First of all you are driving in am wrong line and should be on the left hand lane when taking the second exit on the roundabout. That’s in the beginning of the video. You are confusing ppl like us who are having their practical in a few days
Sorry to do this but it is you who is utterly wrong. I’m not sure who has been teaching you but your information is way off. The lane you choose on the approach to any roundabout has nothing to do with the number of the exit you are taking. If you take that into your test you are doomed 😬 Have a look at ruclips.net/video/44RnP5z6OdQ/видео.html to put yourself right.
Ashley Neal how does it work then ? The standard stuff is left and straight is the left side and right is right unless road marking says otherwise but even then it would be right and straight for right hope that makes sense
i passed back in oct 2017 couldnt of done it without these videos even tho my driving instructor was also great i found watching these the night before my lessons/test really helped me . even now after i have passed still check them out for reference points has having a license doesn't make you know it all you can always improve and learn. and would deffo recomend to others. thanks ashley neal.
Just want to say thanks for making these videos! They really helped with me at passing my test! Passed today 1st time. Your videos alongside my lessons really really helped!
Kabul Jan the new test is easier as there isn’t turn in the road or reverse around the corner. Also, taking directions from sat nav is clearer and you get direction well in advance. Furthermore, the speed limit is shown on the sat nav screen.
daniel 5h yeah,i think its easier but mine was like the old one cz my examiner didn't use sat nav,he gave me directions himself. But don't worry,u will definitely pass next time🙂
Right lane is used for overtaking on duel carriageways and turning right but can be used for going straight IF road markings direct you to do so left is standard lane
I passed my test 1st attempt i can even believe that school summer holidays On Top bank holiday wkend early morning no traffic calm and yes was my day 🚘🚘🚘
I'm confused as how the right lane is ok for going straight ? Unless road markings say otherwise it's confusing and he'll and isn't a minor it's a major !!!
Regarding the first double roundabout in the video, please could you advise whether the exits taken are considered right or straight ahead? Also, why did you exit in the right hand lane both times? Thanks!
The examiners from this test centre say right at the first then straight at the second roundabout. You should exit into the right lane potentially on both roundabouts as there could be cars to your left going the same direction as you. This is just because of the layout of the roundabout and the fact you could be stopping at the crossing halfway through which allows vehicles from different directions to catch up and be next to you. I hope that makes sense? I does in my messed up head. Thanks for the testing question, Ashley
Surely he could have also used the left lane to enter both roundabouts and then would have left his ultimate exit in the left lane. Here he used the right lane and ended up in the overtaking lane and had to change back to normal driving lane?
Reuben Leveson-Gower I thought exactly the same thing. I was taught to always use the left lane to exit a roundabout on a straight ahead exit and as a basic rule of thumb anything before and including 12 o'clock left lane anything after right lane
Reuben Leveson-Gower All the instructors in this area have had this out with the examiners many times before. I’m in agreement with you but it’s not how they want it done on test. Thanks for your input. Ashley
The examiners are wrong then - you can clearly see 1st roundabout a black taxi using left lane, then 2nd roundabout a white taxi using left lane. That is the way these work carrying a main road flow of 2 lanes. As you see your pupil eventually exited into the r/hand lane needlessly. I drive 40k a year / for last 25+ years all over - and would never recommend that r/lane positioning as correct in this situation.
Also why are you in the right lane for straight ahead? I'm very confused on this video all the way through I was scratching my head. everything about this video seemed wrong to me
Look at the road he’s entering the RA on. It’s a dual carriage way, as such you can use lane 1 or 2 to enter and exit the RA so long as you remain in your own lane and move only when clear and safe to do so.
Hi Ashley Neal, thnks for your voluntary invaluable video. Please, I am feeling little bit confusion the time 16:00 upto 16:18, please could you give me any explaination about this issue. Sat-Nav is saying bend left then turn right but it seems me bend left then turn left.
26:16 presumably it doesn't matter that you pulled in just after the next parked car as it would have been very tight to get in before it and the instructions hadn't quite been completed when you were passing it?
Ashley Neal same but I feel it's high time driving test get tougher because nowadays youngsters love to speed more but Ye having said that that one right hand side of parking is too dangerous for new drivers but let's hope this new driving test knock some sense into today's youth
Asim Ali hi making the test harder is not going to change the ones speeding and causing accidents it's down to driver attitude (we don't show then how to speed) I think after a pupil passes there test they should not be given there licence that day they should be made to attend a classroom appointment and they should be shown the dangers if they get it wrong as in accidents mobile phone show the horrific mistakes on the road and drum it into them that all accidents are due to driver error because they drive as if it will never happen to them and they are better than everyone else What do you think
I think everyone who has just passed their test or has been driving for a long time should be made aware of this too, the majority of people I see on their phones are middle aged adults not teenagers. I think everyone gets a bit cocky, especially those who have been driving for a very long time
Not necessarily, if there are no markings you can use left lane to go left and straight and right to go straight and right. Sometimes right lane can go left, but it's rare. But again, no markings so as long as it's done safely then it's fine
@@TYapril well he quite clearly states in the video title and description that it's a test route 😂 No, not all routes involve a dual carriageway and a big roundabout! Routes aim to cover a variety of road types and conditions but not every one can include every possible scenario. There's a lot of variation from one area to another, too. My local test centre has several different routes... only one of them incorporates a stretch of dual carriageway and it's not for very long, there's also no "big" roundabouts in the area (by "big" I assume you mean multi-lane?). There is however a roundabout I do on my lessons where you are meant to use the right lane to go straight ahead, so yes, sometimes it is correct.
Oh, I get it, so if there are no signs then use the left lane for going left and ahead but if the roundabout tells people that going ahead requires you to use the right lane than use the right? Is that right? That is so dangerous. why would the government specification advise one thing and then purposely design a roundabout that contradicts this rule? About 80% of people in the comments think he was in the wrong lane. It would throw me if I was following this person, to be honest. grr I hate this. I'm so confused.
When driving on a dual carriageway with parked cars on the left, you can remain in the centre of the road with enough space for vehicles to pass you on the right to indicate that you are remaining in the "left" lane.
@@ElderScrollsGamer Very true, you can also go into the right-hand side of the road when overtaking stationary vehicles with oncoming traffic it does not just duel carriageways. I disagree with the roundabout tho, it would throw me if the person in front got in the right lane but went straight ahead. Maybe you could enlighten me on this because I'm stumped. I don't want to say he was wrong unless 100% sure.
Elizabeth McNamara If you’re passing through a roundabout it’s practice to follow these rules: Turning left - get in the left hand lane Continuing straight ahead - you can use the left or right hand lane Turning right - use the right hand lane. I quite often use the right hand lane to move straight ahead through a roundabout. As long as you use good signalling and look into your left hand mirror when leaving the roundabout there won’t be any issues as other drivers will be aware you’re moving straight on. The thing that generally annoys me the most when driving however is drivers in the left hand lane going right around the roundabout and exiting to the right. That’s how accidents are caused.
Omg both times for second exit driver approached on right side and exited on right lane. When it should’ve been left lane approach with no signal then past first exit before signalling to leave on the left side of the lane for second exit. Ashley Neal I don't understand ? The left lane is for left and straight usually and the right is for right lane which the Sat nav will mention
Ashley Neal how does it work then ? The standard stuff is left and straight is the left side and right is right unless road marking says otherwise but even then it would be right and straight for right hope that makes sense

Got this route today and passed 1st time!
2:40 wasn't that the wrong side of the road?
John Kiltcher some roundabouts are differently marked that way, many round here are.
Natalie Farrell McLean there's no markings though ? There's just 1 exit which is around 12 o'clock which is straight
Also unnecessarily hesitated and stopped.

More videos like this please!
Thank you
Nothing wrong with what he done at the roundabout at all.
Excellent I like this video
I would like to ask to ask the difference bw 'bear left" and turn left pls..

Bend left and turn left(satnav), whats the difference please?
Nelson Dave bend left means staying to the left but not an actual junction or turn and turn left is a proper turn
Please lane issue is misleading.
Where is this??
Can u give me mock test my test is on 13th December
Satnav instructed second exit, Broadway shops, you went third .
Broadway shops is not a junction off the roundabout, it’s a junction off Utting Avenue.
Is that all? The route doesn’t cover a dual carriage way?
Not this one :) Thanks, Ashley
But won’t every driving test include driving on a piece of dual carriage way and a big roundabout? This video isn’t a real test video, right?
