Kursk was a gambit to divert forces from this front to shutdown what was an embarrassment by the Russian military and an intelligence failure. The Russians appear to have not fallen for it. The Ukrainians also engaged in Kursk to show NATO that there was no "red line" and that the Russians would not use the nuclear option like they were threatening, so it was a ploy to have Western countries provide more aid. Ultimately, the only thing it seems to have accomplished was a morale booster and to demonstrate that Ukraine has not lost all its ability to put up offensives. Yet if the southern front here collapses that will all be for nought because the only option afterward would be for Ukraine to retreat to the other bank of the Dnieper river and wait till the US election is concluded to see where things go from then on.

Zelensky's genius move to divert his best troops to Kursk probably has a bigger role in the Pokrovsk line collapse than any strategic decisions the Russian high command make for the front.
The M1 Abrams is the WWII Churchill tank of today: when it first appeared it's feared so much it ends up being the primary target. From hunter to being the hunted😂
It was never feared by Russia though. That's more of an explanation for lay-people who don't know how easy it is to knock out any tank given the right conditions. Russia was more in the business of hyping it up in order to discredit it, as it will tarnish the reputation of western weapons manufacturers on the longer term

The reason western media talks only about the Kursk is failure of Ukraine's military to keep the stady lines in Donbass.
Kursk offensive makes no sense on all levels except on propaganda level.
Kursk is not industrial part of Russia, there is literally nothing important there that would slightly slow down the Russian advance in Donbass.

Its war, even Putin and his cabinet have mentioned this. The special military operation was a failure. Even during WW2 Germany only declared war once and that was against the US.
It is a war. Especially for russia. If russia need to declare mobilization this would be a desater for the economy. Russia is fighting againgst the collective west. As Gorbatschov was coming on power they needed to end the cold war without loosing the face otherwise they would be ruined.
