as a singer/songwriter who plays a lot of different instruments and styles. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Cory Wong's willingness to collaborate in multiple genres and styles. We are in a time when we need to LISTEN to all kinds of music, musicians, and keep our mind OPEN. Great conversation! and sometimes, just sometimes a person has a day when they just need to hear some SMOOTH freakin' JAZZ.
Cory is my gateway to Jazz harmony. I’m a rock guy and frankly never liked heavy jazz (maybe just cool jazz or what you’d hear at Starbucks in the background), but Cory’s show and over all entertainment level made me dig it. I don’t even think of it as jazzy, it’s just music by a great band. Love how he doesn’t have to resort to dirty jokes, drug references and innuendo all the time like so many rock/jam stuff becomes. Thanks Cory and I’ve always held my pick like you. I tell my students it’s wrong and teach them the right way but I’ve never changed.
Wow that’s crazy I just watched his live in London performance and just with the height of his guitar and energy on stage I thought he must have started as a punk rocker.
His music reminds in some regards of Steely Dan. Clever, funky, jazzzy, great horns and keys but with pop and rock overtones which gives it real accessibility for none jazzers like me.
Fantastic interview! Been dyin to get into jazz..still not totally there yet but I’m checking out that pat metheny album now and holy cow..that shit is excellent!!!! So creative and textural..some good stuff to add to the list, Cory is the best, love his guitar playing
Im just a regular guy non musician...love Cory's stuff...fantastic flyers, vulfpeck, the wongnotes. Just love it. All of it.
I'm amazed that this doesn't have more views. This is one of the best interviews I've seen regarding music

I've never heard a Cory Wong tune I don't enjoy. This makes a lot of sense to me now. I've always enjoyed Jazz with punkish vibes with Funk rythms.

It's not jazzy, cause it's funk...
I’m real actively new to Cory Wong. But I love his sound and his energy.

I always thought the horizontal stripes was a reference to the horizontal lines of guitar strings.

Cory is good down to the millisecond!
Cory Wong--a smooth criminal of Jazz guitar as manifested by his "prison" garb.
