Deadlifts mainly work the spinal erectors and hamstrings. This makes it a great movement for making a string lower back to reduce injury risk (if done with no ego lifting). The traps get a weighted stretch and so are also activated as stabilisers., so help with upper back thickness.

I start my full body training off with deadlifts. Nothing wildly heavy but 3 sets 10 reps with 2 minutes rest. Your traps will grow like crazy and the details start to come in the entire back. Trigger is to push your heel through the ground and let your arms just be hooks🪝
I love deadlifts. Unfortunately I had a bad back injury that was unrelated to lifting and I can't do them regularly anymore. I notice a big difference during the periods where I can do them, however
I used to get a bad back from my carpentry job but once I started deadlifting it strengthened my lower back and now It’s bulletproof I go light for 12 reps x3 sets and rarely increase weight by much
Deadlifts are amazing for your back stability if your rep range and weight is responsible! I do 4x8 in a sort of pyramid set where the first and last set function as a warmup and cooldown set, works wonders!
Awesome! I've always liked them and of course they have to be off the floor! Thanks for the advice I was focusing in 8-12 Now I known 8 would be optimal
Man use your brain and think for yourself of course a rep range of 6-8 will work fine, he never said you can't do a higher rep range and get benefits from it
It’s so important for stability and overall strength. Bodybuilders need that, too. I’m always amazed by how many amateur bodybuilders seem to care nothing for overall health and utility.
I agree with this. After regularly deadlifting 2 times per week I can attest to the functionality of the exercise. So much lifting is done from the floor at my job and having that back stability is very reassuring and helps prevent injury :)
Franco is proof that deads are great. Arnold and Franco would actually stand on wooden boxes to make it harder. Arnold's book says only to do deadlifts once every two weeks though. You can't do them often or else you miss workouts.
I love deadlifts. I’m nowhere near as strong as you or Ronnie lol lol but I do 12 reps of 135 and then 3 sets of 10 of 225 to try to keep my stamina up lol

Whats interesting is that bodybuilders today do more deadlifts and rows while Golden era guys like Sergio and Franco did way more pullups and upright rows. I think its because in the Golden Era they wanted a wide back to build the V taper, but not necessarily a thick back from the side. Its probably an aesthetics thing
When you do unilateral exercises, perform your weak arm first. However many reps you did with that arm, do it with your stronger arm. That way your weak arm can catch up in strength to your strong arm but your strong arm doesn’t keep gaining strength too quickly
Not disagreeing with the legend Jay . But I myself feel like deadlifts are overrated and people just do them to show others how much they can lift off the ground haha . At least 90% of the people at the gym .
Deadlfts are absolutely a solid exercise- but not sure how necessary they are if youre trying to look like Jay Cutler lol. Actually a good variation which my yield more “visible” results is the rack pull. The rack pull forces you to use your lats a bit more and takes much of the hamstrings out of the movement.

FACTS!!!
Finally someone who speaks the truth ,most people who down play deadlifts are the ones who injured themselves with bad form
There is a reason why Squats, Deadlift and Bench Press are called the big three and were trained in several sports.
Dumbbell & barbell exercises >>>>> machine exercises
Deadlifts and squats are also beneficial for cyclists, or anyone who wants to have strong legs and stable core.
