I’ve head the campus is really big and I’m scared of having to walk long distances from class, dorm, etc. And what which Hall do you recommend for an incoming freshman?
hi! first off, congrats!! campus is basically set up in one long line of buildings but there is a concentration of buildings downtown. they divide the campus into two neighborhoods: lakeshore and southeast. southeast is a lot closer to the capital, heart of the city, and most buildings on campus. lakeshore is further away, but might be a better option for you if you’re outdoorsy, an athlete, or don’t mind a little of a walk. the southeast dorms tend to fill up really fast, but the closest ones to state street that i would recommend are ogg, witte, sellery, chadbourne, and smith (with smith being the farthest)! hope that helps

I guess a more direct question is whether your experience (direct or indirect) is that Sellery and witte are loud every night until 2-3 am. Got a daughter that wants to learn (engineering ) but is also looking to grow socially. Just don’t want craziness every night so she can’t get rest. Maybe Ogg would be a good option? Thanks!

there are people from out of state! i'm from illinois! it's definitely more difficult to get accepted if you are out of state though.
