I visited the stones recently and was blown away by the energy, such a sacred and magical place. Thank you for sharing this video.

Beautiful - I'm usually very skeptical about anything new-agey, but the interpretation of what the different stones may represent is very compelling. That a long buried stone circle was found from where it was best to view the 'pregnant' figure was also amazing. A lovely place and we should be very grateful for the Curtis's work to interpret and protect this most evocative of landscapes.

Thank you so much for recording this beautiful event and sharing your video of it. I loved the music too, which added something ethereal to it, what a lovely voice and I loved the harp. The moon's progression across the sleeping beauty and the stones gave me a sense of wonder and how our ancestors watched this through their eyes. Superb! Blessed be! Xx 🙂

Moon is at highest as it passes tallest stone. Moon sets at right hand side of circle but clouds came in.

Thank you so much for this information. I was wondering if the Callanish Standing Stones was/is a Moon observatory. Your video confirms it.

A note on the moon's color:
The reason for the orange color is due to the scattering of light by the atmosphere. When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight must pass through much more atmosphere than when the moon is directly overhead. By the time the moonlight reaches your eyes, the blue, green, and purple pieces of visible light have been scattered away by air molecules. That's why you only see yellow, orange, or red.

Fascinating footage and explanation. Much more interesting than clinical archaeological accounts which focus on the practical rather than the spiritual.

There is an area near these stones that if you stand still in it you feel a strange tingling in your fingers and hands. Not everyone feels it and i was very sceptical but i felt it much to my surprise!!! I got such a shock i moved and looked at my hands and it stopped!! When i realised on my third time standing still that i shouldn’t move when it happens i stopped feeling it.
    I cannot explain what happened

I was deeply impressed your video of Callanish. Thank you very much, I was able to understand the movement of the moon through LSS. I have researched on my own for over 20 years and I have produced a RUclips video. I can no longer go to Callanish. I can only imagine it looking up the sky in Japan. I would be happy if I could see on RUclips the movement of the moon at Callanish on August 4, 2026. At Callanish, the moon rise at 2:24 from Azi.156.1° and set at 6:10 to Azi.203.5°and southing at 4:18, Alt.2.6°. For more details, please refer to my RUclips ‘Megalith Lunar standstill Astronomical observation.

Peter, thanks for the video, wonderful to see. Quick questions; about how high did the moon get in the sky that night, and where did it set? Thanks in advance.

Magic place but what is seen depends on the viewpoint .
