Well when my cat starts scratching up the couch he will look me square in the eyes for a second or two then bolt off and make that weird trilling noise.
They are actually. The way they show shame is just very different than what we’re used to. If you scold a cat they’ll look away for example. Avoiding eye contact is a way of showing submission. We see it as them not caring, but they really do and it’s easy to spot when you know their body language.
