5 years after and still this lantern it’s one of the best I’ve saw..👏👏👏.. Happy Holidays
I make these every year. Been doing them for about 12 years.
Didn’t know there was anyone else that did them. This is great to know someone else does too.
No leave the bow. It ties it all together with the pop of red. Beautiful! Thanks for the idea
That lantern you just made is the most beautiful Xmas gift you could ever give to anyone you really loved & wanted to show your presence without being there in person.
I've seen the dollar lanterns a'lot but never with the "roof" which is what i wanted. this looks very high end I cant wait to try it.
Very nice! First time I saw someone take apart frame for roof...looks great...thanks for sharing!
Wow who knew! I usually don't even decorate for Christmas but I might make an exception this year! I really like making these kind of projects! I could make them for friends and family! See ya I'm heading to dollar tree!
I so far made 8 for Christmas Presents as one friend saw mine and as me where she could buy one, I told her I would look it up on my recipes when I had time as in 2 days we were getting together to exchange gifts so the girls were thrilled when they saw their Lanterns and they wanted more made, so I will be busy in the next few days, A BIG THANK YOU FOR THE SHOWING THESE LANTERNS,
Beautiful, i really loved this tutorial and all your ideas. Good work
You could turn the cardboard inside out so there's less black to deal with or spray paint the cardboard white or... just use something white to begin with. Beautiful project & definitely making this !! Totally gift-worthy :)
Turned out so pretty. So glad you added a top.
What a talent! It's very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I bought a lantern from a thrift store.......filled it up with items I've already had in my Christmas decoration boxes! Easypeesy!!
Brilliant! Idea! Keep the lantern and swap out the decorated trays for each season! GORGEOUS final product!
Very nice! Not looking at all like a dollar store DIY! Thank you for sharing.
This came out so beautiful and you took you time to explain it very well and very calmly... bless you and thank you for sharing it to all...
Your wedding rings caught my eye! :D Thank you for sharing! Love it!
I'm so happy I stumbled across this video. I actually clicked on it by accident but subscribed as soon as I saw how methodical she was. I definitely trying this out. Thank you
Very cool! It turned out nice & festive. Thanks for sharing it's!
You are amazing! And, you never cease to amaze me! Two thumbs up!!!
I love the scene you put inside your lantern! Very nice!!!!!!!
Beautiful decor. You put all your effort in this project. Very festive. Love it.
7:34 Just FYI- hot glue will hold initially but for a more permanent hold I’ve found that it helps to alternate it with E-6000. I only mention this because I plan on using my lantern more than one year and may mail some to family as gifts.
I used the small plastic tubes, but the Dollar stores in our area only have the large sizes, so I looked around the Dollar tree store and found plastic silver napkin holders that work real well and look real nice as I made 10 so far for gifts, and made another today since its snowing I made one for Valentine's day with hearts and a white turtle dove and red & white flowers very pleased with it . you might want to look @ the napkin rings in the party section where the plastic glasses and dishes are.
I just found this! I have looked at other Lantern how-to's but I like how you hot glue the edges; the other ones I view used duct tape and it just looked tacky as it could be seen. Thank you for explaining it so well!
Every room in my home has a Christmas item in it every day of the year, but no one ever notices. This is great. I hand make my tree every year and was looking for a lantern idea for this years tree which includes magnolia flowers (granda fFlora and little gen), a wicker goose and super cool black diamond studded branches.I needed a lantern on my tree platform and this is perfect. Thanks for the video.
For the little prongs or brackets on the back of the frames, I use an old butter knife to lift them up. Saves your fingernails.
Frances Walker the ones on these frames bend pretty easily
Jessaleigh Oh okay, that's good. :)
You did a great job.The finished project is lovely.I think I will make one with an angel theme. Thanks so much for a beautiful idea.
This was great and I agree with the others, wire cutters are a must! I think I may have put a small hole in the bottom to run the lights thru and secured the switch to the back for easy reach. I can see this with the frames painted before adding the glass back, very versatile. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea. What a great idea. Great video. Such exceptional directions. I laughed when you got out the bread knife. Lol. But it really worked!
Amazing. How lovely!
Wow ! Very nice. I am definitely going to make a trip to the dollar store and make at least three of those lanterns in different sizes to put them together on my entrance table! Thank you for sharing.
What a great and inexpensive idea. Brilliant!
To more easily access the lights you could put a hole through the tray and feed LED lights up through it, then glue the battery pack to the bottom. Also use white cardboard to make the stands for the tree and sleigh so that they don't show through the snow (or cover in white paper). But I agree with how clever this was, particularly the pointed roof. I didn't expect that and it was awesome.
You really did a very nice job on that. It looks so much nicer than other ones.
I love lanterns the lantern University is very beautiful I appreciate the directions you gave us they were precise I'm going to try and make one when I get some picture frames thank you for your idea!

Took your lantern idea and made some candles from toilet paper rolls w/hot glue drippings painted white and glittered. added some greenery and battery tealights and a bow...came out great..thanks for the inspiration.
would love to see your please post a photo.
Great idea, the possibilities are endless!
i love this lantern, i shall attempt. the valentine one is gorge as well
8:35 Thanks for sharing!
I would like to suggest using E-6000 glue and alternating it with the hot glue. The first glue will make it stronger while the hot glue holds it in place. (Got this idea from another video).
It will last a lot longer with both glues holding it
Barbara Ness it’s really nice. Inspired me to do this with my grand children
Beautiful lantern and easy to follow directions!
I like the idea of the square tray as the tray. I hope I can find these.
I cannot explain how much I love this. Lady you are extremely talented ❤️❤️❤️

Jennifer Castle thanks Jennifer! Yeah I'm liking the bow now that I'm looking at it for a while 😊

Looks Great! The bow on top isn't too much at all. I would actually make a big semi-floppy bow that has long tails that would hang all the way down the outside.

Thank you for properly gluing the frames together so it makes a square! Yours is the only tutorial I've seen that you alternated them!
That is lovely and looks very strong too. Keep up the good work. Will watch for more of your work. Well done. X ☺️
You are seriously a genius. The lanterns are very expensive, when you buy them already made. Who would have thought of using picture frames, great job! Thank you so much for the tutorial, I am going to try my hand at these for sure.

Loved it and leave the bow on it,, makes it stand out even more,,, great job,, I have the lantern which I bought at goodwill and I will copy your idea !!!!
I really really loved this video. I sure was very inspired. I enjoyed the intro. Also this is gorgeous
I love using the glass with the picture frames to make this lantern. I'm definitely going to try making one like this or a smaller size like 5x7 if possible. One modification I will try is to use the frame backing as a roof. I'll have to spray paint the underside of the backing to black, use the manufactured black side facing up for the roof & glue it in. I'm also hoping to figure something out for the bottom as Dollar Tree no longer carries the tray you used. Great idea! 👍💡
Very pretty I am going to try this, TFS
You make this the best of all who have tried on here
Great Tutorial! Wonderful project to use the lantern year round. Thank you for sharing.
