When 9pm was released I was a teenager (12-13 years old). ATB was one of the reasons I started to like Dance Music and want to create my own tracks. As we fans used to say: ATB = Always The Best! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
@@thatstrami not as epic as the 90s when everything was coming up for the first time ever , for exemple : first trance hymns and Eurodance classics in history that no other songs can top them today, it was the real deal in that era , the 2000s were a shity transition for many DJs who started doing horrible trendy stuff, very few ones remained faithful to their roots like PVD, even in clubs the atmosphere was not the same anymore , it was okay, but the dreamy feelings were no more, by the end of the 2000s I was done with clubs
@@Gjallarhorn84 " the 2000s were a shitty transition " --- you remember timelines very differently from the actual facts. The real shitty transition started in late 2010s and went into 2020s (past years) really awful, mainly thanks to Armin and his Armada label collections and their war on good taste. The 2000s gave a huge amount of incredible melodic Trance tunes, for god's sakes! Hell, this tune here, 9PM was nearly in 2000 (October 1998, plus the time needed for the album Movin' Melodies to become known and epic everywhere from 1999 to 2000s).
I was born in 1970. Everyone goes on about how great the 80s were and sure, I can think of some specific things that give me a nice sense of nostalgia. But the 90s, man. That was it. 90s were the best, no question. Wish I could time-travel with my wife now and go through the 90s again but with her.
18 in the summer of 99 this tune just hit the era perfectly. Massive song on holiday, in clubs, in car everywhere. Sound of our youth along with so many other bangers.
At the starting of my DJ career my biggest goal was to play at a club called Rote Sonne here in Munich, and once the day came where I played there, I closed my set with that track. 9PM is a magical song ! Absolutely timeless. What a great interview by the way !
Yes, the melody always tickles the brain in the same way every time you hear it. Very euphoric, very seductive, brilliant track. It deserves to be in the top 10 dance songs of all time.
Iconic, I still remember like it was yesterday, is like I sneezed and there you go 26 years later, if he only knew all the love stories his vibe produced, the energy between youngsters before social media. I sound melancholic but still in love with musicafter 44 years of existence , still in pursuit for the best 2024 trance, psy trance, drum n bass, hardstyle, techno, hip hop playlist 🤩 On my death bed I'll refuse to die without music 🥳
I remember when it was first released on MoS’s new Data Records vinyl-only off shoot in the UK, in March 1999. It charted at #68, which was impressive for just a 12” sales at the time. Due to there being no CD Single, people started buying the German and Australian import CD Singles, so it charted a couple of separate times in the UK Top 75 in May/June. MoS then released it on their Sound Of Ministry main label in July, which then charted straight in at #1. The vocal is by Spanish model Yolanda Riviera, lifted from a TV appearance she’d made earlier in the year. He seems like a genuinely decent guy, respect Andre! Great video DJ Mag!
I love the melody am album. Purchased it on cd when it came out. This interview makes me appreciate it more. His attitude and humble demeanor show what type of person he is.
What a legend. What a wonderful ageless classic track. Each day I play it, after 25 plus years sounds as fresh as ever and full of emotions and great memories. Thank you ATB. 🙌🔥❤️🔥🙌
Year 1998 , 7 years old me , first time hearing a trance song on TV. At that time it was realy hard to hear world-wide electronic music in Bosnia. We had one Serbian channel who provided us a foreign music hits. Since the day i heared 9pm for the first time, till now , that song is magical for me. Later on i was listening ATB a lot , he made a lot of classic dance hits + his live performance is realy something special. ATB formed my musical taste and love for the trance music 4ever! Thank You ATB!
This video surprised me. Thank you for sharing this story guys! 9PM (Till I Come) reminds me of my childhood and it was from the first tracks which made love Trance and I had included in my first mixes when I was 15. What a beautiful tale behind this legendary track. Andre is extremely talented. I am listening for years various of his works. I feel blessed I experienced this track in the right era. And of course there are many more tracks which showing his talents. One of them is the Renegade with Heather Nova. Both the original mix and his remix as A&T. Emotional stuff.
I remember when I had my first CD radio in my car. Among the songs on the CD was ATB- 9 PM. Those were unforgettable years and memories that will stay with me forever.
9 P.M. is a big part of the reason I love dance music! Back then, I hadn't enough age to go to clubs, but somehow, listening to this one and many others on the radio on Saturday night while laying down in my bed transported me to the best parties out there! Thank you, Andre, for this precious gem!
Saaaaame! Takes me right back to not being of age to club yet but lounging in my room, excited to rave one day 😭 26 years later tho and JFC did I rave my ass off👏🏼 😂
I still remember hearing for the first time in 1998 when I was on my way to a party. It was audible outside the building, and I was blown away by the melody. I rushed to get in to hear the song at proper volume. I still think it's one of the best dance tracks to this day!
The song came out when I was at the climax of my DJ career. I performed like every 2nd night and some tracks had to be played every night over and over again, sometimes a couple of times per night. When you hear songs dozens of times each week and you are forced to play them, they usually get boring. But not this one. I still enjoy listening to it after all these years. The pitch bend is classic, it was copied hundreds of times BUT no one did it as intense and nice as ATB. Thank you for this great piece of club history…
1997 was somehow the most dangerous time of my entire life. And 1998 I was so happy to have found my way back home, I had to dance my heart out. And then, there was this bended guitar. I went absolutely crazy. 9PM is grown to an absolute monster. I am sure that this is something like the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" or Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in terms of influence. Thank you, André for THIS amazing song.
In 1995, his Sequential One track "Pump Up the Bass" was playing in an Aussie music store. I loved it and bought the single immediately. I later bought the album. A few years later, 9PM comes out. I checked the credits in the ATB CD liner and was surprised to see it was the same guy with this big hit 😄
I was at a party 2 weeks ago in Budapest, where ATB played too. I was lik ... what a cool thing it would be if he plays 9pm at 9pm. And guess what... he did play it at 9pm :D it was cool to be there.
One of my all time favourite tracks 🧡 I was 8 years old when it came out, I remember my parents playing it in the car and hearing it everywhere. A real sound of summer! Thank you DJ mag, and big big thank you to ATB 🙌👏

The timing of this video is fantastic. I just picked up an old copy of the album this song came from (Movin' Melodies) for the first time ever and have been enjoying this CD in my car like the day it came out. Some of the tracks from the album are truly worth listening to alongside this classic hit, some of my personal favorites are Too Much Rain and Beach Vibes. 9PM was a key part of my childhood growing up, but especially the Signum and Sequential One remixes which bring a vibe of their own. It's really hard to not enjoy this song for it's iconic guitar plucks and will forever be one of the greatest dance anthems of all time.
Damn it 5 second intro and I just got goosebumps and major euphoria all over my body. That's what you do for me with this track. You literally raised me from a rave child. I'm so very grateful for your contribution to dance music and the world. Such a legend! ❤️
Early two thousand I saw him live in a club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. One of the dancers climbed on the stage and started dancing in a very provocative way facing him. He called one of security guys and showed him his wedding ring and asked the girl to be removed from the stage. After his set he came to the dance floor to speak with his fans, and I had the privilege to speak with him for about ten minutes. Absolutely an amazing human being.
This song started my 25 year obsession with trance music. This album changed my world. I did always think 'Don't Stop' should have preceded this song instead of follow it.
I had your music playing qhich i bought in thr south of Swedwn where i lived and you wete quite big there and you're the first ever artist ive heard that take it as a credit knowing people bootleg your music. That's on such a different level compared to wveryone else suing dolk feom left to right. Thank you for 9 pm and everyrhing else you have done.
Hello sir, I think you from bottom of my heart for that song. It was the best time ever in my life. I loved my childhood and youth so much. The trance era was a perfection and impossible to explain all those feelings. And you sir were an important part, I hope you realized that you had a very positive inpact on many peoples lifes. I wish you very best, sorry for my basic english - was good at it but didn't use it for 15 years. Skill runs away. Best from switzerland
This is one of the most iconic tunes, especially the music listeners from the 90s know it. One of the first few songs I used to listen to when I had just come across trance/electronic music.
One of my favourite songs of all time! I still listen to it all the time now. Plus the version with Topic. I also love Don't Stop, Killer & Fields of Love.

Big fan of Sequential One/ATB since the early days! Thanks for producing this documentary. Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do one of Gigi D'agostino L'amour toujours!!!!
I heard this on a local radio station when I was 14ish, I never liked dance music before accept for Daft Punk, but my ears pricked up and I listened back to the same station for weeks hoping to record it. Started my whole journey into Dance Music and culture.
This was a constant track on the boat, floating in lake Union in Seattle in the beginning of the 2000s, middle of the night, all of us rolling HARD! It was always a go to TRACK!
The vocals on 9PM came from the acapella of Ricky Rich and Julio Posadas - The Way You Make Me Feel, sung by Julio’s ex girlfriend Yolanda Rivera. ATB was denounced by Julio for copyright and now he owns the 50% of the rights of the track.
Interesting. How about the 1992 Detroit artists, Never On Sunday, and their track- Seduced By Madness… That guitar riff sounds awful close. What are your thoughts?
Another great track and it was completely different to everything else when it came out :) Had he pleasure of doing a remix For ATB at the end of the 90's :) so big fan.
Andre, I hated your song "The summer". The first few times I've listened to it. And it was the first song i've got acquainted with your tracks. And the more I heard this track, the more I liked it. I started listening to your music 19 years ago and you will always be number 1 for me. When people ask me who my favorite artist is, I answer ATB) And yes, 9PM with Topic was the first track in my first car, and the first version of this track inspired me to start writing music, many years ago. Thank you for your wonderful music❤

The Moving Melodies album was a heavy rotation in my youth. This song is emblematic and iconic. Halcyon and Ecstasy are superb as well.
I still play Movin' Melodies every summer (very much a summer album for me). It's simplistic in style but so pure and a much-missed sound.
No silence was probably his greatest album
Words of truth which I agree with my friend!
You can't talk about 90's dance music without mentioning ATB. His work is the definition of the original ambiance of old school European dance music.

It’s an incredible tune, so many memories I will keep forever
Absolute classic. A reason I got into DJing 😍🙌🏻
Timeless! Classic Trance, ❤ greetings from Spain.
Enjoy!
Right, not many people know that. Julio himself told me the story.
Interesting. How about the 1992 Detroit artists, Never On Sunday, and their track- Seduced By Madness… That guitar riff sounds awful close. What are your thoughts?
:O
Thanks fir that info. Its like cocos star and fragma
He turned mid song into GOLD
A true legend. This song gave me so much joy. So many beautiful memories.
Such a timeless melody 😌🌅🌊🌿🐍❤️🔥🙏
Classic! Love it even today.
Оne of the most rotating songs in Bulgarian radio stations in the late 90's.
Thanks ATB for the melody and for the memories.
TIMELESS
❤❤❤
