I agree, Cy's doing a great job as Akihiko, it's just that it's probably the most dissimilar voice of the main cast, and people can't handle change lol.
As an OG fan, I agree it’s basically Voice acting whiplash. It took me maybe 3-4 months into the game before I was like “damn… this is actually quite spectacular on Alejandro’s part”. Especially with a certain September scene early in the month. You go from Liam O’Brien to Alejandro, it should be understandable why it’s so hard to get use to though 😅

But the new VA doing a pretty good job.
I don't play the game (P3R) myself but watching many people playing it makes the voice getting better cause I'm getting used to it.
P3R is my first persona game, just finished it and loved it, and noe playing P4G the lack of batton pass and not having SLs voice acted suprised me. They fell so obvious and natural in P3R that i have never considered that it hadn't always been like that
P3R is actually the first Persona game to have full voice acting for the Social Links. Meaning, not even Persona 5 Royal does this.

I am of the opinion that the VAs vary, they’re all HIGH QUALITY and in their own rights, AWESOME!! But they are different from their originals!
Yukari sounds brighter and higher pitched at times, Junpei and Shinjiro sound very similar to their originals, and Akihiko is very notably deeper in nearly every context, but I think they all did a great job in their roles!

If you are a newcomer, i think with this p3reload will be recommended to play, polish style, art, gameplay, and many more
As a newcomer, I wouldn't recommend this as place to start, I'd say to go with Persona 5 Royal first, as it's "easier" than Persona 3 Reload in the early game. I'm playing Reload on Merciless, the hardest difficulty, and compared to Royal's Merciless, it is actually harder, especially considering that 3 was originally the hardest game in the franchise, followed by 4. P3R is a great game thus far, but P5R is VERY beginner friendly. Both great games either way. There are MANY great games in this series, including 3 (Original, FES, Portable and Reload), 4 (Original and Golden), Q and Q2, 5 (Original, Royal and Strikers, Tactica is divisive). So try them out and see what you like

Man I'm loving the persona 3 reload content from everyone...it reminds me of how everyone was making content bout FF7 Remake/Rebirth. This game so far (ATM I'm in May of the timeline) is excellent! Yo 🤣 the way Omega looked at the camera when Mass Destruction dropped 🤣 reminds me of how Will Smith would look at the camera in Fresh Prince. Let's get it gamers! 🇨🇦🇬🇹🎮🔥

I never played p3 og or any persona game before beating reload. I'm happy to see someone who isn't new to the series being so hyped because I was getting so bummed about p3 fans complaining that this ruined the game. It is right now probably my favorite game I have ever played and I'm hopping into p5r now trying to play as many persona games as possible
