This would have been the closest thing in the 50s to carrying a phone in your pocket now. At least this could inform you of weather and whatever was local if you were traveling.
it sure is a quite nice looking and stylish all American pocket radio. I personally think a brown one would have looked gorgious along with that golden colored tuning dial.. Did Emerson issue a brown version at all?
@@collectornet I googled the model and found what appears to me as light blue. Didn't see a gray one, though a darkish gray version would have been the perfect color for this particular design, in my opinion.
Thank you for another fine video, I like Emerson's line of radios, they seem to be one of the few brands that labeled them with names such as Vangard and Pioneer. I have many novelty radios in my collection, some are rare like the Lunalit, I don't think I've seen you talk much about novelties, do you enjoy them?
That Emerson 888 is absolutely gorgeous 🏆
Merry Happy, Transistor Guy! Thanks for being in my 2024 and filling my wonder with your consistently intriguing and inspiring content! ❤-Glen
Thank YOU! You made my day!
Yep, the black

I had one of these, but the battery went bad a loooong time ago. It got thrown away a long time ago unfortunately. I sure would love to have it still.

I don't know of a brown one. Besides the red, white, and black ones shown, they also made a gray.

I wonder what is in Jersey City New Jersey where Emerson use to stand.?

Some of them, yes. I've shown a few on these videos. More to come!
