  • Hi guys! Today we will make a real soldering at home!
    We need:
    - wooden blank,
    - wires,
    - nichrome wire (0.17 mm),
    - fiberglass insulation for wires,
    - solid copper wire,
    - gypsum plaster,
    - and so on.
    This soldering iron is very compact, works from low voltage (12 V) and is quite powerful (12 W), which contributes to fast heating and comfortable, and safe operation with various radio and electrical components. Such a soldering iron can work from the batteries.

      Your way of making a soldering iron at home is amazing, incredibly smart and creative. I really admire and remember this method to make one myself like yours.

    Awesome, I'm in prison and am going to make. I just don't have the plaster. Will improvise though

    You can also double the nichrome wire. Which will cut the power requirement in half. Because the resistance is half. Essentially if you Tripple the wire you could use a 5v power source. Do note of using lithium rechargeable batteries that you put a fuse or short circuit protection online to prevent blowing your batteries up or power supply up. This is how we make the burners for vaping mods

      @@brendonantill8364 blowtorches are actually regularly used to solder, especially with materials which require high temperatures to solder properly, yet which can be crude/big and don't need much precission.
      solder irons are nice because they have a fine tip and also directly work on electricity. that said if you need a fine tip you can also indeed put the flame on something like a tiny screwdriver or nail or screw or such. be aware however that a electric soldering iron can work with pretty little power, as in 10W can already be enough and 35W certainly is more than enough in general(for things like electronics), this makes them very cheap to use for long, while a blowtorch or blowtorch powered one would require special fuel and also special fueling methods, and it might use a lot of fuel, making it costly.
      ofcource if you have a setup to make the gas or such which the blowtorch uses, such as a wood gasser or such then it is good option as well, and for big objects or if fuell is no concern or if electricity is hard to get.

    One question ;
    Can I use 12V-4A battery for that?

      Yes, you can, but i think buying an actual soldering iron is considerably cheaper

      Yes you can, you just need longer heating wire so it doesn't melt under the higher power.

    My question is.. How long does the nichrome wire last.. does it eventually burn up from being so thin, am I suppose to replace it before each use..

    • @XenonEditz12
      @XenonEditz12 6 месяцев назад +1

      why would it burn up?

    • @samuelfrancois4322
      @samuelfrancois4322 6 месяцев назад

      I'm thinking because of the thickness of the wire with the electrical current causing it to turn red in time it would burn out..
