I was there in 2010. They made me a dog tag with my blood type and accident contact info on it. Riding alone on a motorcycle to Arizona made it seem like a good idea.
Get a meat tag tattoo on your ribcage area. No matter what happens your torso usually can be identified. Marines uses to get them back in the day.

I lived in Shelly for about two years and went there often. My husband was the one who wanted to go but we were newlyweds and went everywhere together.
Then I discovered that there was a small lady's area. It's kinda like a small boutique.
I tell all my family to stop when they come through! Glad you stopped by.

I did a video like this in Pomona Ca and Aloha Oregon. Its always fun to visit these places.
My wife would be in there with me for maybe five minutes and go back to the truck and be on her phone... When I get back with some items, She'd be rolling her eyes.. Hahahah.

Always loved going in that store as a kid growing up. So much cool stuff! Still go there once in a while.
If you are in Ogden Utah, check out Smith and Edwards. They have given up a lot of the Army surplus but still sell tents. Big place.
I may just move to Idaho and become addicted to this store.
Awesome store, been going there for years! When you go there, ask for Jim, he's a good 'ol boy and will make you laugh your ass off.
I live fairly close to Idaho Falls. I stopped at this store. I found a treasure. An Army coat that turned into a tent. Gather large sticks, take coat off. Unbutton the buttons inside coat and pull out. Ready in minutes for a sheltered nights sleep here in the Idaho Rockies.

YEAH! We go through Yellowstone almost every year on vacation. I have been there several times! Will go again, too! And we always stop in at Cabela's in Post Falls. And YES! I LUST after that half track every time I go in!

After years of driving past this place on numerous road trips from Alberta CA, I finally stopped last summer. What an awesome place. I will definitely be going back.
Did that place used to be an older bldg? Seems like It was to me, I went on a Household Goods Big Move from Denver to Yellowstone area and remember the biggest Surplus Store I had Been in. I think it was this one!! Used to run 48 States, Private and Gov't Military Personel. Went to Surplus Store all over lower 48 and even Alaska. This one one definitly reminds me of the biggest and best I ever got to stop and check out. Going to PacNorWest this summer! Will swing by with CASH!!!!

Oh, I also have those air snowboots. My son- in- law told me about 5hem. I live in the snowy cold Idaho weather and these boots keep your feet warmer than any boot I have ever tried. They are weird cuz they are rubber. I don't get the science behind it, all I know is they work. Thanks for the tour. It was fun. Now ai got to go shopping. Lol

I sometimes go in there to get MREs for hunting season. There's almost too much stuff..to the point where you look at a gazillion items and then walk out without buying hardly anything because you're overwhelmed with all of the things you COULD buy. lol

My family and I moved almost 4 years ago about 25 minutes south of this place. I’ve been in here a few times. It’s a pretty cool place!

@mixflip I’m originally from Portland, Oregon. I was medically retired from the Army. My wife is from Preston, Idaho, the same place where they made the movie Napoleon Dynamite. That place is about 1 1/2 hours south of where we live. We were kinda familiar with this area.
So to answer your question; we purchased 4 acres! I love my space out here! We live 2 1/2 hours from Yellowstone, an hour from Craters of the Moon, close to Island Park and other outdoor activities! You just can’t beat it!

I used to work in Poky, I F, and all over in that area burying fiber optics for Marvin Hatch (HatchCo, shout out) and one of my favorite things about this place was being able to wear my work gear and not get treated different because I was a girl covered in dirt with pockets full of tools. I LOVED buying little bottles of Tabasco, etc to change up my lunches and my husband had a thing for certain flavors of MRE's (former Nat Guard) Thanks for the trip down memory lane ☺ We're in North Dakota now...
North Dakota is on our list of states to visit next. Where do you recommend we camp in N. Dakota?
We love the Medora area...not sure about where to camp on the western side where we live but there are air bnb places by Medora and it's a vintage little old west town with shops, restaurants etc. There's a mini playground town perfect for kiddie pics and a show called Musical Medora that's famous. Horseback riding available. In the Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Really cool geological pic opportunities with boulders that are spherical, tons of buffalo (lol). And at dusk the Badlands scenic views right off the freeway is red/gold fire spires that look like John Wayne might be riding out any time. In Dickinson about 30 minutes east there's a dinosaur museum and a smaller water park w/lazy river and 2 waterslides. Try Sanford's Pub and Grub for lunch/dinner, nostalgic fun place w/great menu. I LOVE the catfish dinner....yummy! Hope you enjoy the trip 😊 Too bad you can't bring me some Pocatello Butterburr's when you come, really miss that place 😉
...cold weather boots...In Alaska we always called them bunny boots. When they're inflated they look like bugs bunny. But they can't be beat.
We used to call them Mickey Mouse boots

fyi don't get a double sleeping bag. it won't fit in a washing machine. just zip two singles together and you can wash each separately.

Most unfortunate about what happened to Poky it was a Great place back in the day, but I would rather be where I am now.

I’ve ordered several things from their website. My things were shipped fast from Idaho to Georgia. I’ve never had any bad experiences from them. I was their website had more things listed knowing now they are the largest Army surplus store.
Trust me it is big, I love like a mile away from them and I go there often.

It's been a few years since I went there while I was working in Idaho falls... Need to make a road trip to go there again with a shopping list! I got a fake grenade and some souvenir stuff when I went there last.

Robert Dunn Smith and Edwards isn’t really a surplus store anymore. They have a lot of stuff but not much surplus anymore.

Delk's Army-Navy Surplus Store in Asheville NC is 5xs larger! Like 3 acres , otherwise Russia is the largest “surplus” store in itself lol

Prices didn't seem over priced considering alot of the stuff is big and bulky and would cost alot to ship if you ordered on line.

I think they are open to offers. It was a sema build a few years ago for AEV. They are building an F250 show truck to replace the Ram.
