Just got my Brilliant & love it! Chose it because I alternate between clothing & quilting. Fortunately the shop where I purchased mine has 2 in stock, so no waiting!
I wish this video showed how to set up the machine, all the steps necessary to go from sewing straight lines to quilting. Is there a video demonstrating that ? UPDATE: I found this video explaining the setting of the machine part. Different Babylock model but this part is the same. Watch the video, very helpful ! ruclips.net/video/yfu9htueIBM/видео.html
This video seems to be missing a lot of info. I figured out how to take the regular foot off and add the free motion foot. But how do we get the machine in free motion mode though to start sewing?
Thanks for your patience. Please refer to your instruction manual for specific information on how to drop your feed dogs which is a requirement of free motion sewing.
Roberta Westbrooks , I just ordered one online, but it’s backordered until September or October. 😩 You can still call the 800 number to order it. I couldn’t decide between the Brilliant and the Jubilant, but what the heck, went with the Brilliant!😄 I bought mine here: www.sewingmachinesplus.com/babylock-sewing-machines.php#/?Category0=Sewing+Machines&Category1=Brands&Category2=Baby+Lock+Sewing+Machines&search_return=all&Googleproducttype=Sewing+Machines
Help! I've watched this video so many times and I have the same machine. But my fabric won't move freely and apparently my machine doesn't have the free motion mode. How are you adjusting the height of your quilting foot??
Jenn Etheridge I have the same machine. I’m also trying to free motion quilt & my fabric is moving ok. I set it to stitch 3 & have lowered my feed dogs (don’t forget that) but in all my research since buying the machine there apparently is no mode for it nor can I find an extension table made for this machine. I’m not real happy with this & im still within my 60 day trial so am likely going to return it for a model more suitable for quilting. Have you figured it out yet?
Teresa Young they had the quilting table at the shop I bought mine at, so I know it’s available. I passed on it because I’d already exceeded my budget but I probably will go back to get it.
Are you lowering your feed dogs, removing the sewing foot and putting the open-toed foot on your needle part. If you have the manual, it should also explain how to set up your machine for free motion sewing. Good luck!
@@teresayoung4209 What do you mean by a mode for free motion quilting? Changing the foot and lowering the feed dogs is all you need to do. Adjusting the speed to medium or slow helps, too.
Hi Amber, thanks for reaching out to us. We have a dedicated playlist for the Brilliant that demonstrates different features and functions of the machine. We also recommend checking out the Getting to Know Class on SewED (sewedclasses.com/). And lastly, your machine comes with a Quick Reference Guide that outlines information to know when beginning to use the machine.
If you did not figure it out yet, watch this video. Diff BL machine but the setting part is the same. Good luck to you ! ruclips.net/video/yfu9htueIBM/видео.html

What stitch are you using?
Great video on basic free motion..
Do you recommend using the zig zag needle plate, or the straight stitch plate that is available?
Is it the same for Baby Lock Katherine....do you need to have a small hole needle plate?
Can I use a ruler template foot with this machine? If so where do I purchase one?

@@teresayoung4209 set it to stitch 4
Lower the feed dogs and quilt at medium speed. It takes some practice but it does quilt beautiful
Hit the needle down it seem to put the free motion foot down also I struggled with this also

This video doesn’t show us which settings to use or how to set the setting up.😮
Please provide more information on how to setup the machine not just using the foot

This "how to" would greatly be better by showing exactly which stitch you are using
This would be using a center needle straight stitch. It looks like the stitch #4 from the menu was selected. Thanks for your feedback!
