I was the owner of Genos 1 when it launched. I was working full time when I got it but the Pandemic happened so I was forced to sell it to pay bills. I was very sad after I did that as I knew it didn't feel right and I didn't want to do it. I am saving up for Genos 2 and hopefully I will enjoy this magnificent machine again. Your videos have been the best. Yamaha should use your videos for reference as only truthful no BS and a person that genuinely enjoys the instrument.
I can't agree more in regard to Yamaha using such talented musician and a passionate person like Leigh. I can only that he is my inspiration and a great teacher if that's the word you use in English. Well done to you for saving up to get back to you passion of playing such Yamaha Genos 2
I agree, Yamaha would be wise to acknowledge Leigh Wilbraham’s thorough exploration of this exceptional machine, shedding light on its standout features and potential areas for improvement. By recognizing Wilbraham’s insights, Yamaha can better understand the nuanced aspects of their product and cater to the needs and preferences of their customers effectively. Additionally, leveraging Wilbraham’s expertise can enhance Yamaha's reputation for prioritizing customer feedback and innovation in their designs.
Thank you Mr Wilbraham… that was a most beautiful evenings entertainment, without having to leave the house! ☺️ its almost a new style of theatre…hearing the style, trying to figure where we’ve heard that before, and before we’re know it you’ve taken it there, or some where even more beautiful! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 (lol you’ve really inspired me to start a journey…lol unfortunately it’ll be first steps though, and think I’m going to have to start with the EZ300 with key lighting 😂😂🙈)

❤ Blown away Leigh, not only with the keyboard but also your playing and improvisation, love my SX900 to bits and love doing what youve just done just sitting flicking through styles and playing different tunes and genres, its amazing how quick you lose time. Take care Sir, ❤️🎹🏴
Wow Leigh! This reminds me of the switch from Tyros 3 to 4, where it felt like the sounds of Tyros 4 had been smothered with butter and honey. This is obviously even better; silky smooth and mellow - a joy to hear. The sounds in Celtic Hymn (one of my faves), I just cannot wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing and I am very much looking forward to years of goose bumps.
Yeah. I feel ya. I got a PSR530 and thought that was pretty sweet. This beast is on a whole nuther level. The voices have so much refinement and depth. If I had one you could lock me away forever with it (and a computer to record on of course)
Possessed by the spirit of Jim Bowen! Laughing with tears in my eyes, best entertainment on YT in a long time! Loving the playing too, major skill being witnessed here, thanks Leigh
Can’t wait to get my Genos2 hopefully before Christmas if Yamaha can supply my supplier! The more I hear the better it gets, so thank you Leigh for demonstrating what this instrument can produce.
Leigh I share your passion and have had tears .... watching You tube!!!! Thought that would never happen. My Genos 2 is scheduled to arrive early next week!!! Bought it from Sweetwater (I'm in Ohio, USA). I have had a Tyros 5 and know it inside out. Never pulled the trigger on Genos, and now I'm so excited I can't stand it. I have a P-515 piano hooked up via Midi with my Tyros, and it makes a HUGE difference in ability to express with the keyboard action. I can't wait to hook it up to Genos 2. I've been watching lots of videos, but frankly, I enjoy yours the most (not smoozing here)...because your authentic love and passion I share....and I've never player or heard a Genos live!!!! One technical question. I have lots of software for Tyros 5, including your amazing Epic Strings 1 and 2. Will the work via expansion manager with Genos 2, or will you be producing Genos 2 versions of your more popular products. Again, I have Tyros 5 versions and am hoping that my existing registrations (hours of tweaking as you can imagine) will transfer and be useful. However, what I have been learning from your videos is that I probably ought to just start over since Genos 2 is so more advanced than Tyros 5. You convinced me to go from T5 to G2. I'll be in touch to likely join your group if you'll have me. I love a variety of styles, love music, playing piano most of my life and love it, especially big band, jazz, and easy listening....and yes, ballads. Also appreciate your ability to move through the styles and just play like a regular guy like me. It makes me feel better about the 6,000 I just paid!!!! Open to any advice about how to get started and how much to mess with all my Tyros 5 stuff. You know how you can love past stuff, but who has the time when such amazing gold lives and awaits within this amazing instrument. Just full of gratitude (tis the season) to be able to afford it and have the health and mind to understand, play, and appreciate it. Thanks. I feel like I know you, and all I've really done is watched you on You Tube and appreciate your Epic Strings and Hollywood pack - and also some of the registration packs. Sorry for such a long post. You inspired it. Get some rest and food......lol. Dave Beam
In 2016, I started as a beginner & completely 'self taught' player (playing by ear) on my new PSR S970, so am in no way accomplished like you. But, Genos 2 has so much on it, it will keep me going for years I'm sure. I watch many other brands too, but keep coming back to Yamaha. Great videos too, Thank You :)
Hi Leigh. Will watch your new video tomorrow. Just sat through the latest Peter Baartmans demo and the G2 has some amazing sounds. He played a tune from Yentl and the violin at the end, oh my word. Very much looking forward to trying mine when it arrives 🎉.
Another stunning video showing some of the features of this keyboard Leigh. You make everything seem so effortless yet produce some wonderful music. Big thanks again. Alex
Good on you, Leigh, another sensational demo and one hopes finally all the puzzling negativity which we experienced during the launch will have now dissipated. My Genos will be retired and, in the meantime, Sweetwater in Indiana will be sending the new Genos2 my way to San Diego, California, in 2 weeks. I have been enjoying this and your other Genos2 videos while going on extended walks around the lake near my home (it is a very good way to prevent a bad back). It’s perfect walking entertainment. Thank you again.
fantastic a great hour and a half of great music , i ordered one and cant wait to get playing got to be better than my yamaha psr 8000 , looking forward to the next video
you play verry wel it is an amazing instrument , i know it myself for a few days i am also a proud owner off a genos 2 thank you for this beautiful video mr wilbraham greetings from belgium
Hello Leigh, another fabulous video again. I’ve since ordered a Genos2, I was shopping around and found some great trade in prices for my Genos1 & a couple of other older keyboards I have, the offer was too good to be true but it was true so I took it. Now just playing the waiting game but at least I can watch your videos to continue wetting my appetite ! The combo of this and my other two TOTL’s is going to be killer and will cover almost everything.
I have order my Genos 2 and trade my Genos 1 .but after seeing and hearing ur video i become more happy and less in patient to receive my new Genos2. Thank u Leigh for ur wonderful viedeo👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That is best , any artist can use that , with fantastic studio engineers can blow some minds . It takes me a split second hearing tone . And Yamaha Genius is fantastic.
Fabulous demo Leigh much better than others I have heard can’t wait for mine to be delivered I have been promised it will be before Christmas. Best wishes to you and have a good festive season. Ron Kendall.❤😅
I started with the Yamaha PSR 800. Started using that for my ministry visiting convalescent homes and small worship groups and people just stuck at home. I have a Tyros2, Tyros5 but it's getting too heavy. I'd setup and just want to take a nap. I did not have the money for the 28 pound Genos. I started saving for the Genos2. In the mean time I purchased the Medeli but it did not make the cut. I've save up the money and am gonna buy the Genos2 and a nice case in the next couple of weeks. Thank tou for your honest reviews.
I’ve seen a few negative comments - must be jealousy because they haven’t got one. Your two videos highlight what a magnificent keyboard this is. The styles are beyond compare!
Yes, positivity is also weird unless you never heard the Genos 1. It's mostly Genos 1 users that are pissed, not because this is a bad keyboard, but because it's pratically the same. Nothing you hear here is something not doable in the Genos 1 sounding just the same. In fact, this Genos 2 just made Genos 1 one hell of a business opportunity before they start raising again, when this new baby doesn't sell...
Sounds like some of the Genos 2.0 upgrade stuff made its way over here. Intro II of 60sOrchestralSwing samples Frank Sinatra's "Swinging Down The Lane".
Just watching this video again, and you’re playing ‘the Happening’ to Crime Comedy Rump style; sung by the supremes and I first heard it on a Herb Alpert MFP LP in 1970.
I think yamaha, never forgot that music can be serious , but should also be very much about having FUN whilst playing. And having FUN comes across strongly, with this Genos 2. Great organ/piano/guitar sounds. Superb backing that inspire. No wonder wilbraham got a bad back. He carnt leave the genos. Great videos
It's crazy how some of these styles have been reworked. For example, I got "wild west" on my psr-s650, but obviously now that Genos is the top quality and also much newer, it takes it to a completely different level. And man, I love that whistle sound! I wish I had that on mine. I just don't know how accessible a Genos would be for someone without sight, like myself. On the psr-s650, everything important for me is layed out in a way that's very easy to find in just a few days. I wish there was a second edition, with the same design, but upgraded sounds.
Hi Leigh another great video, it sounds superb can’t wait to hear the instruments especially the Flugelhorn, maybe you could feature that in one of the next styles you feature, great video very informative with added humour lol. Del-from Kent
Hi Leigh, Many thanks for the entertainment and HQ demonstrations which clearly show the many enhancements and attractions of the new Genos 2. I'm pleased that I've ordered one. I only have one disappointment in Genos 2 - the lack of continuous sound capability when changing presets. This is momentarily noticeable in a couple of places when you change from amped guitar sounds to strings. I can live with it though.
I have taken the plunge and ordered a Genos 2. It should arrive early January so it will be a Happy New Year. If I can’t play like you by Valentine’s Day I will be chasing you for my money back! 🤣
I can not (never) afford a genos, but I just bought a Yamaha psr 473, and coming from a very old bontempi not even having touch sensitivity keys, I'm pretty sure, that I am just as excited with my psr473 as you are with your genos 2😅❤
As a musician keyboards are my specialty also the genre which is the envy reggae which the band plays a lot as we are from Jamaica. Request after request from numerous demonstrators of both the genius 1 and 2 to do some reggae styles I do a one man band and reggae/sica/Calypso are essential. Before I blindly purchase would appreciate a detailed demo of reggae like you do for other genres and styles thank you very much
There's only one big thing wrong with it Leigh.... I haven't got one. One style you played I was really hoping you would have played Crazy with it. Great video, great demonstration, fantastic keyboard.
WOW! That style with the tubular bells is simply stunning ... What is the name of the style please? As always played with such passion and expertise by Leigh ...
Really beautiful to hear the sound of this keyboard and of course your undeniable artistic ability. Too bad something like this will never come to Venezuela, I have to settle for my PSR E473 which doesn't sound at all like a Genos. In any case, it would never be possible for me to buy a Genos even if it arrived in Venezuela. I will enjoy his art. Thank you.
Thank you for the most enjoyable 90 minute demo For someone that’s playing from memory u do it so so well and I can see why This genos2 sounds so inspiring The sounds so Amazing
I finally finished watching this today. I will agree with you that Yamaha has most certainly pulled out the stops on this keyboard. I think you've uploaded at least two more than I haven't fully watched yet. I am going to be especially interested in the Jazz, Big Band, Latin and Ballroom styles, since that's the music I play mostly. One thing I did notice was how good the Harmonica was, and I'm wondering if they have a Jazz Waltz that would work for Bluesette, which a Harmonica and a Jazz Guitar. Yes, if I had the available funds, I would probably buy one. Unfortunately, right now, I don't.
Maestro, I love your playing! I got my Genos2 the day after launch (I'm probably the first lucky owner in Atlanta), having enjoyed my Genos1 since the first year it launched. Your catchy "got to lose control" video helped to sell me on it. Genos2 is truly a wonderful upgrade, but I'm finding some issues I wanted to share. The new style dynamic control setting cannot be saved into registration (even though the new style ambience setting can be saved). The full keyboard AI chord detection mode is much, much worse (Genos1 was about 98% accurate, Genos2 is about 75% accurate vs. the same songs, ugh...). Have experienced situations where polyphony apparently gets exceeded and style voices cut out for long periods of time, even though I'm playing my imported registrations and the Genos1 played them fine. Plus it is not seemingly possible that the cutouts happened due to polyphony truly being exceeded, there's just not that many voices being played when it happens. Speaking of imports, many of my expansion packs are not compatible via the Expansion Manager software, but I finally figured out that I could load them into Genos2 via a USB drive via the backup I took of the Genos1 drive (I followed the video Yamaha made on how to migrate data). Many of my imported Genos1 registrations don't restore the style and voice settings even when I used built-in styles and voices. While they fixed and improved lots of things with the software, some old nits remain. Why must I still press the uppercase arrow again after entering the 1st uppercase letter? It should work like Apple devices. Also, it is seemingly still impossible to remove MIDI/Audio songs from the home screen. All in all the plusses outweigh the minuses, but since I use the full keyboard AI chord detection pretty much all the time its lack of accuracy vs. Genos1 is a disappointment. I can't enjoy all the sound quality improvements when it keeps playing wrong notes. Hopefully they will find out about these issues and provide a firmware update. Looking forward to more of your videos about Genos2!
I have a Tyros4 and a Genos1. I thought there is little reason to move up to Genos 2 because there is still so much to learn yet on Genos 1. Your video has nudged me to speed up the move. Just don't have enough room for still another keyboard. Bought a Tyros1 when released and gave it away when I made the jump to Tyros 4. By the time we see a Genos4, I'll be over 100 so the Genos2 may be my last
I so enjoyed that. No kerfuffle just plain(Or not) and simple enjoyment. I will keep a watch out for the next instalment. Suppose I had better go and play my inferior Genos 1.....for now😉
Nice! Im wondering, are the different arranger parts their own midichannel so if one would like to use a specific synt outside the Genos, to play that part in the accompaniment? Say there’s a basspart in the accompaniment that I would like to be played with a sound on a Moog? Can it be done? Oh, and are the drums still using different samples so that say a snare sounds just a little different for each hit. (Like on the original Genos) Thank you.
The rearrangement effort is the most appealing thing about it. I wonder if the new versions of the styles will trickle down to the SX series, replacing all the basic 400-500 older ones they used to have. If so, its going to make the SX series a hit for the money. Unless you need some specific feature only Genos provides - a slightly improved SX engine should play these arrangements without a fuss.
Great Demo.... What I don't understand is why the Multipad is on the right, as it is part of a style and it would be more logic to have this on your left !
Thank you very much for your videos. Genos and Tyros had problems when you change sound from one to another and keep sustain, change is not smooth. Volume goes up from previous sound, and other stuff goes wrong. Is my ear wrong, or they solve this problem on Genos2 ?
@@LeighWilbraham Have they really finally managed seemless switching Leigh? One other thing l thought that might give a good comparison between the old and new if you agreed, would be to play the stalwart demo Game of Thrones that was one of the main demo songs when Genos first came out, on the old Genos 1 and then play it on the updated Genos 2 which will hopefully show the difference back to back. Great to watch your latest videos and hear what this new puppy can do!
@@thegambl3r Hi, In my opinion the problem has not been solved. You are still noticing these kinds of effect-jumping by changing registrations... @leigh: I'm I right?
Hi Leigh, I currently have a tyros 5 and have a lot of wav songs, probably around 300 songs on my hard drive. Will my wave sound the same on the Genos 2 or better and will I be able to stores them on the Genos 2, thanks 27:35
@@MrDecibel123 The internal drive is huge, but you could also add a permanent USB thumb drive. Also can the Genos play MP3 files, so you could save memory and when it is 320 kbs, the difference isn't audible.
@@andypruss Thank you very much for the answers. I hope in future update they will free one more GB for us who like importing new sounds. Are you familiar with company called sample creator from Italy? They did very good job making audio styles and samples for Genos that sounds fantastic, put sound on whole another level, but take a lot of memory. With their work we have some of Ketrons advantages also in Genos. So I hope they make more room for importing sounds.
@@jesua301 Hi, I hope that, too, I am convinced that Yamaha will rise the memory in a next update. I don't know the brand that you mentioned. But shure it is similar to "CMS" (owner: Peter Schips), that I know here in Germany. However, let's have fun with our keyboards 😉.
I have had Genos1 for 3 months and it is truly incredible compared to Tyros 5 76! which is in the second house! being the last Tyros! Genos makes the difference by being a new era of workstations!. Genos 2 is next I will buy Genos 3! and things will get more interesting, at least I hope so greetings from Italy for work I hope to bring some performances soon! a warm greeting Richi
Hello, my name is Aaron. I want to know if the Genos 2 has voice guide built into it for the visually impaired ! You are doing a great job! if somebody can answer this question to help a blind guy out it would be appreciated! thank you!
@@paulcocking5438 I wonder if somebody could do a video that would actually let me see how it works in the prior Gino’s it would get into the menus and it would stop talking so it was almost useless. I wonder if they improved it
LEIGH some of the songs u play i would like to down load leed sheet and try to play. Though I recognize the song l dont know their names. Would it be possible to say the name you are playing and I can write them down. Thank u much.
very lucky you are because here in Canada the Genos 2 is not available for now. I hear that our market is very small compared to England, France or Germany. I was ready to buy that new keyboard but I might wait who knows for over 6 months maybe a year to get one. My dealer in Joliette tells me that it was the same problems with Technics, we in Canada are the last country to get this keyboard. Its not a good idea to try to get one from other country because of the exchange rate which is very high for Canadians.
@@michellegault3637 Is there a way to find out ahead of time if you have to pay customs fees, or how much they may be? Is a used keyboard subject to the same fees?
I'm a big fan of Yamaha Musical instruments specially Pianos and Keyboards since i was 10 i had my first keyboard the PSR 240 a basic keyboard and upgrade to the psr e413 and dgx 650 and I liked the real piano sound of the CFIIS in the arranger Keyboards since tyros 4 but Genos 2 comes to the power of reality in the orchestral sounds as well guitars and bass also the synths

a truly great sounding keyboard and you play it wonderfully sir, my hat off to you, i enjoyed every moment of you playing, cheers m8
Great informative video. Sounds are amazing. Hopefully will be getting one in the new year. Many thanks
Hi Leigh. Your presentation is 100% better than the official Yamaha presentation 👌👌👌👍👍
That is the best demonstration of G2
I will buy it in Brazil
How much is genos in Brazil
I think yamaha, never forgot that music can be serious , but should also be very much about having FUN whilst playing. And having FUN comes across strongly, with this Genos 2. Great organ/piano/guitar sounds. Superb backing that inspire. No wonder wilbraham got a bad back. He carnt leave the genos. Great videos
Hi Leigh, thank you for your great demonstration of what is going to be a fantastic keyboard for Yamaha. 😊😊
My pleasure!
Thnxs for the review. Juist ordered my Genos2. Can’t wait to playboys myself.
Hi , master.
Kindly post styles and voices comparison between korg pa5x vs genos 2.
No one is posted.
Love your demonstrations and great narrative 👍😊
It's crazy how some of these styles have been reworked. For example, I got "wild west" on my psr-s650, but obviously now that Genos is the top quality and also much newer, it takes it to a completely different level. And man, I love that whistle sound! I wish I had that on mine. I just don't know how accessible a Genos would be for someone without sight, like myself. On the psr-s650, everything important for me is layed out in a way that's very easy to find in just a few days. I wish there was a second edition, with the same design, but upgraded sounds.
Great demos Leigh. ❤
Hi Leigh another great video, it sounds superb can’t wait to hear the instruments especially the Flugelhorn, maybe you could feature that in one of the next styles you feature, great video very informative with added humour lol. Del-from Kent
Thanks Del. Life is too short not to have some humour.
Hahahaah so funny. 😆 specially as I’m skint.
@@LeighWilbraham So will I be when the credit card statement arrives! Can I ask you where you honed your incredible talent? Paul
@@pauldgardner1 just hours of playing with headphones and no friends.
Fantastic Leigh.
Before I blindly purchase would appreciate a detailed demo of reggae like you do for other genres and styles thank you very much
Simpatico e bravo musicista, dimostrazione molto accattivante 🎹🎹🎹
Another winner, Leigh.
What the title of the song you played to the Irish hymn style; I recognised it from the Edinburgh tattoo on tv; the RAF sang it.
Eu tenho um sx600 mas sonho com um genos2, é um excelente teclado
Nice self effacing work, made me switch my PSR SX900 (which I have neglected, so many VSTs!) on . . .
There's only one big thing wrong with it Leigh.... I haven't got one. One style you played I was really hoping you would have played Crazy with it. Great video, great demonstration, fantastic keyboard.
Next video I’ll show that
Thank you.
Great playing! Some of those remind me of Cliff Adam’s sing something simple lol!
Great demo! Thank u!
CaptainSax 6/8 refers to a German Schlager act ‘Captain Cook and his Singing Saxophones’.
Thank you for the most enjoyable 90 minute demo For someone that’s playing from memory u do it so so well and I can see why This genos2 sounds so inspiring The sounds so Amazing
Can you please demonstrate any Oriental/Arabic sets and sounds that the keyboard has?
I grew up with country music i like almost all but country music is my favorite
I like country music the best as well. But with yamaha you have to learn to make your own country styles. I think I have made over 300 of them so far.
i love the chord progression you do with my heart will go on. the top gun style is amazing, and Irish hymn was nice too
Thank you.
Wow Yamaha! But the Best of the Video are you👍🏼🥰
I finally finished watching this today.
By the time we see a Genos4, I'll be over 100 so the Genos2 may be my last
As long as you enjoy what you play.
The Genos2 makes some serious spaghetti. Nice. Great playing.
Yes it does!
Hi Leigh on 16 minutes you asked what to do with that one. AMY Winehouse songs
Do you have a youtube on bonus playlist genos2
This is an amazing keyboard, although I can't afford it (it's either a mountain bike or this, about the same price), but thanks for 1:30 hours of joy!
Put wheels on this and you’re sorted.
gosh you're right :)@@LeighWilbraham
Yeh they have
@@LeighWilbraham Have they really finally managed seemless switching Leigh? One other thing l thought that might give a good comparison between the old and new if you agreed, would be to play the stalwart demo Game of Thrones that was one of the main demo songs when Genos first came out, on the old Genos 1 and then play it on the updated Genos 2 which will hopefully show the difference back to back.
Great to watch your latest videos and hear what this new puppy can do!
@@thegambl3r Hi, In my opinion the problem has not been solved. You are still noticing these kinds of effect-jumping by changing registrations... @leigh: I'm I right?
No. The reverb and effect do switch without a wall of loudness
Still enjoying Tyros 5 , but wow
Can you please do a video with just country? I wish the country balled that was on the psr- 270 was on there just updated
Hi Leigh, I currently have a tyros 5 and have a lot of wav songs, probably around 300 songs on my hard drive. Will my wave sound the same on the Genos 2 or better and will I be able to stores them on the Genos 2, thanks 27:35
Copy your files to a drive and load into Genos 2 will sound and work the same.
@@LeighWilbraham thanks, but can I copy the waves on the Genos internal memory or can they be played only from the USB stick
@@MrDecibel123 both
@@MrDecibel123 The internal drive is huge, but you could also add a permanent USB thumb drive. Also can the Genos play MP3 files, so you could save memory and when it is 320 kbs, the difference isn't audible.
How big is expansion memory in Genos2? 3 GB? I didn't find information on genos2 specification page...
You're right: 3GB
I have been saving for a Genos 1, but now I am afraid I will be disappointed after watching your Genos 2 videos.
Jim
Can't be long enough...! Thanks!!! 😊👍
I have had Genos1 for 3 months and it is truly incredible compared to Tyros 5 76! which is in the second house! being the last Tyros! Genos makes the difference by being a new era of workstations!.
Genos 2 is next I will buy Genos 3! and things will get more interesting, at least I hope so
greetings from Italy for work I hope to bring some performances soon! a warm greeting

Hello, my name is Aaron. I want to know if the Genos 2 has voice guide built into it for the visually impaired ! You are doing a great job! if somebody can answer this question to help a blind guy out it would be appreciated! thank you!
Hi Aaron - according to the Genos 2 Reference Manual, yes, it does have Voice Guide built into it.
Could you not buy one in the US and drive it over the border?
Yes but I will have to pay the custom fees and it might come too expensive
