I absolutely loved watching your journey. Several years ago my daughter wanted the two of us to take this same trip from NY to LA but I said no because I thought the trip was too long for me. Now, after watching this video, I am sorry that I didn't go. Watching your video has given me a different perspective regarding Amtrak, especially riding in one of the roomettes. Thank you for sharing your journey. I didn't expect to watch the entire video, but the two of you made it so interesting that I couldn't stop watching it.
I live in Australia and have no immediate plans to return to the US.. but I watch ALL of your videos on all of your channels religiously. Because of you I have put an Amtrak lap of the US on the top of my bucket list and spend so many joy-filled hours planning our future adventures. And we will definitely be trying the steak and salmon... you have sold us on those dishes, they are definitely a regular choice for you both. Thank you!
My husband and I are taking our first Amtrak trip, Chicago to Emeryville, in February. I am so very thankful that I came across your videos early to avoid several of the mistakes I know we would have made! We are watching and rewatching them and making lists to help us have the best 1st time experience! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.!
Oh the euphoria of it all, this was an exciting ride, with breathtaking views 😍, all the meals presented, looks so fresh & mouth watering, I can't wait to take my first trip on this train, I just turned 50 and have not flown or rode on a train, I got a feeling I'm going to enjoy it....
We were on the Zephyr from Emeryville to Chicago 24-26 May. This was our first train trip and took it because of your amazing videos. We did a round trip from Chicago to Seattle to Emeryville then back to Chicago. Thanks for your travel tips!
Agree with you about Amtrak coffee! It's surprisingly good. After discovering that a few trips ago, it's now something I actually look forward to every time! If you're in a sleeper car, definitely take advantage of it. There's nothing like sipping a good cup of coffee while taking in some amazing views. On Amtrak, it's the views, the crews and the brews!
We are doing this trip right now! Sort of -- my daughters and I took our first ever train trip out to the east coast, then took the Lakeshore Limited and the Zephyr back last week, currently on a one week layover in Emeryville since we live here :) and then hopping on the Coast Starlight down to LA tomorrow morning! I've learned so much from your videos -- a big thank you!! We can't wait to explore more of the country this way!
I’ve been watching RUclips videos of Amtrak travels for a couple of years, and longing for the day when I can take one myself. Your videos are the best ones I’ve seen. Informative, fun, helpful, and very professional. I feel like I know you, and if I ran into you somewhere we would be friends! Thanks for sharing your travels.
I am so glad that I found your channel. I have enjoyed several of your trips. I find your videos so peaceful. Sometimes, I just turned them on and let them play in the background. Thank you.
I took my first Amtrak trip back in September, my first ride since I was a little girl, and after all of the hassle and hustle and bustle (and stuck in the airport, waiting in security lines, missing your connecting flight, AND being stuck overnight in a hotel with no luggage)... it was the most RELAXING and stress free trip I've ever taken (and that includes driving since I live along the I-95 corridor!). Your videos remind me of that, and I love it! I was going to do it for Christmas, but the airlines messed up so badly that I couldn't get the business class or roomette, so I decided to let all of the madness die down before doing it again!
"The best views" on the Coast Starlight are many. Yes the California coastline is absolutely breathtaking, but when you're winding through the mountains in (it's either northern Oregon or southern Washington) it's awfully nice, as well. Glad you had a good trip and got to see most of Amtrak's best sights.
Looks great! I'm planning to spend a month or so Amtrakking around the states next year to mark a... significant birthday. Still working out routes etc but your channel is full of really useful information to help with the planning.
Thank you all so much for taking us along on the trip! The views were amazing, the room descriptions were on point ! We use to travel on Amtrak when we were little and it was so much fun! This video really has convinced me to plan a trip real soon on Amtrak.
I really enjoy watching you guys enjoy your meals. I paused the video and went and made myself a plate because I got hungry watching all that tasty looking food. I had a vicarious eat-along. Love your videos. They're a bright hopeful spot in today's society..
I look so forward to your videos and don't want them to end. I'm known for binge watching for hours. I've taken Amtrak twice to MI in coach but I feel so informed that I can get a roomette on a future trip if I go far enough. Thanks, Allie and Rob!
As someone who has travelled the Northeast Regional through Penn Station for over 40 years, all i can say about Moynihan is Wow! So jealous on your cross country Amtrak adventure but very happy for you.
Yall are cute 😁 very enjoyable video. I've always wanted to go cross country on train, but I thought it would take so much longer! I'm glad I watched this video 👍🏾
I've enjoyed watching many of your train travel videos, they are always informative and enjoyable. I'll probably be planning a rail trip for later this summer. When you were showing how to set up your bed the first night it brought to mind how I like to travel when in a roomette. I like to sit in the larger of the two seats and I set the other seat flat as if for the bed so that I can have my legs up on the flat seat (yes, I take my shoes off and have a blanket on the flat seat) and there's still enough of a gap to put my legs down between the seats.
Many years ago my Mom and I took the same trip - NYC-LA. The only difference I noticed is that once we got to Chicago (Lake Shore Limited), we changed trains to either the Zephyr or another train on that route which took us to LA - no third train. We came into LA from the south, after leaving Las Vegas the train went south then up to LA - the trip took three days from NYC-LA. It was a great trip then and I see it's still a great trip. Thanks for sharing!

My goodness, if Amtrak is ever able to offer coast to coast "bullet trains" they will be sold out in an instant. NY/BOS/DC or MIA to LA/SF/Portland or Seattle in 10-12 hours in each direction. I know it will never happen but, ah, I can dream. This video was wonderful. I just pressed the "subscriber" button, and am so glad I did.

I really enjoy watching your video's on train traveling the US, and also the ones in EUROPE. I hope someday to see you doing the same in JAPAN and on their different trains and ferries.
I make & can my own cranberry sauce. I love to make brie on croute with it for an appetizer. Lay pastry down on a cookie sheet, place a wheel of brie ( I personally remove most of the white wax), add homemade cranberry sauce on top of brie, and fold pastry around brie and sauce pinching to close. Brush top of pastry with butter and bake at 375° until pastry is golden brown…. In place of cranberry sauce, I’ve also used strawberry jam, orange marmalade, fig preserves, apricot jam, etc. you can also add nuts, as well….. serve with crackers of your choice.
The views across the states are so beautiful. I did have the opportunity to ride the entire Pacific Surfliner route from SLO to San Diego. I had an event in San Diego so it was the perfect time to ride the train. I really enjoyed seeing the coastline of California. :) Love your videos!
Just finished watching your video... awesome coverage! I'm also an Amtrak enthusiast, been on most of the routes (some multiple times) but the CA Zephyr is still on my list... BTW laughed at how you skipped over arriving at LA Union Station... 🤣 uh yea, welcome to our fair city. And thanks for recommendation for Formosa Cafe - lived down the street for years and never ate there. Planning to dine there next week. Enjoy your adventures!
I saw an add for Star Trek strange new worlds in the video. Best Star Trek show ever created. I just took Amtrak wolverine this past week to Chicago. It arrived early. Even though it had a mechanical breakdown which was ac breaking on 95 degrees temperature, 15 minutes delay in Battle Creek to let the other train to pass, and a speed limit of 85 degrees do to the heat the train didn’t reach the top speed of 110 miles per hour.

I really enjoy watching your video's on train traveling the US, and also the ones in EUROPE. I hope someday to see you doing the same in JAPAN and on their different trains and ferries.
Thanks so much! We are hoping to go, we are in Thailand right now as I type this!
I'm doing mu masters right now and think this will be my spring break travel with my lady
Nice job.... you did a great tour!
Thanks!
I Do NOT fly ( heights,) but My mom went on a train years ago and so this is great for those of us who don't fly.
We prefer it to flying too!
Great video as always
Thanks!
Thx for the journey.
I have always wanted to travel by train but found it to hard to figure out everything. Thank you for teaching me how.
The views across the states are so beautiful. I did have the opportunity to ride the entire Pacific Surfliner route from SLO to San Diego. I had an event in San Diego so it was the perfect time to ride the train. I really enjoyed seeing the coastline of California. :) Love your videos!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi wow, so much fun!
Thank you 🤗
Just finished watching your video... awesome coverage!
Thanks so much, Formosa was great!
Love and appreciate your videos.
Thanks so much!
Summer speed restrictions! Surprisingly we've never been on the Wolverine even though Rob is from Michigan!
@@GroundedLifeTravel the Amtrak wolverine is actually getting some new train sets from Siemens. I do believe they are the Siemens venture coaches.
Such a wonderful trip. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
If I am ever in Chicago I will definitely try Al's beef, that is my kind of sandwich. I loved the video, good job.
The best improvement to would be viewliner trains with traditional dining cars. That looks like it would be the best option.
