  • I was outside East London Mosque after taraweeh and there were rival gangs carrying knives. These were MUSLIMS! in the month of Ramadan.
    So we pitched up with brothers from Al Ansar and gave a reminder to the youngsters.

    It’s important to secure the foundation of your deen outside of social media and curated video content. Take it back to the basics; read Quran, read tafsir, read ahadith, read up on the stories of the Prophets’ lives, listen to a variety of trustworthy scholars and turn to fatwas for specific clarification. Then you can sprinkle in the daily reminders and stuff from social media because you are able to differentiate between what is true and what is just misinformation. If you don’t have the foundation built outside of social media, you will easily be misguided. This is sincere advice and a reminder to myself too. May Allah SWT make things easier for all of us, Allahumma Ameen

    The fact that I live in Canada, and know that some individuals in the Eastern London Mosque gave the Masjid a bad name is particularly worrying. It was pointed out by a brother, that the Masjid and its leadership do nothing but preach the true words of Islam, but that some of the youth have been corrupted like anywhere else. May Allah keep us Muslims that were born and raised in the West secure about our identity. I’m noticing a lot of people finding their way to Islam these days. It is becoming the fabric of Western societies if it hasn’t become it already. It’s challenging for both men and women.

    Very good beneficial reminder. Jazak Allah Khair. Ramadhan for many youths, sisters and brothers, is not about ibadah it's just a tradition and culture. Due to lack of ilm and not brought up in an Islamic educated home and schooling . After 8 rakah , most are out on the streets, bazar etc. These nights are precious and will never return. For many it's the last. Also, these traders and land lords , need to desist to make business on these nights. As they are also to blame partly for these fitna and misguidance

    Very important point about words used. I got threatened by some topless random man on the streets with two beer bottles in his hands while I was on my lunch break. Comes over being all nicey nice saying "What's good akhi? That's a nice watch" and bla bla. Next he asks me to take it off to have a look at it which made me uncomfortable which he sensed then his next words was "if you walk away from me now I will f**king spark you out wallahi". 🙄 Anyway I managed to escape the situation and no harm was done but it did make me angry. For this reason though I really can't stand it when these roadmans and grime artists who probably aren't even Muslim use Islamic words. What is the point of it all? My brown brothers (yes I am bringing skin colour into this as it seems to be a trend with south Asians) why do you guys like the grime and wannabe gangster culture so much? Years ago my mum and other family members would tell me to avoid such dirty rats on the streets so I don't get harmed and now you want to be like them?

    I remember few years back when ramadan wasn't such a big vibe among few"Muslim" youths.. They used to get together boys and girls in the park in that area and drink alcohol instead of going tereweeh. And the masjid brothers used to search out these groups and break them up. Islam was a joke back then.
    But now it has become popularised and so we have a mixture of people wanting to participate. And if it wasn't popular these same people may have been doing something worse.
    The masjid door needs to be open to everyone despite some people not taking their religion seriously. Masjid is a centre of the community and brings the community together.
    Also, even if girls don't have make up on men still look. I think these men dismiss "lowering the gaze" as something trivial. This really needs to be emphasised..

    • @FS-me8mj
      @FS-me8mj Год назад

      I strongly disagree. Rules are rules set up by the god himself and we must abide by it. The easing of rules for the society to find Islam palatable is a very very risky thing to do. We follow god’s rules, not society’s rules.

    • @stargazer6694
      @stargazer6694 Год назад

      @@FS-me8mj what are the rules set by God? Have you studied.
      If you deny access to Islam because your rules are set in stone, I believe it is you who will be sinful. It is sinful if you make Islam so harsh that you end up driving people away from it.
      There's a narration (a rough recap) of a man who used to drink regularly and get drunk. But he used to always feed the orphans. Some one very religious said 'by Allah you will go to hell because of your habit'
      The man passed away and the religious man saw him in the dream, he was in heaven and he spoke to. Him 'I am glad you were not in charge of my judgement'
      He ended up in heaven because of duah of the orphans that he showed so much mercy to.
      Becareful in your approach, I have never said to change Islam for society, I said to not deny people access to masjid, be patient, give reminders. Don't drive people away.
