👍
Another brilliant video full of lots of useful information for guys like me that only use regulated devices. You cannot imagine how great your videos are. We finally have a place to get all the info we need to decide which battery to use in our moods. As a 4 year vaper, I cannot thank you enough. Your’re probably the only vaper that doesn’t Vape during your videos ;-) Keep up this amazing work educating the community.
Thank you very much for all this videos Mooch, I've been learning a lot, specially since I'm interested in starting with mechanical mods. You explain this topics very nicely and they are quite easy to follow. It's good to have all of this info handy form a trustworthy source and as some others have mentioned you're helping the community to keep safety in mind when it comes to using our vaping gear. Great video, and I look forward to learning more about this from you!
It just gets better each video John! Im glad weve got you, i know you educate and provide common sense to ALOT of people. Myself included! Im now working on a power bank for my home, and id never attempted it if it werent for you and vaping. Thank you very much for all ya do mr mooch!
I'm glad you are finally on youtube. Watching these videos makes it so much easier for me to process than reading pages of info. Safety first. Thanks Mooch.👍
I am so happy to see these videos. I learned to build on a dual RDA. So I pretty much have been building a certain way. I just got the dead rabbit SQ single coil RDA, and now having trouble getting the right coil. People are telling me you’ve got a run all these Clapton and alien things but I’m a simple guy I just want a simple gauge wire coil. You best believe I will be studying these videos very hard so I know what I’m doing. I am using the pulse BF. I just ordered a mechanical rig mod. I definitely need to know all of these equations. Coming from someone like me, math wasn’t my strongest subject in school and I have zero knowledge on electricity. If you would just make a Barney style video on the correct things to do and the things to absolutely avoid. In the meantime I will be studying these numbers. I know that the mod I have coming later this week says not to run below .2 ohms. I know how to measure ohms I know all about the ohms I just need to know what not to do on certain batteries
Mooch, I want to thank you for doing this educational series, these videos are great for beginners and experts alike. You have given so much to this community and I hope you know how well you are respected and admired. Thank you sir!
Thanks so much Mooch, this was the video I've been waiting on! I've pretty much got my Ohm’s Law down and what batteries for what mechs and builds I like but always get a different answer on how to calculate for regulated mods. I took notes and now I'm good to go thanks to you! So stoked your on RUclips. BTW your getting good, in just 3 episodes it's getting much smoother and organized so keep up the great work! We all appreciate it.
Great video Mooch. Was waiting for this info. When I started vaping. My vape store recommend the 2nd imren green batteries you tested. Because of you I realized this was way wrong. Even though that was a few years ago.
Thanks mooch. Been using samsung 25rs since I started vaping. Also I only vape using triple battery mods and between 75-120w. Noticed a long time ago that battery life was better when my I supported my vaping style with 3cells. For some reason, I just stuck with what I knew. Thanks for the formulas. U do a Great public service. Hope this means you have figured out how to monetize your hobby bro.
Another great video. Good info on specifying model numbers to new vapers. I don't like relying on colors since as you pointed out so many batteries share similarly colored wraps. I'm detail oriented but not everyone is and for those who aren't they're liable to pick up the cheapest of the color. Also important to point new vapers to specifics like flat tops if regulated since most don't work with button tops and many people don't pay a lot of attention to the descriptions. Many sites will have the same battery model cheaper in button top so it can be confusing. Not saying people are idiots but a lot of people if not familiar with stats, model numbers, electronics etc may not think to question it further. Better to bore them with specifics and have them pick the right item.
Thank you for this video.. It was very helpful. I never knew how many batteries a mod has determines how high in wattage you can go. The vape shops never hit on that topic.
Thanks! I had the equations before, but couldn’t remember which Review Channel you said it on… But here you are in the flesh! And I’ve got the homework I need for getting fresh batteries for the new mods I bought over Christmas! 😎👏🙏
Thanks for the vid, Mooch! Good one on using multi-battery devices, might be an eye-opener to some, especially those who prefer smaller and more lightweight devices.
WOW! What a great video man, thank you so much . I'm glad I use HG2s in my regulated devices, as they fit the recommended wattage you provided , according to my valid wattages @ 50-55watts per battery . I vape at 45-55 watts on my single battery mod, and at a max of 90 watts on my dual battery modm (usually more like 70-75watts). Anyways, being a sole LG HG2s user, I was happy to learn I am using the most efficient battery available . Thank you so much for this amazing information. I thought I knew all I needed to know about batteries in regulated mods, but I learned quite a bit from this video ! Cheers Mooch! Our community and industry would be naked without you. You're the bomb dot Com sir!m
Excellent job, once again. I'm glad you finally went vid. This vid would have been a decent spot to include the mech mod, ohm meter, voltage testing at the addy. Big thumbs up, look forward to many more. :)
Thanks for the post. I learned that the amps displayed on a regulated mod are the amps on the other side of the regulator, not the amps going in. Another great video. I too wondered about TC so look forward to that one.
Loving all the accurate trustworthy info. Likely you have this in mind already, but going over battery IR what it means and how to calculate it for unregulated mods and predict battery performance would be very useful . I searched this earlier to verify a formula and the info as it applies to vapers is scattered at best. Thanks for all you do, you got alot of people really excited to learn about their gear ultimately protecting vaping and vapers alike.
Very informative I only vape m t l at a 12 watt setting so hopefully I won’t be in to much danger with regard to battery safety but I am always very cautious. Great site love the information
The risks are the same for any wattage if the batteries are not kept in perfect condition and charged carefully within their ratings. Glad you’re being careful and that my testing has been useful to you!
Love your work Mooch, the time and effort you put into the community is so appreciated by all that are aware of it. I've been spreading the word. You are the harm reduction of harm reduction :-)
Thanks for taking the time brotha for just a spilt seconds I get that tingle like its Christmas morning when I see you put out a new video I really appreciate what your doing and could listen for hours thanks again
Temperature control battery choices will be addressed in another video.
I can’t answer questions about specific mods as I don’t know how they operate in TC mode.
You should cover how the ArcticFox firmware (works on a lot of mods) works with TC and how batteries work for it.
Battery Mooch Good to hear, I currently run lost vape drone in tc 500F/90w. Can't wait to see your tc video
Thank you. TC is something I've always been confused about.
Battery Mooch thanks man your the best
I learned more from this single video than I had learned in the 4 years I've been vaping.
Anne Beakke ditto
You and me both
My personal motto: "All mods (regulated as well as unregulated) are supplied without brains - so use your own"
True... 😂😂😂😂
Second half of this video should be required viewing before being allowed to buy batteries!
Thanks, Mooch. I'm always going to be crunching these numbers in my cranium when I adjust my wattage, now. LoL
A much needed video. So many people rely on the fact its a regulated mod. You are saving lives my friend! Keep up the good work! Much ❤ from NC
Much ❤️ from Winston Salem
Another good one Mooch. Your making the vape world much safer with these videos. Everybody should be watching these.
"sorry about the handwriting it will not get better" 😂 made me chuckle.
Epic video once again, thanks Mooch.
ROFL at your comment "Sorry about the handwriting. It's never gonna get better." Looks just like my handwriting. Great video! Thanks!
Excellent video! Most people seem to really dont care at all about battery safety and amp limits when it comes to regulated mods. 7 people actually downvoted this video. Ridiculous. Mooch this is awesome I didn't even know you had a channel now.
I need to catch up on your videos. My mind just exploded. Lots of information to take in but explained so anyone can understand it. Thank you.
Thanks mooch! didn't realize I was running my samsung 30qs at some dangerous wattage, will be passing this video to my friends who I ignorantly taught the same bad habits I was stuck in

Can't keep up with comments!? Mooch, blowing up like a mishandled battery over here. You go dude.
Wow the equations are easy when someone gives you the numbers to plug in. Great video
Fantastic video again mooch. Really cleared up some quite confusing issues around safe battery usage and presented the maths in a clear and easy to understand format.

Great information about regulated mod, Mooch. Thank you for your work and finally being on RUclips. ❤️ from Bangladesh.
Too short. Actually you did a wonderful job. You are really getting into a groove now. Thank you for all you do for the vape community!
thanks mooch. this is getting better and better.

Mech mod + mech knowledge + ohm's law + MOOCH'S LECTURE = awesome mech experience... Great video as always mooch!
it is so wonderful, to see you on RUclips, brother😊👍👍👍
Definitely enjoy learning and passing on your videos to other people in my family that vape.
once again a ton of information made simple and very easy to understand..thanks as always Mooch
Most information I’ve ever been given about batteries. Thank you
Once again thanks for your knowledge. Mad props for wanting to help the community without asking for nothing.
thanx Mooch
Great informative Video.keep em coming man. wish this was out when i started out, would have saved me hours of googling and asking people.
Great video mooch .. Learned more from for 3 videos than months of forums and research... Now i know vtc5a are the perfect batts for how i vape both for mechs and regulated
Who the heck gave this a thumbs down?! SHAME!! Great Video!!
Very informative. I've been vaping for years and had no idea how PWM mods worked. These videos are gold.
I saw the mooch video and woke up to watch it. Thanks!
Roast Beef Curtains lol nice user name
Your’re probably the only vaper that doesn’t Vape during your videos ;-)
Keep up this amazing work educating the community.
I love you videos Mooch. Easy and clear explanations to keep everyone safe. Keep up the good work brother. Thank you for all that you do.
We all appreciate it.
think I'm a not late to this particular party, but another home run mooch. can't say thank you enough for what all u do for this community brother.
Thank you mooch. Just when i thought i knew everything about capacity and discharge... 😂 i'm never leaving my batteries in overnight again.
Thank you so much, Professor Mooch. You answered a couple questions I've had for years but no one could definitively answer. Thanks!
Catching up.......thanks, Mooch! Very GOOD Info! :)
Thanks! I had the equations before, but couldn’t remember which Review Channel you said it on… But here you are in the flesh! And I’ve got the homework I need for getting fresh batteries for the new mods I bought over Christmas! 😎👏🙏
I feel like a baby Mooch. This is exactly how I explain it to people who ask me.
Mmm, having a coffee listening to battery "Bob Ross" mooch. "It's your world, you can vape whatever you want, as long as It follows ohms law"
THANK YOU! I have been asking this question in fb groups and everyone is clueless, this video was badly needed.
love the format, the content, the delivery.
Thanks so much Mooch! Great info as always. Looking forward to your next videos!
I have watched your 3 episodes, very informative, great content! Thanks!!
One of the few that gets an instant like before even whatching the video. Thank you!
Crystal clear Mooch, like always great video
Keep it up Mooch great content the internet needs this!!
Your a lefty. right on your in the right mind club. Thanks again for the great video. Good knowledge when buying batteries for our mods and uses.
Yeah! Keep up the good work, Mooch! so much great information!
Another excellent vid!!! Thank you for showing max wattages for 30q's, HG2's & VTC5a's. Without a doubt the best info/tutorial around.
An incredible video, Mooch. Really well explained and very easy to follow
