11 Foot Tall Audrey II Puppet
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 апр 2018
- Designed and Built by Brandon Hardy, this video shows the process from design to execution of the "Pod 4" Audrey II for a production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Sweeny Todd's chair and Audrey two allow for some of the best engineering and creativity in theater....and both deal with eating people...wild
Indeed indeed
Don’t forget Sandy the Sandworm.
@@stunkybunks2205 idk what that is
@@theshockinglyeloquentdog9945Its from Beetlejuice
@@Lameashellcosplay Beetljuice isn't performed by small town theaters yet...and also didn't originate on stage
I love how there is a whole musical about a giant, man eating plant and we just never mention how strange that is
A Bag o’ Chips there’s a film about it too-
Also the plant seems to indetify as a mama but us a very male voice-
There just- a lot of questionable things
Thought I guess the plant thing make sense since plants are both genders
There is another movie from 1960 before the musical
Jessica - Pick & Mix
I guess Audrey II is a hermaphrodite.
What is even more strange is how audrey is happy to be eaten by the plant.
I mean, there’s also a musical and movie about a transvestite alien who takes advantage of and pretty much rapes a young couple while also finding the secret of life but it’s a cult classic and everyone loves it and no one questions it.
Knowing that this will probably be rotting away in some warehouse, not 10 years from now breaks my heart
I wouldn’t be to sure about that man, I know this is for a live production but a few years ago I went to the Comic Con in my neighboring state and they had one of the original puppets from movie
A lot of people would A. Want to buy this after they are done with it. B. Theater museums would love this type of prop.
Or its thrown away in strike lol
Let's go kidnap a giant man eating plant, they can't stop all of us!
They out these kind of puppets up for rent most of the time, so maybe it might appear in a community production near you! That happened with a puppet I liked
This is easily one of the best plants I’ve seen for the show!
I didn’t know you liked this movie btw ima big fan I can’t believe no one has replied
Hi dangerville lol
I thought this was the rumor weed from Veggie Tales...
WAIT
WHAT IF THE RUMOR WEED WAS JUST LSOH FOR KIDS
What if the original rumor weed *WAS* the Audrey II?
Which one is worse? One eats you but then it’s all over... the other will ruin your reputation to the point that some people would actually like it if you died.
Have you heard the one about Alfred?
You just brought back memories I didn't know I had
I did prop crew for this play in highschool, and let me tell you, our 'Audrey 4' was a beautiful, vibrant, big lipped beauty. Everytime we had to shove the puppeteer in there I admired that thing. I mean - it was major levels of gorgeous
In ours audrey 2 was a person in a costume rising out of the pot
@@doriangray86 That's fair, probably both hilarious and terrifying for different reasons.
Yes and for budget reasons haha
I clean the backstage of theaters for a living and god I’d love for this show to come so I can get a close up of that puppet
Clever use of four-bar linkages. Keeps the head off the ground, and saves the trouble of a jaw hinge
Ours at school is 10 foot tall when the operator stands up and the mouth is easier to move because it is connected by wiring that the operator pulls
Video?
Seymour Krelborn - I don’t have any that I can post to RUclips. I would be in big trouble, but you can snapchat me and I can see what videos I have. @calebkelahan

If I were rich I would buy this
I would put it in my front yard.
I want it to be my bed
i would put it in my backyard to scare the crap out my neighbors that might see it
It's still so hard to believe that the plant was only a puppet, and not edited at all. Cudos to the puppeteers.
im not sure..
Holy crap, 11 ft tall?! 5'8" me would still be tiny compared to that! Kinda scary to think about that!
Bruh I'm 4'10 not even how u think I feel lol😭
In my school play I got the honor of puppeteering the right side of the vines. It was larger than the Broadway version. We got to climb into it before we deconstructed it. It was awesome!
I worked with a company that did this show in the past, what they did for Audrey 2 was have a giant bud that opened up and an actress dressed like poison ivy would be inside and sang all the songs.
Cool work. Especially how the design still allows it to eat the "Players" while still moving up and down.
The last production I saw of this, the set designers decided to break tradition and not do the traditional "flytrap". Instead, Audrey II was more of a bulb-like plant with a large leaf-like blade over the top of its head. The biggest difference for that one was that they gave the puppets eyes, so Audrey II could actually look around and be a bit more expressive in that way. (For "Pod 4", they did another interesting trick and got four different grade schoolers into full-body "tendril" costumes that connected to the main plant, allowing Audrey II to thrash around realistically.)
Didn't the movie have multiple puppets (one for the talking and one for eating people)?
Did that make a small puppet and make it look big?
@@tanimation7289 For the movie? No that was all actual size. The only time they sort of trick the viewer with sizes is that shot after "Grow for me" where you see Audrey 2 actually start to get bigger in their can.
@@rosenrot234 I'm bringing this up to know if any stage play used these same methods?
@@tanimation7289 Well with the film they managed to get away with it because they recorded the singing and mouth movements very slowly and then sped it up. Which is why Seymour might move a little odd during Audrey's singing. He's moving extra slow. You can't really do that with live productions
rosenrot234 I see. How did they make the vines move was it stop motion?
we just built one for Little Shop here and it was so freaking cool!! our set designer did such a great job with detail!!!
I’m really excited as I’m in a upcoming production of little shop of horrors as one of the Audrey 2 puppeteers. So I’m hoping for the production I’m in to have a awesome puppet like this
damn I love the bassline on that track..
Seriously. Somebody needs to sample that. The vocal harmonies too. 😍
That's amazing. So well done and realistic
I saw the musical for this live back in the early 2010’s. Best time of my life
Now this is by far the biggest puppet I've ever seen since seeing the Jabba the Hutt puppet!
...That is the most impressive thing I've ever seen apart from the puppet used for the film. Frank Oz would be proud!
I saw a stage production of Little Shop of Horrors. Always wondered how Giant Audrey worked, because the prop looked like a giant sock puppet.
Every production uses different puppets, so each puppet is puppeteered differently
This plant is such an underrated singer.
That is soooooo smart! Having just a lever to move the head and mouth, and having just 1 person moving it instead of 3 or 4.
Really cool progression!
“Mrs. Andrews! I pooped in the pot again...I need someone to clean me up, it’s really bad this time!”
My school is doing this musical and I’m auditioning to play Audrey II, I have no idea how they’ll do the puppet since I’m not in theater tech but I do hope I get the part!
I adore this musical!
"I'm a mean green mother from outta space and I think that you've been HAD!"
I thought my hand puppet was impressive... WHAT THE FU-
Wow what a great giant Audrey 2!! Fantastic work!
dude I remember seeing this show and it was fantastic.
Very nicely put together video and very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this.
That is absolutely incredible!
THAT LOOKS SO COOL HOLY SHII--
Been considering getting into puppet making and stuff and i LOVE these kinds of videos, you truly can do anything if you know how to make a good puppet huh--
Thank you so much!! If you’re interested, I have a full half hour long video on my Patreon of how I made a set of flying Sanderson Sister puppets from Hocus Pocus - it’s a different kind of puppet making, but it’s a really in-depth tutorial with lots of tips and tricks!
I swear i saw a picture of this in the performing arts section of my high school.
The puppet automatically busts the balls of anyone in the room named Seymour.
Omg love this!!!
Thank you!! This puppet was definitely a labor of love, I desperately want to make more Audrey II’s!
Never in my life did I think I'd say I so desperately wanna get eaten by a giant plant in my high school's musical this year! 🙏
That is really cool.
Played the Customer in my school’s production and the nostalgia is too strong.
I was supposed to audition for it as my 1st production but corona 😿
"Excuse me, I couldn't help noticing that strange and unusual plant in the window! Where did you get it?"
@@mentallydisturbedscience8900 Eyyyyyyyyyy
*This is how Plantera gets ready for another fight after being defeated*
This. Is. Awesome!
I loved this when I watched this!
Don’t know what I was thinking they used to control it before - but now I know.
You know what I’ve always wondered but can’t find an answer for anywhere?
What happened to the Audrey 2 puppet after they finished filming the movie of Little Shop of Horrors?
Did it get destroyed, or is it just rotting away in a warehouse somewhere?
They should put it in a museum, I want to see that thing up close.
Pod 3 (Feed Me! puppet) is on Display at a Frank Oz museum, altough the fate of the others remains unknown.
Pod 2 (Grow for me) was sold on Etsy for 1.200 dollars a few years ago
meanwhile a different pod 2 is in the same museum as pod 3
Pod 4 (Suppertime) was most likely taken apart/scrapped
Pod 5 (Sominex,Bad,Mean green mother) rotted away in a warehouse most likely
The whereabouts of the 3 giant Audreys are unknown to this day
Has no one seen the movie that this musical is based off of? Literally a really good movie!!! It’s called Little shop of Horrors.
Vice versa, musical came first
Thank you I’ve been trying to figure out how the actual eating happened.
I hope hollywood doesn't try to get their hands on this like they did with Cats
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
Oh my god i *love* LSOH and this absolutely made my dayyyyyy
Got to see this production. It was about as close as you can realistically get to recreating the movie for a theatrical live performance. And people do go inside of this things mouth.
This was the scariest movie I watched as a child
you made Frank Oz happy.
so freaking cool
*I always forget I’m in this movie as a fuckin 11-foot plant 😂💀😭☠️*
How does the lip movement work? Can you give us a tour of the inside of the puppet / an operation instruction?
Woa0-0 that's alot of effort!
This is amazing!! Can we see more details? And the other sizes?
Fantastic work
Thats amazing!!!
We made one of these at out school
SO COOL
POST MORE OF THW OTHER PUPPETS PLZZ
This movie sticks with me so bad and I have no idea why
They would have used CGI for Audrey 2 If this movie was made today.
So this is where that time traveling nutsack from rick and morty came from
My music drama teacher said we couldn’t do this as a play because of the themes.
The main theme is how a nice person becomes corrupt. You watch Seymour slide from harmless, kind, gentle man, to indifference to (an admittedly bad) person's plight, to straight-up murder to protect and enrich himself. In the end, he loses everything. All the other themes in the show are incidental. The physical abuse and drugs aren't great, but to pretend that high school kids haven't seen that in their own lives or those of their friends, is naive.
Nice build!
When my mom teched for this show, the puppeteer for Audrey 2 let kids go down the “slide” that was in the mouth, after the show.
1:16 Give use a kiss!
It also looks like Twoy is chewing cud!
Awesome Great Job 👍
I thought this was the plant from "That's so Mushka"
*big bird has left the chat*
*big is fast but audrey is faster*
The plant is a bit pink 💗 and is quite cold 🥶 but the water is still have a few water 💧 and a few of the water will not work with the water and water tank is required 😀 to use the water tank to the tank and the water will come
Hey! That’s the guy from rick and morty
Wow. Just wow.
The Audrey 2 pod 3 from my school literally on the floor. The upper part is complete but then the bottom part is flat and then seeing how other schools do make ours seem like trash
*Holy shit I remember watching this Play in Public School*
How do the roots move?
Little shop of horrors 👍🏻
Jim Henson would be proud
Amazing.
🎵come on ,is suppertime
That’s so Raven...
lovely!
Nice work! Sorry it attracted so many dim bulbs to the comments.
*_feed me Seymour_*
Im waiting for that 1.14 Relogic
Esta super genial esa planta
I swear that's the plant from Trapped
is there any chance i could get a list of materials for the pod 4? I am in charge of gathering materials for the it and i really need a little help it would be very helpful 😭🙏
Oh hey it’s Chomper
How many puppets where made for this play 2 or 3?
オードリーⅡ最大のポイントは何と言ってもプルプルリップ!
0:52 "Feed me Seymour"
This looks like that old point and. Click game from 2002. Dont remember the name. Only the plant smokes some dope and then shrivels up and dies
WOW!
