@@Rob-uu1ic yes you are correct, Skaife was in for a shot at second in the championship coming into this last round, not the championship. I love Ingall, and loved watching him race, he needed to take this one on the chin though and Skaife needed to just stop carrying on about it for so long. The '90's and the early to mid 2000's was just brilliant racing and the best characters imo. Sure the '70's and '80's were awesome but i feel it's really tanked these days and for the last ten or 15 years.
@@Hetstaineyeah what ever side you were on in this it was excellent for us fans entertaining and seeing 2 giants of the game locking horns. What a lot of people don’t remember Skaife had it in for Russell from the beginning of 2003 due to Russell jumping from Holden to Ford so Skaife was always looking for a fight. Skaife could give it but was a sook when dealt to him, I remember him being pushed off by Alan Jones at Symmons in the mid 90s and he carried on forever over that too.
Ahh The red lion vs the blue falcon... such a era that should of lasted for ever... in the days when the driver was either HOLDEN or FORD... I bleed red like any real man and should LS the world, but those staunch blue boys and their barras were the only contender... great race, good times and let's leave it at that, in fact it was the greatest era of v8 supercar...
I bleed Blue, but I was devastated when Holden announced their closure. Falcon v Commodore is a way more fun rivalry than Mustang v Camaro. Those cars were built here, they're part of our culture. Now it's all just imported.
I don't agree with that. He does rave on a bit in the heat of the moment whenever there is drama when commentating. Dunno about whinge but when there's a discrepancy on how a certain rules are inforced and if a rule is too harsh in his view, he'll certainly make his feelings known about it. There was a minor incident at Bathurst in 2022 where a recovery vehicle nearly made contact with one of the supercars heading up mountain straight as it was coming out of the pit exit. It came up on one of the replays and skaifey would've definitely had his heart in his mouth when viewing the replay and made his feelings known about that incident in which he articulated them well. Basically saying that the recovery vehicle should not have been where it was at that stage.
Ingall was about a millions times better than Lowndes..... good to actually have a bit of difference in opinion on the panel.... now it’s just Yes Yes Yes on there........ everyone agreeing with each other.....
I don't know why he was fighting for the championship because Marcos Ambrose only had to finish half race distance to be classified and Marcos had already done that.
Skaife deliberately didn't give him any room, there was absolutely no need for him to do that. According to Ingall Skaife also punted him in the rear braking into T9, which was was created the space for him to pass on the inside in the first place! Skaife started it and Ingall finished it! And then Skaife goes into Ingall's garage and starts physically shoving his crew? Charming!
Can't say I remember this race too well so I can only judge what was on the video. But I really liked Skaife as a younger lad until it became more and more apparent that Skaife can certainly dish it out but he doesn't like copping anything back.
That incident was a pivotal moment for both skaifey and Russell Ingall's careers. I certainly believe that both drivers were in the wrong there. It could've been so much worse. Both drivers had a role in what happened. Both drivers made up post retirement.
Skaife might not be everyone’s cup of tea but there’s no doubt about his driving abilities. The bloke has risen to the top of the sport from the bottom, on more than one occasion. So for all the beer drinking, couch surfing wannabes, show the guy the respect he deserves.
And as soon as Lowndes retired they sacked russ and replaced him with Lowndes, Still think the fine ingall got was way ridiculous and way over the top.
Russell Ingall 'The Enforcer' pissing off Mark Skaife!! 50/50 both should allowed racing room, but when it,s getting to the end of a race and No-one wants to loose 2nd or 3rd spot.
It's funny how there is such difference in opinions. I always thought skafe was arrogant and dirty. He was my least favourite person in motor sport. When this incident happened I thought it was fantastic, someone finally told skafe where to go shove it.
Is it just me or does Russell have a smugness about ruining the guys championship? Seems to me like hes proud of it to this day. I wouldn't be smiling about it, not even years later, i'd be ASHAMED of doing that til the day I died.
Tbf though he literally said in the video "I thought I'd just give him a bit of a nudge, I didn't expect it to be that bad" (owtte) which 100% definitively shows intent
Ingall had no business being out on the track, he caused multiple crashes when he was driving and got away with it. He wouldn't be smiling so much if there was a fatality due to his recklessness
Ahhh man. Skaife 'well I walked out to give him a character reference'. Holy moly what a way to put it. Character reference. Very funny Skaifey.
Ingalls response at the time : "I wanted to give him a chance to lob his helmet at me"
I wish Skaife and Ingall were still driving :(
They occasionally do some GT stuff. They partnered with BMW alongside Tony Longhurst this year in the 12hr
There Becoming old

Skaife not that other A hole

This incident along with the Murphy Ambrose will always get fans going. Wish there was still this sort of thing today
How good would it be to put both these drivers back in those same cars and do a few laps around Bathurst this year....
This was massive when it happened, last race of the year, championship still possible for Skaife plus 2nd and 3rd still up for grabs. Good times.
Lol Ambrose had it wrapped up Skaife wasn’t going to win it despite what his inflated ego says.

@@HetstaineI haven’t watched it since 2011. Drivers are all boring PC robots and the driving is lame as well.
Skaife has done a few dirty deeds over the years, this time he tried to intimidate the wrong driver.

Skaife spent some of his millions on a new set of chompers and they look reeaaaal natural...lol
2:31 the TV smile
He'd paid for them, and thought that it was wasteful to cut them down to a reasonable size.

Mark Skaife was certainly a driver I admired and enjoyed watching. I don't think he's as bad as many people think.

bahahaha
How you been old boy, Walks?

Does Kelly care that he ruined Lowndes' championship?

its just a bad bit of driving from russell ingall nothing to loose a friendship over
Russell can’t be all bad, after all he tried to run over SKAFFY.
Both to blame. Skaife was squeezing him. Ingall pushed back. Probably to much but there was 3/4 of track for Skaife to move over to.
Best thing Russell ever did 😂😂😂
These two legends should still be driving. The sport is just about dead these days.
When it came to Ingall, Lowndes and Murphy the stewards were always quick to penalize them and the likes of Skaife, Whincup and co got off light.
Lowndes got off light on a lot of things too, especially in the VT days.
Some drive cleaner than others. It is a reflection of reality, unlike what is going on inside your head.
Skaife was putting him to the dirt... Ingal held his line, wasn't even at the B pillar

Skaife did the same, he admitted to punting people off when they were racing under lights (I can't remember where off hand) and "it was great".
Onya Russell, Skaife is a crybaby 🤣🤣
