Does this give the fish more leverage to throw the hook? Having a free swinging hook takes away all the leverage from the fish making it more difficult for them to shake off. I wonder if swapping out the rear hook to one with a shorter shank might help with the issue of it hanging up on the prop?

Good question! I haven’t noticed that I lose more fish this way. Anecdotally, I’ve lost more fish on free swinging trebles but that might be because I’ve used them a lot more 😆 All of my musky ploppers have shrink tube and I can’t say I’ve lost fish because they’ve gained leverage but they also have a unique duck bill mouth. I do think what you are saying makes sense. I suppose this setup sort of turns the plopper into a single hook situation like buzzbait because there is no freedom there as well. As far as smaller hooks, that would prevent them from getting caught in the prop but you would be sacrificing hook coverage etc. There is certainly some pros and cons to both. I appreciate your question. Sorry for the long winded answer, I’m kinda thinking out loud here 😀

@@sotayakfishing Great stuff man. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the insight. If it’s working for you then that’s fantastic, and that’s what’s important. Also if it gives you confidence then that’s huge too. Tight lines dude!

Interesting tip. I've honestly not had a significant problem with the back treble hanging up on the prop. I'm wondering if the issue is more frequent when casting the two largest sized WP's...I don't throw the 190 or 130 sizes so that may be why hanging up hasn't been a bigger deal for me. Thanks for the vid...keep up the good work!

Thanks for watching and commenting! The 190-110 give me the most trouble...not sure I can nail down one specific reason. And I agree, in my experience, the smaller WP sizes seem to have less of an issue getting caught up.
