    Lift turned out great!
    For anyone doing one of these in a home garage consult with home builder and concrete contractor. Areas where basements are prevalent contractors like to just dig out the whole foundation and refill dirt in garage area (floating slab tied in with rebar.). If you dream of a flush mount scissor check first what’s under your garage floor. Commercial building like Mike worked with - solid undisturbed base.

    The Egyptian way of moving with rollers works for sure. I am too impatient for that so I would have bought a piece of steel or wood that would give me enough reach and be strong enough to support the lift, and clamp it to one fork for the extra reach I needed. “More than one way to skin a cat” is a saying for a reason and his way definitely worked. Not hating on him one single bit.

    For future reference and worth having around the shop when a fork lift is available. A fork extension is very easy to make and would of made this job very simple. A piece of channel or rectangular tubing and two c clamps would of sufficed for this task. We use one that is adjustable and has a lifting hook on it for tasks a crane can’t reach

    So too bad Mike doesn’t have some square tubing because I just slide it on the end of our forklift at work and that helps me out to do things like that, you guys might want to pass that on to him! That gives you instance forklift extentions

    Nice install Mike, I'm wondering if this garage was exposed to water, how would that change this install, would the lift be raised above the new concrete, what size pipes to go towards drain and how to connnected it. Thanks,

    • @MikeFigueira
      @MikeFigueira 2 года назад

      I would have installed a small sump in the foundation and plumbed a drain line to the exterior of the garage.

  • @andrewhurstcars

    Surely it would have been easier to just remove more Swiss tracks, drive alongside the concrete holes with the forklift and just lower down the lifts with the forks from each side?

  • @jasnapon
    @jasnapon 2 года назад +3

    Next time just clamp some extenions on the forks

    • @timkinley1779
      @timkinley1779 2 года назад +1

      Or just buy some fork extensions (extenders). But if this is the only time you would use them, I'd say the use-what-we-got approach worked well.

    • @bullwhipjesus

      @@richardmesser1091 you can keep your gas car if you want but most people by 2025 will figure out that electric is far superior with basically no maintenance, 20 moving drivetrain parts versus over 2,000 with ice cars. And no more stopping off at a gas station every few days! Just plug in your car at home just like your cell phone and done

      Electric or ICE. There’s always detail work, and a lift like this gets these cars at a ergonomic height. Electric (Tesla). Gonna need a glycol cooling solution change eventually. 😂
