  • Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. I'm currently working on the baby plant puppet so stay tuned for that!
    (Expand video to see all written instructions)
    I wasn't planning on making an instructional video but I took enough pictures along the way that I was able to show my process. Feel free to ask questions in the comments and I will try and answer.
    *I use glue/water mixture to papier-mâché.
    **The glue/water mixture I don't measure. I just add them together until it looks very runny. I'm sure a recipe can be found online. Any white glue can be used.
    ***When I was finished I sprayed the pod with a clear polyurethane spray to give it that shine

      Sorry, just saw your message. (probably too late but maybe it will help someone else) At the beginning of video you can see how my hand fits inside the pod from the back.
      That's how you make the mouth open and close. I glued felt fabric in a tube-like shape to the back of the pod down to the flower pot. I used a real plastic flower pot and I cut a section out of the back so that the elbow rests inside the bottom of the pot and your arm sticks up through the tube of green felt. I hope I explained it well enough.

      What do you use for the top of the mouth and bottom of the mouth so it was closed?
      After cutting the paper mache in half, I have two open shells.

    • @BusyBsyMom
      @BusyBsyMom  Год назад +1

      I cut out cardboard and used a lot of hot glue to secure it in place. I used thin eva foam to line the inside parts of the mouth. I painted the white parts of the eva foam.

    Hi, how do you stick the clay details on to the shell, especially on the sides of it?(also, did you let it dry when you added paper towels + glue mix or did you do it before it dried?)

    • @BusyBsyMom
      @BusyBsyMom  Год назад +1

      The air clay stuck to it. I think I let it dry first then realized it would easily come off so I covered in paper towel mix.

  • @tripplertagger8124
    @tripplertagger8124 Год назад

    3.5 questions (sorry for the amount)
    1: Is it cut fully in half or until where it opens and closes?
    2: Are the hand holes cut out or is the ballon covered with two holes?
    3: is there something allow the mouth to open and close or is it just hanging by the paper mache end?
    3b: if so, how does it not snap in half?

    • @tatianahernandez3130
      @tatianahernandez3130 Год назад +3

      The pod is cut fully in half. Then I took a thick cardboard and bent it in half and shaped it to the inside of the mouth and hot glued it in. On the back there is a half circle shape hole on top pod and half circle shape hole on bottom half (basically a hole in the back to fit your hand through) with your hand inside (well, not your whole hand… your thumb and fingers really) you can open and close your hand making the mouth of the pod open & close (I hope that makes sense)

    Can you please explain to me how you did the holes for the hand tight enough to move the mouth?

    • @BusyBsyMom
      @BusyBsyMom  Год назад

      If you can’t move it up & down, hot glue a strap inside. (Strap should be glued to the roof of the mouth, not the inside top of head) That way your fingers slide inside the strap. I’ve made them out of cardboard before when making puppets. I have to go check Audrey to see what I did in this case but I’m not home right now

    • @tatianahernandez3130
      @tatianahernandez3130 6 месяцев назад

      I used a rivet on each side. The ones where you make a hole through each piece, push metal through & screw on the back. It allows you to open and close the mouth & keep the pieces together

    Quick question, I’m making this soon, how many layers of paper mache are recommended for the shell?

    • @tatianahernandez3130
      @tatianahernandez3130 Год назад

      I used newspaper strips on the balloon. Once it was completely dry, then I used blue shop towel strips. They’re kinda like a paper towel roll only thicker and you can find it in the auto section of a Walmart. Not sure if you know this already but always tear your strips, never cut with scissors. The strips won’t blend into each other right otherwise. Then I added the air clay veins & to keep those from falling off I put a final layer of thin napkin. Once it was all painted and done & sprayed it with a clear polyurethane spray. (If you buy a spray like this make sure it says something like “no yellowing” bcz some that are made for furniture have a yellowing tint.) Good luck!!!

      @tripplertagger8124 Год назад

      @@tatianahernandez3130 how many layers of newspaper did you use though?(like you add one layer of strips, let it dry, do you add more layers on top of the previous or just move to clay? Plus, air dry or model magic clay?) (Thx for responding BTW)

    What kind of size and type of ballon should be used and how thick should the foam be as well (I’m thinking 1mm)?

    • @BusyBsyMom
      @BusyBsyMom  Год назад +1

      It was a regular balloon and I blew it up to the size I wanted my pod to be (I made this one and a baby pod) This one is 12 1/2” long: from the back (where you insert your hand) along the top to the top lip. I bought the 2mm foam sheets from Hobby Lobby

    • @BusyBsyMom
      @BusyBsyMom  Год назад +1

      I’m not sure what 1mm looks like but I’m sure it will work fine. For the tongue I made 4 strips and hot glued the edges together to form a somewhat rectangular shape but it got smaller towards the tip. Then I covered the top with a leaf shape piece of foam. I used white and then painted it. Honestly I paused the movie & took a bunch of screenshots and tried my best to copy what I saw.
