This! This hit my soul so hard. Dealing with a man who only wanted to be served, it was the most draining experience. I just thank God for bringing me out.
I would modify it slightly and say, A healthy individual can serve while allowing others to serve him. There has to be balance. Too much serving is just a toxic as too much taking. Love is unconditional; Relationships are not. Relationships are a delicate dance of give and take on both sides.
I agree. The moment that you have to focus on his needs and how he feel and what he need and after forgiveness from. Multiple cheating because he was not been served then you become someone else that is always wondering if he is not serve he is going to cheat which he did again. But I was consider the toxic person by all the lies he said about me and my character to his friends and family to justify his infidelity. Never knew he was cheating again since his family and friends kept it secret as they watch him and I was taking care of household his health meds appointments and making sure he was stress free to continue to make money as a truck driver. Never had drama and isolated myself from my friends but he was living a double life on social media and text his ex affairs and sexting with childhood friends that are in their 50’s and married. This was not a companion and husband of 31yrs that I imagine living the rest of my life with😢. The side chick was 40yrs old and he was 56. Same circle of old friends from a town that I was blessed to get out of but he refuse to move forward and leave the past behavior behind. So she knew he was married for 31yrs but when you are a cheater females like that know how to target you so I thank god for Seen everything.

I was serving as much as he was taking but he wanted to be serve and if he didn’t he was condition to cheat and learn from his environment how easy it was and no one would say anything about it or call them out. They called it a way of living and culture in his town. It was disgusting. If you didn’t serve they will just find another female in that town to satisfy them and they will now they was married but it was the culture.

This what I am looking for in my next relationship. I wasted 31yrs with someone that never gave a dam about been a God fearing man and never actually lived in Gods core values. He cheated multiple times and never looked back twice as it been wrong. Continue to sexually engaged with friends and was married. Sextting and social media indicent behavior and neglected our marriage to focus on social media behavior and affair partners. Never ask to go to church or communicate with a pastor or counseling but was very much excited to get burnet numbers and text Pics encounter with affair partners. God sees everything and is good all the time.

But first: how can you fall in love with someone whose core beliefs are completely different from yours? What is it that you think you love about another person when you two are so different on a basic level? In this case it cannot be love at all, but only attraction 🤷♀️. Learn the difference between love and attraction first!

Always listen to your gut. Don't allow anyone to cross your boundaries and if they do, I hope you have the strength to walk away. Get to know yourself, spend time alone, heal, work on yourself and then everything else falls into place. We are always growing and learning.

I’ve met someone who needs work done on himself, inner work, shadow work. Needs to love himself and work in his traumas… he doesn’t see nor understand this. I maybe came into his life to show him this, for he has hurt me and disrespected me emotionally and I’ve called it quits because I simply cannot be in a place where my feelings are dismissed. I adore him but I’ve only been stressed and feel like I’m just counseling him. And it’s draining

Healing is similar to grief. You can't tell someone how long they should take to heal.
@smartkookie Define healing? No grief and healing are 2 different processes. There's griefing first THEN comes the healing process. Research it, and if you haven't experienced it, you might not understand. Be blessed.
I've often shared this message with women in my circle..when a man approaches you attempting to date you (& there is mutual attraction) the discovery phase starts upon him opening his mouth. As soon as his language does not align with your standards/core beliefs(assuming you have them bcuz you know your worth) dont proceed any further. The short term lust & excitement/good time being offered is not worth the wasted time & 💔ache you will experience when the 🔥 goes out.😢

I SO needed to hear this!!! Being a woman with 28 years of sobriety & unfortunately a few divorces.....I have tried to date social drinkers & even marry one & it doesn't work for me. I am healed from my past, I have worked on myself for all those years of sobriety. I just needed the reminder that my sobriety & positivity IS a lifestyle & a core belief & I NEED that in a partner! I'm currently going through a tragic breakup and dealing with severe heartbreak. It's been a week now and this entire interview is healing me. DeVon's experiences and advice, man he was calling me OUT!!! But definitely words I needed to hear. Loved every bit of this interview.
Can relate as well, been three weeks. And this time, I am going to work on me. I still believe in love and am ready to receive it in the way that I give it. Am going to give healthy love and receive it healthy.
Taking time to rebuildi my self-esteem and self-ide😮ntity, post divorce, has been one of the most profound and important chapters of my life. At first, it was dark and painful. Now, three years later, lots of counseling, meditation, writing, embracing sobriety, embracing a Higher Power and changing what I eat, my Self and world have entirely changed for the better. For me, being seen does not have to do with commenting on my looks or wardrobe but honoring my preferences if they persist after discussion. I wanted a medium size ice chest but my boyfriend insisted I needed a big one. I wanted real flowers, not silk, but he insisted on giving me silk. Even though I told him I wanted to wait until marriage to have sex, he did everything he could to manipulate me into it. I felt unheard and disrespect. I was quickly disappearing as a person. Being seen means being heard and understood. I don't want to be tied to someone who devalues, disrespects, dishonors, refuses me.

This is what I needed to here.... I'm about to finalize my divorce. I'm a woman of God and to find someone that's on my same level or having the same core values seems hard. I have found that men say they are living for God but that really not everyone that says there a "Christian" there not. My faith is my everything and doing God's will. It's like I don't like people treating me certain way, that reminds me of my childhood traumas and I wouldn't date guys who trigger those memories even unwillingly. We should feel safe in relationship and understand where everybody is coming from. We shouldn't have constant CPTSD flashbacks bc the other person refuses to acknowledge it.

If someone experienced severe CPTSD it won't completely vanish, it's part of our nervous system. So it's not "holding anybody's back" to not accepting the same behavior that traumatized me. Gosh

Just went through my journey of healing and knowing my self worth. God put me in isolation for 7 months till I understood myself and what I want and what I won’t except! To love me first and to be happy with self! No one can make you happy. You must get with like minded people.

These are things I’ve been learning in the last 8 months thru watching sermons. I have changed so much for the better. I have less now but I am so happy especially with myself. I love me, I love my own friendship. I’m happy just being me. I’m not desperate and it’s so nice to say I’m sure you are a great person but you are not for me. And then go out to eat or to a movie right by myself. I even go on vacation with me.
I do believe love is enough!!! Not because you say you love them. But if you truly love someone and they love you, you build and mold yourselves to each other and the future that you both want together.

I realized I was thirsty to keep up with BS from low vibrational Men even though I created healthy boundaries but it was hard to let go. I deeply want to connect with someone special so we can bond together however, I’ve been ghosted and gaslighted many times. This past week was my last straw because I chose my happiness over the fantasy of who they are not. Thank you so much for sharing your story I can relate 💯💯
Regarding the Jim Carry story, to me it sounds as if what the wife needed from him may have been disregarded. There is a difference in doing something you want to do and expecting praise and respect vs. Doing something that they both want and her appreciating it, there is a difference.
Yes! I was lost at this bit and wanted more understanding as I have experienced this. He came home from work and I asked him if he could put the trash out and he went off, "why do I need to, I just got in, noticing in the trash is mine, why couldn't you do it before I got here" bearing in mind there is rubbish from food I cooked that he would be eating, babies nappies etc.. to being told "what have you done all day".. cleaning, cooking, looking after the kids, food shopping on a day that I didn't have work. 😕
The Narc I dated said 'Jesus Christ is my Savior' and had bibles and religious books around the house and would forward emails to me from Pastor Rick.... Yet he was emotionally abusive, contemptuous, angry, would rage, was not compassionate, thought his way was the only way....etc...etc... though Jesus Christ was his Savior.
Jesus says in Matthew 15:8 “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me”

Even though I liked and agreed the beginning to never compromise in your core beliefs, I don't understand why he still felt insecure with himself when he had many achievements in several areas of his life( like sports etc.). I gained my self-confidence mainly thanks to my achievements in childhood. When I entered ballet school, my former class teacher wrote "high self-esteem" in my resume😀. Of course I have to mention that my parents were very supportive and helped me everyway they could on my way.
There are many ways we build self esteem. Achievements can definitely help,but it takes way deeper than that to develop esteem

I haven’t dated in a few years and I have come to the conclusion that, I don’t want to date a man unless he has a relationship with God and date with an intention of something serious AND be comfortable with platonically dating me without dating others. Healthy boundaries. He should feel self love and participate in self care, mind, body and soul. The world is so very worldly but really getting to know each other and not allowing social media or his associations to negatively influence our relationship. The right man will be willing to make the investment. I’m open to receiving who is right for me, when the time is right.

Another thought…. Just my opinion, too many people these days are more interested in SEX and feeling if that works all the other things will too. Nooooooo any animal can have sex. Get the right person first, and that person is YOURSELF first. After that, the right person will happen and THEN the sex will be worthy of having and loving.
