Suffering from success. The first game had a peak of like 7k players on Steam, and they broke over 250k real damn quick on this one. No wonder they ran out of capacity.

A 5600% increase in popularity over the last game is insane.
If you were around back in mass effects 3 mhltiplayer days then this is just like that but better in all aspects. I kept seeing videos about it and pulled the trigger for 40 bucks played it and ended up buying the 20 bucks upgrade. Im hopeful for this game. Only issues was that when opening pods my player wpuld get stuck for like 30 seconds and as well as some match making issues where I could not find other players' games.

No. It is ridiculous and unacceptable. In a day and age where you can have custom configured servers rented and up and running in less than an hour, the devs inability or unwillingness to deploy servers to meet demand is unexcusable.
been playing solo cause noone can join and i cant see people that i can join.... i didnt get this game for the solo experience, ill wait til they fix it and i hope its soon at the moment
amazing game. but i did not pay 40 dollars to sit in a waiting list for several hours.

I can understand surprise, I can understand Server issues on day 1 due to that, what I can not understand is a game published and managed by SONY to not get their sh*t together in over a week to plonk down enough servers to satisfy customers needs. This has not been an issue of "oh this is the first weekend, nobody could have known" - this has been going on since the game launched and my sympathy has run out by now getting replaced by frustration.

There was no way they could have predicated something like this. I think the wait is worth it and a show of good faith with devs that are really trying their best in an industry that has us used to companies not caring at all

there are several ways to predict this. reception of their aggressive ad campaign and pre order count are two. this is simply incompetence at work.
Server issues are one thing but i couldnt even get the game to launch properly which is an entirely different issue and my pc is well above recommended specs

I just got my refund on steam. After 48 hours of attempting to play. This game clearly isn’t ready for launch. Hopefully they fix the issues by next weekend but I’m not holding my breath.
It's insane how positive gamers have been during this broken launch. I have seen our community absolutely shit and piss all over games that have launched with LESS issues than this one. Let's call a spade a spade. This game has been broken since launch. Server issues, disconnects, crashes, post mission rewards not registering, menus not being viewable and needing full game restarts in order to be seen, etc. On top of that the game came with a kernel level anti-cheat (basically malware) and no offline mode to soften the blow of server crashes.
Will the game be great in a few weeks time? Absolutely!! Today the game is completely
unplayable.
As a diehard HD1 fan I was never more happy with the success and love after the 60 hours I put in so far. Just sucks I haven’t been able to log in for almost 4 days now
Hell yes, fellow vet. I hope they add in the illimates and the mobile troop transports and mechs. I love how well the old mechanics translated into this beautiful game

Well, don't fret. It's just another one of those cases where the release just didn't expect that much fanfare, not unlike Space Station 13 and maybe the Neverwinter Nights duology vanilla releases.
Over time, it'll neatly stabilize. It's just the matter of whether or not this co-op duology will last better than poor Unreal Tournament 1999 and 2004.
in summary, I'll just wait to spend money on the game when it works. They shouldn't be able to continue sales of this game at $40 if this issue ongoing. Steam has a 2 hour window of play time. I sat for 30 minutes last night and didn't even get to play the game. Imagine sitting around for hour 45, playing 15 minutes, not sure if you liked it yet, and you can't return a broken game.
I keep getting "servers at max capacity" and when I DO finally get through I can't do any matchmaking, I search for 20 mins without any result, can't even link up with my friends when they too finally get through.
Actually a trash game.
I kinda agree about the gear thing. Armor is...currently bugged, but even if it wasn't the bonuses it provides are pretty small. The LMG is a *solid* gun that can be used into the endgame, and same for the first orbital strike. The weapons overall seem to have only minor differences, but the standard AR is decent enough at what it does. (you can even switch it to burst and use it like a psuedo DMR)
So we just sit here until they fix the issues?
I won't be surprised if they hit 1 Million players or Higher at this point. While i can't say im a fan of having to Unlock ALL OF MY GEAR (Guns, Grenades, Armor) Via the "battlepass", i can live with it. Other then that minor grib the game is FREAKING AWSOME! Its everyone i was hoping it would be.
But yeah once the Servers get resolved this game is gonna be AWSOME! In the meantime, we shall wait on the log in screen TO SPREAD DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM and LIBER-TEA across the Galaxy.
I feel like if they don’t upgrade the servers quickly they are going to start loosing money because that refund button is looking mighty enticing right now. Don’t see the point in paying to wait hours to log in. I got a life to worry about so this game is eh to me and I’m sure I’m not alone. Eventually people will get tired or fed up with the waiting and move on to bigger and better things people who are playing now will see the community slowly start to decline as people loose interest.
No matter how long I’ve had to wait in the queue, this game has been great and I’m addicted. I haven’t felt this way for a long time about a game. This game will go down in the books for sure.
The game would probably be at 500k players at once, if the server could hold them.
I bought the game three days ago and I've yet to even enter the tutorial. I can see why so many are refunding the game. None of us can even experience it.

FYI you skip to the front of the capacity queue if you join a friend already on their ship or in a mission through steam or psn
Edit Caveats:
1. Your friend must be on ship or in mission
2. You join from desktop with game closed through steam join player
3. It still may take a while
4. You will know it's working if you see a circle in top right corner on black screen, instead of the server at capacity splash screen
5. Circle in top right will stop spinning while waiting for your turn on server. It will start spinning again when it's your turn.
I've never waited more than 15 mins with this method done 7 times in last 24 hr

Hopefully it gets fixed soon. The friends I play with are all on the other side of the world in the US and by the time they are free is when the servers are at capacity.

They are trying. They’ve quadrupled their server capacity since launch, and it still hasn’t been enough. They are by no means ignoring the problem, but they can’t just snap their fingers and fix this.

Playing a almost 40mins then you suddenly got drop from the mission without a reason is so frustrating.
I usually just go to activities under helldivers 2 on ps5 and click on quick play and it will usually send me to my ship to select a mission

Lol so here's the deal... This game had no beta no alpha nothing... So it's not realy surprising that every single part of the game is broken AF right now... Servers to small no rewards after completing missions Game could crash at any time while on missions.... I also think this game has mabey 35 hours before people more on unfortunately none of use can get them hours in because of broken server. Also seen like 20 reviews for the game there all 20 mins longs and have a sentence about the problems with the game right now... People trying to push content for views are not representing the problems pushing sales even further causing more problems..
I was an enormous fan of the original helldivers. Its a fantastic couch co-op. im so glad that the sequel is as good as it is and that they are getting the praise they deserve. I know the devs will get the kinks ironed out soon enough, and its good to see how responsive the team has been.
a tip that could may work is gaming in your timezone wich could prevent you from being in a queqe
I wouldn’t say its rise is that rare tbh. Palworld hit the second biggest player count on steam ever, lethal company got huge numbers and before bg3 on release got into the top ten most played. This game is following a trend recently where a game just takes over the internet

I am a bit concerned though. We've seen this before with Outriders. The studio was very transparent about server issues, and people were accepting at first, but acceptance turned to vitriol literally overnight. Fingers crossed for the best.
So long as these sever issues get resolved ASAP I think they will be ok. But if it's like this next weekend... I don't think they will be as forgiving. We will have to see what they do during the work week

People get mad when they pay for a product they are then unable to use. The devs still selling copies of Helldivers 2 while knowing that these people will not be able to play it is scummy.

How did the servers fill up when there were 2.1m peak palworld players but they never had any issues?
I think multiplayer is hosted by you, when you play by yourself you’re not on a server for palworld

I think people are jumping on the hate train too soon. These guys have made a cracking game, and I loved the first 1 and I was really shocked that it didn't do as well as I thought. It was still successful for them, but there is a gap in the market for not just a co-op game but a united game where we all work towards a goal, name another game like that? The only thing that comes close for me is Mass effect 3 war assets. This game has all the charm of Starship troopers but does it better. 2 of my friends refunded the game and I couldn't convince them to not refund it. This is going to be one of the GOTY once all the teething problems are sorted out. I just hope the server issues are sorted out sooner than later before more people refund and miss out on one of the greatest coop games to come out since fortnite
