    Excellent video. I just got a Traeger grill about a week ago and have cooked st. Louis ribs, dino beef short ribs and pizza from Papa Murphy’s. All came out excellent. Ordered the grill grates and can’t wait to cook some nice big ribeyes on them.

    I have a set of grates for my Weber Genesis and debating using these on my broil King Regal pellet ,
    Do you find that they throw off the temperature probe for the control module at all?
    that was my only concern being as they radiate more heat than what the dome would be at.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  2 года назад +2

      Nah the pit runs the same. The grates get hotter but 100° won't affect the pit any. I do this way all the time! Thanks for watching!!!

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ do the grill grates heat up evenly or are there hot spots. Thanks for getting back with me on this

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  3 года назад +2

      They heat up pretty evenly especially if you let them preheat for 15 minutes or so. They distribute the heat through the grate but the flame broil is so small it can't touch all of the grates so the outside is cooler so that is why I close the flame broiler so the heat is more even. Get a inferred thermometer and you can test what works best for you!

    So I am trying to decide to get gas or pellet grill. I have never grilled as I grew up as a homeless child and never learned to do stuff I should know.
    I am 29 and bought my dream home ad can afford nice things now.
    I see many videos saying you cannot sear on pellet grills as 500 is not hot enough but clearly you did..
    Also, I watched some videos of people putting it in at 225° until steak was 110..
    Then pulling out in tin foil for min while they got their grill hot.. then do the searing last..
    Is this for smoke flavor?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  2 года назад +1

      That is called a reverse sear and that is a great way to get a THICK steak evenly cooked. I have a few videos showing that process. Yon can sear on a pellet grill but it REALLY helps to use either a set of grill grates or a cast iron pan to get that sear. Reverse sears are is favorite way to cook a steak on a pellet grill and probably the best results that I have gotten. Pellet grills add a lot more flavor because of the smoke. IMO the best thing is to have a charcoal grill and a pellet grill if you are new to the BBQ and grilling process. Thanks for watching!

    I prefer the flat side for a total crust. And… have you tried reverse sear, starting temp 250 till the steak has an internal temp of 120f… pull them off, rest will the Grill Grates heat up at 400 grill temp. Then sear each side 1 minute. YMMV.

    What is so special about putting grill grates on top of grill grates? Im confused

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  3 года назад +1

      GrillGrates are like heat sinks. They just retain a lot of heat and are very good if you want some fancy grill marks. The Steak Comps guys use these all the time. I have several sets and they add about 100° to your cooking temps and on a pellet grill that helps a lot! Thanks for watching!

      Hi Bill these are just one of their standard sizes that they offer. You can measure your grill and see what size will work best for you. I have various sizes but I think the 16" set will work in most grills. Here is a link that gives me a little credit for you purchasing a set. www.grillgrate.com/?aff=42 Thanks for watching and I use both sides of the grates and I am doing a video tomorrow on some Wagyu ribeyes using them so in a couple weeks that video will be posted also. Let me know if you got anymore questions!

    Folks, Sucklebusters 2 Pig Mafia Steak Seasoning ingredients are Salt,Black pepper,Garlic,Chile powder,Turbinado sugar,Onion,Sugar,Brown sugar,Cumin,Honey powder,Silica.
    Salt is the #1 ingredient. So, if you are putting on salt and then SB seasoning, just put a handful of salt in your mouth and get it over with. Most of the seasonings out there are salt first and everything else next. SB makes at least one seasoning without any salt. My beef with this, if you'll excuse the pun, is that salt is one of the cheapest seasonings in existence, and you will pay top dollar for a cheap product. I wish these companies would just sell the seasoning without any salt and let me add my own. But anyway, before you go salting your food first and then throw stuff like the SB on it, please look at the ingredients first.
