Thanks a lot for the super helpful video! Your excercises are great for improving balance and confidence. I was already able to skate backwards, so your video helped me to succeed within 5 minutes when I did a very short slide while skating backwards into it. 5 minutes later, I did longer slides, and 5 minutes after that, I recorded myself stopping at a predefined point. All of this worked with both sides/feet and 84A wheels. Next goal: jumping into it! 🤘
Was going to comment specifically on this. It is not a phrase that native English speakers use...but it should be! It captures a linguistic concept for which I cannot find another word. Closest one I can think of is 'salute'. Beautiful, and thanks for the tutorial! I've got powersliding down but had not thought of doing it backwards.
Great tutorial, Daniel, an excellent update on your previous powerslide video - thank you. Maybe too difficult for me at this stage, but I'm doing a 'stops' course in London in a couple of weeks' time, which includes the powerslide once the easier stops are mastered. I'll be practising hard between now and then, using your tips, and hoping my 85As aren't too 'grippy'!
Thank you Simon! :) I hope the course will help you to improve your braking skills! Well I don't hope it, I'm sure it will! It's also possible to do powerslide by use of 85A wheels, but it would be easier to pracitce with 88A wheels or harder. 🙂✌
Awesome video, really well made ! Thank you for that tutorial, I'm currently at the 3rd step. I'll try soon to master the 4th 💪. Carry on like this man !
Hi Daniel. Thanks to your tutorial, and with help from others, I can powerslide fairly well now. So big thanks to you! Have you done any tutorial videos on the magic slide or parallel slide?
Hey Simon, thank you very much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear that you have managed and already mastered the Power Slide. 💪😉👌 Unfortunately my tutorial about the magic slide / parallel slide isn't done yet and I'm afraid the requested tutorial will come in the first months of 2019 at the earliest. There is so much to do until then... 😧
Thank you for this tutorial. Very helpful. I'm having trouble with this and now I have a few techniques to practice to help me really learn it. One of my problems seems to be committing to the full on slide and the other is that I have very soft wheels and are very grabby. They are 82A. I can do the slide when surface is wet, so I think I need to switch to harder wheels like you mention 85A.
Thank you! 🙂🙏 This also works with soft wheels. But again you're right, the harder the wheels and the smoother the ground the easier it is to learn the Powerslide, as well as any other slide tricks. 🙂💪
@@skamidanen I am finally able to do to backwards power slide! And I kept my soft 82A wheels. The problem was I was not fully committing to fully extending my sliding back leg. Once I got over that using some of your techniques, I was able to do a slide. Now just more practice to smooth it out. Thanks for the tips and techniques.
This was actually really helpful so thankyou also I have tri skates with I think 125 wheels does this make it harder than having smaller wheels such as 110
Thank you for this great tutorial. How often do we need to rotate our wheels because of wheel wear? And can you please make a magic slide tutorial? Thank you so much!
Thank you very much! 🙂🙏 For the correct size and best fit compare your foot size in CM with the size table from your dealer. To go sure just ask your dealer. If it's a good dealer, the dealer should and will know which is the best skate and size for you.
Wow amazing video, thanks, i only recently started thinking about power sliding... The water idea is genius, though may hurt your bearing ( in the rain). Could you do a Miszou Grind tutorial, cause i started learning it, but can't get the handle of it. Thanks again, love your videos, keep them coming!
Thank you so much Nikita! :) Well rain and water isn't that good for bearings. But for practicing powerslides it's worth. However, after a session on wet grounds, you should dry your bearings as fast as you can and always store them on a dry and warm place. A "how to Mizou grind" tutorial is on my list already. But it needs time to finsih it, because of the rainy and dark weather in autumn... For this reason I think I'll publish a mizou tutorial in December or later.
I just got new wheels for my inline skate and find it very hard to do the powerslide. The wheels are powerslide’s matter juice F1 and its hardness is 86A. Is it because the wheels are new or these wheels are harder to do the slide? Thanks man!
Hi Daniel! I'm actually a new-ish skater working on learning different stopping techniques. I was wondering: is the powerslide sort-of a backward drag stop? Because that's what it kinda looks like to me.
Hm this is a good question. In our understanding the Power Slide itself means braking foot is in back. I'm not sure if you call it also Powers Slide when you put your braking foot in front. But you're totally right with saying it's both backwards. However we initiate the first one directly from going backwards anf the other one from going forwards.
Definitely yes! The harder the wheels (the higher the number of A), the easier to learn a slide, the less the wear out. But think about, with softer wheels it's easier to control a slide.
QUESTION: So, my leg that I slide on (the on that behind) in NOT my dominant leg, and the dominant leg is the one that I put the weight on (the one that in front)??
There you can also use the Powerslide by just jumping an 180° into it.But you can also use the "T-Stop", your "Heel-Brake, if you have one" or parallel powerslide and stop. Well, in narrow streets with cars I recommend not skating too fast by using the T-Stop (pls use wheels which are not softer than 88a, better harder like 90a) or Heel-Brake. If you feel good you may also use any Powerslide, but it's much more difficult.
Hey, no, but it's important to keep the skates or bearings on a dry place and do not skate while raining. But if you go skating in hot summer weather there's no problem skating through wet areas. Moreover you can use ceramic bearings, they will never rust.
Im to stupid to Do the powerslide forwards 🤦 I can Make it backwards and while turning outside to the back.... But Not by turning inside breaking direction.... 🤷

This is the best tutorial on this braking method that I have seen. Super job!
Hi Gregory, thank you very much! I really appreciate it and I feel just honoured and proud to hear this from you! Thank you!!! 😇🙏
Another GREAT tutorial that starts from the basics and shows a progression of techniques to culminate with the final move.
Thank you very much for that positive feedback! 🙂🙏

Thanks for your short feedback! 🙂🙏 And you're welcome! ✌🙂✌
thank you, now I can do the powerslide! It's amazing to stop at high speed!
This is just awesome!!! 💪🙂👌

Hey Pavel, the video about the Power Stop or Parallel Slides don't exist. I'm sorry! I didn't find the time for it, but I will, not later than 2019.

Geil, Jungs! Habs innerhalb von 20 Minuten gelernt mit euren Annäherungsübungen.. Danke euch ;-)
Hey, sehr cool, genau so muss das sein! 💪🙃🙏
Daniel thank you very much, I'm still practicing. It's so hard
Thanks, you're always welcome.
Keep rolling and practicing and soon you will get it! ;)
Thanks I will.

today i did my first Backwards Powerslides it was awesome
Hey that's pretty nice to hear! Keep on rolling ✌😉👌
Very good. Now I need to learn how to skate backwards
Thanks man! :)
How much wheel life do these braking techniques take away? I.e. how often do the wheels need to be replaced? Thanks.
Good tutorial, a lot of demo, thumbs up. Maybe you can make a video about power stop.
🙂🙏 Thank you! Maybe a tutorial about how to Power Stop will be published by the end of this year.

Again, thank you Martin! :) So, maybe for the next season? 😉
Hi Daniel! I'm actually a new-ish skater working on learning different stopping techniques. I was wondering: is the powerslide sort-of a backward drag stop? Because that's what it kinda looks like to me.
Hi Lynda, I would say it's a kind of a slide and a backward push stop. 🙂✌
My wheels feel very soft. Will this make a big difference? Also, I'm on a rockered set up. Does this make it any easier/harder?
Very good progressive excercise! but isn't both backwards? I thought forward power slide means braking foot is in front.
Hm this is a good question. In our understanding the Power Slide itself means braking foot is in back. I'm not sure if you call it also Powers Slide when you put your braking foot in front. Definitely yes! The harder the wheels (the higher the number of A), the easier to learn a slide, the less the wear out. But think about, with softer wheels it's easier to control a slide.
I can powerslide on wet ground and ice skates but not on dry! Any tips? Great tutorial by the way!
you may learned by now but incase not you just need another angle (with your breaking foot)
Nice :)
Danke dir 😀🙏
QUESTION:
So, my leg that I slide on (the on that behind) in NOT my dominant leg, and the dominant leg is the one that I put the weight on (the one that in front)??
If your way feels better for you, you can also do the power slide like you're already doing it. 🙂👌
Thank you!!😉
How do you deal with little "downhill" in narrow streets with cars?
There you can also use the Powerslide by just jumping an 180° into it.But you can also use the "T-Stop", your "Heel-Brake, if you have one" or parallel powerslide and stop.

In my opinion and experience, something between 86 and 88A. :-)
