Hey Man ...this video is exactly what I needed. You should add to the title that includes Case 580d steering control valve. Very similar except it has 5 hoses. But the lower end is exactly the same. You know when you said ocrap....I didn't thanks to your video. You know what else I didn't do...I didn't over clean the edge to shorten it.. thanks again. My rubber piece when I held it up to the light I could almost see through it. I believe the rust and pits behind it caused it to thin. I sanded the inner ring with a drill brush and got it better but not perfect That steel band is $350.00. Make some and sell them if you want a cash flow. The rubber retainer was $37 00 plus shipping from Midwest Steering. Putting it back together Thursday when My retainer gets here. Thanks again....one big man hug sent your way!

This is a life saver as I've been looking for a steering control for a 464 International. After finding a few used ones for way to much and the cheapest new or reman was $1750 I decided to at least try to fix it. It is almost identical to yours. By the way the manual says to avoid scratches in between those plates, that being perfectly machined is what prevents leaking. And that makes sense since you didn't find an o ring or gasket. God Bless and appreciate you

Thanks for the video, I love that moment when parts fell out and you realized you just made thing a lot harder than they needed to be. :) Been there!

I have exactly the same steering motor, done by TRW for a 3500A INTERNATIONAL(1973), but at the end i messed up by tightening the cap misaligned with the little middle part, and it cracked the center part, VERY BRITTLE PARTS.

Thanks! This is another thing I need to fix on mine.
I think it's against the New Holland terms of ownership to pay less than $500 for any given repair... so thanks for an inexpensive reconditioning video! (It would have taken me a couple of days to give up on flat o-rings... and if they had actually sealed, to figure out that they would space things too-far apart.

Be careful taking this little gem of engineering marvel apart. I managed to get mine back together successfully but it was trying for sure

Midwest Steering has the rubber retainer. At least for a Case 580d.
