Rodan (1957) - US-exclusive SFX footage

The King Bros/DCA release of Rodan was edited from the Japanese work print and features a number of SFX shots not seen in the final Japanese theatrical cut. Sourced from the MonstersHD broadcast

It was only made more tragic in the lamentable way they died together.

Why didn't Classic Media use the print from Monsters HD for their 2008 DVD re-release of "Rodan" to replace the Vestron source they'd previously released? It's in far better shape.

That's a good question. Licensing is probably the reason but expediency/laziness is just as likely. It's weird because they used the MHD print for the 'vs the Thing' cut in their Godzilla collection but couldn't be bothered to do the same for their re-release of Rodan on the Gargantuas double feature. Ugh, what could have been...
