  • Another great day in the woods. I set up the tarp, hung up the EFHW Sardine cantenna, and made coffee. I tried 20 and 40m Digi modes on FLDigi, it doesn't work properly.
    The JS8 mode also didn't work properly, but that's not a big deal since there aren't many users anyway.
    I made a few short QSOs on 20m SSB and tested the DMR repeater.
    This is the best way to get to know all the flaws of our communication systems, go to the field, set everything up, and test it.

    Trucker's hitch - nice to see someone that knows the right knot for the job.

    Would you consider adding chapters to your ling videos? Would help us skip to the most interesting (subjective) bits.
    Thanks

    I done what you done back in the 80s. I used an 11m radio back then. A Uniden 26-30 (better known as a president Lincoln). It was 91 before l sat the ham exam. Now l am a little old to go rough camping. But l have a MH, a class A ham license, & a couple of hf radios. 73 from UK

    FLdigi works fine with the 891. If you're having problems your settings are probably wrong. To start with, in the menu settings, make sure your data mode is set to other and all shifts are set to 1500hz. Also, when operating digi, make sure width is turned on and set to 3000hz unless you are trying to block an adjacent signal.

    I love Croatia. We hope to retire there in maybe 10 years. Somewhere on the Dalmatian Coast near Split. I'm enjoying your videos too. I am interested in outdoor portable operations. 73.

    Nice work on the videos. Can I ask what model battery you use and what SSB power output you have? How long is the battery runtime?

    • @RadioAdventurer
      @RadioAdventurer  2 года назад +2

      Hi, I use 7.2Ah lead-acid battery.
      25-50W, sometimes 100W full power, it all depends on field conditions. For SOTA 5-10W max. When it was new I had a couple of hours. Much less now.
