Putin's new provocation? Redrawing Baltic Sea borders.

  • Two separate incidents involving Russia’s borders with Baltic states put the region on alert in recent days. The first was a draft document revising existing maritime borders with Finland, Lithuania and Estonia that was published without notice and then quickly deleted. A few days later, the Russia Estonia border was technically altered when buoys were moved by the Russians on the river Narva.
    Russia uses such hybrid warfare tactics to test the West, and events like this - when Putin attempts to redraw the Baltic Sea borders - show the tension points between Russia and its NATO member states.
    Our expert, Marek Menkiszak, talks about Russia’s aims in these actions (such as attempting to move Estonia’s border) and how these events relate to the ongoing war in Ukraine and Russia’s war with the West.
