Knowing how great the adaptation was in the first season, expect it to be just as good in the second. They are pretty much doing the entire Bondrewd arc on it. Maybe they even do the Iruburu arc if Author manages to get it done before they make 2nd season, tho I douby it.

Is it weird that one of the small details I appreciate most about this series is how Reg rattles a bit when he moves? Like, you can hear the metal bits in his arms and legs clanking together every time the camera is close to him while he's moving and Idunno, I just find that to be an awesome little detail.

This anime blew me away! This was one of those animes that I gave the one episode trial. I went in thinking it was a cute little kid anime that I would just skip. I was shocked at what I was watching. It hooked me, and this opening is such a great start to a great show.
This opening is amazing because it has a lot of foreshadowing. When it only shows Riko, it's always her going DOWN, even the camera goes down. Then, with ONLY Reg in the frame, the camera moves UP and he is always climbing UP. Then when they are together, they are walking horizontally, not down or up. When they are in the water (or their state of mind), Reg is unconscious. He is sinking or just unconscious. Riko, is content. She isn't moving, she is just... THERE. I find this opening very accurate and if you look closely, actually shows their fate, in a way. Perfect foreshadowing.
Also, you can see Nanachi, Marulk, Ozen, most abyss layers and even Bondrewd. This contains a lot of stuff only ppl who finished the anime (and read the manga) could notice

Episode 10 was graphic. Episode 11 and 12 were pretty chill. Episode 13 though, that shit really fucked me up with that mitty scene. I was in disgust of how cruel people can be.

I love how the cute character designs come together with the whole idea of the abyss and the almost steampunk aesthetic. Reminds me alot of when I played through "A Story About My Uncle" on steam. If you aren't familiar with it you should check it out!
I don't read manga but I've seen a lot of comments on the site where I watch the anime at saying this gets extremely dark later on and that's fine with me since I can dig dark anime.

Producciones Ola k Mira xD actually Made in Abyss has been the most successful anime in Japan this year.(strictly anime, ofc regarding manga Boku no hero and AoT beat it out. Maybe even others that I’m unaware of) but yeah that’s a huge step forward for Made in Abyss and it potential for a season 2 and more! Goes to show what a little of exposure could do, I think it could’ve been a lot more popular internationally too if not for the fact that licensing rights and what not. Still a good year for Made in Abyss regardless
I think that it was revealed that if the abyss is actually some portal to another dimension, and is actually were the Incubators come from, and all of the monsters are all Witches, that would probably be the greatest Anime crossover ever. Of all time. Apotheosis.
Gotta give credit for the work behind this opening. -at 0:00 the star compass appears. It immediately gives the word as it's an artifact that points towards the center of the abyss. The main goal is beneath us. It's accentued by the following shot of our protagonists going down. -starting from 0:16 every credit is written over their in-world equivalent that uses the language of the abyss. -at 0:19 and 0:43 basic visual storytelling, but efficient. We immediately understand those two are the main characters and share a link. -at 0:39 and 0:41 we are presented to windmills and flowers. Those two elements carry a deep meaning in the show, as they are present at every level of the abyss. Maybe a symbol of resilience? -from 0:46 to 0:56 we see our duo forming. Riko is descending from the surface with clumsiness but enthusiasm, Reg is ascending from the abyss with ease but fear. They are opposite but wants to be together. -at 1:00 first glimpse at Lyza. She also appears at 1:16. She's never in movement, but rather fixed in a beautiful white background, giving the feel of a sweet memory. She's a ghostly mother presence behind our characters. -from 1:01 to 1:04, is really interesting. The glitchy effect gives us the feeling of a step-by-step descent, and also the dreadful idea of corruption and instability that lays deep inside the abyss. -at 1:05, 1:17 and 1:26 they have this technique of using static shots of very detailed artworks. It sacrifices movement for aesthetic and it's one of the best executions i've seen in an opening so far. From 1:07 to 1:15 we catch a glimpse of different locations inside the abyss, giving us an idea of the diversity of its ecosystem without too much spoilers. From 1:18 to 1:20 secondary characters presented in rythm wit the music. Not special but welcome. At 1:24 we have the map of the abyss, giving an idea of its size, but also its mystery as the map is uncomplete.
Man, just listening to this makes me remember the joy, anger, awe, stress, hope, and pain I felt watching this masterpiece. I wish I could purge my memory and watch it again for the first time.
A story about an eager adventurer wannabe meeting an amnesiac stranger, the two becoming friends and later go exploring dungeons, that involve a floor-based progression. Yeah, I can see the resemblance ;D

It has been a long while since a show excited me this much. So far, the first three episodes are basically perfection. I hope it manages to keep this up through the season. And do a full adaptation of the manga once the manga finishes, because holy shit this is amazing.
Dark Hour Not really. I've heard that it definitely becomes that as the series progresses, but while the first couple of episodes had hints of it, that wouldn't have been the word I would've used to describe it. What I meant by perfection was that by the end of episode 3, it had a world I was absorbed into, characters I related to and understood, an art style that managed to convey the sense of scale and wonder this series has with a gorgeous soundtrack to help it, and I was never bored, confused, or felt like stuff was coming out of nowhere.
the manga writer writes about 1 chapter every 1-2 months and the manga is only will be like 1.5 arcs ahead when the season ends if it ends where I think it will.
MaskOfIce I see. I agree. The best part of the anime is that there is no best part! The animations is fitting for the artsyle of the mangaka, the soundtrack is just amazing, the improv for scenes that show the full brunt of what environment the Abyss has, and the pacing (up for debate, kinda), are all what makes this anime great! But obviously nothing is perfect and even the best things cannot please some people. The only downsides are the pacing of the anime (again, kinda up for debate), and the length of the anime. All I've said was actually just my opinion, but I guess some people can relate. On another note, based on what I said, in my opinion, there isn't actually any proper downsides to this anime except for the external ones. And the one other negative thing about it is the depiction of children, but that's about it.
Quiet........ People can't know until they adapt it. The problem is how they gonna make it, since their meeting with Ouzen at the second layer (that is about to happen in episode 4-5) the show turns up the dark fantasy aspect a lot. Sensorship must go crazy haha

Decided to find a new anime to watch before going to sleep. I click on this one. 5 hours later I crash after watching the entire thing Great anime. The world this anime builds is amazing, really emotional moments, and there are still a lot of funny feel good moments too. Best anime of the year for me and I'm crossing my fingers for season 2

I have to say, that scenes in 1:07, 1:11 and 1:15 are conected to the characters showed in 1:18, so the opening had "promised" the Bondrew arc, but never showed it. The story finished before that.
It really reminds me of Hunter x Hunter, it starts light and then you get into the real shit! The characters are lovable and the plot is super interesting, I got hooked on both very quickly

Personally, the best part of an anime to me is after I've finished it and listening to the soundtrack and especially the openings; It gives me an emotion/ feeling I never knew i had or could feel. I feel uplifted. Just letting your memories of the show flow through you and you get this warm feeling all around my body and I even start crying. It is truly one of the best feelings ever. Like reconnecting with a long lost friend. Its a combination of nostalgia, elevation, happiness everything in between. Its a true shame that there are people who have lived there lives never knowing this feeling.

Gotta give credit for the work behind this opening.
-at 0:00 the star compass appears. It immediately gives the word as it's an artifact that points towards the center of the abyss. The main goal is beneath us. It's accentued by the following shot of our protagonists going down.
-starting from 0:16 every credit is written over their in-world equivalent that uses the language of the abyss.
-at 0:19 and 0:43 basic visual storytelling, but efficient. We immediately understand those two are the main characters and share a link.
-at 0:39 and 0:41 we are presented to windmills and flowers. Those two elements carry a deep meaning in the show, as they are present at every level of the abyss. Maybe a symbol of resilience?
-from 0:46 to 0:56 we see our duo forming. Riko is descending from the surface with clumsiness but enthusiasm, Reg is ascending from the abyss with ease but fear. They are opposite but wants to be together.
-at 1:00 first glimpse at Lyza. She also appears at 1:16. She's never in movement, but rather fixed in a beautiful white background, giving the feel of a sweet memory. She's a ghostly mother presence behind our characters.
-from 1:01 to 1:04, is really interesting. The glitchy effect gives us the feeling of a step-by-step descent, and also the dreadful idea of corruption and instability that lays deep inside the abyss.
-at 1:05, 1:17 and 1:26 they have this technique of using static shots of very detailed artworks. It sacrifices movement for aesthetic and it's one of the best executions i've seen in an opening so far.
From 1:07 to 1:15 we catch a glimpse of different locations inside the abyss, giving us an idea of the diversity of its ecosystem without too much spoilers.
From 1:18 to 1:20 secondary characters presented in rythm wit the music. Not special but welcome.
At 1:24 we have the map of the abyss, giving an idea of its size, but also its mystery as the map is uncomplete.

Dark Hour Not really. I've heard that it definitely becomes that as the series progresses, but while the first couple of episodes had hints of it, that wouldn't have been the word I would've used to describe it. What I meant by perfection was that by the end of episode 3, it had a world I was absorbed into, characters I related to and understood, an art style that managed to convey the sense of scale and wonder this series has with a gorgeous soundtrack to help it, and I was never bored, confused, or felt like stuff was coming out of nowhere.
the manga writer writes about 1 chapter every 1-2 months and the manga is only will be like 1.5 arcs ahead when the season ends if it ends where I think it will.
MaskOfIce I see. I agree. The best part of the anime is that there is no best part! The animations is fitting for the artsyle of the mangaka, the soundtrack is just amazing, the improv for scenes that show the full brunt of what environment the Abyss has, and the pacing (up for debate, kinda), are all what makes this anime great!
But obviously nothing is perfect and even the best things cannot please some people. The only downsides are the pacing of the anime (again, kinda up for debate), and the length of the anime.
All I've said was actually just my opinion, but I guess some people can relate. On another note, based on what I said, in my opinion, there isn't actually any proper downsides to this anime except for the external ones. And the one other negative thing about it is the depiction of children, but that's about it.

5 hours later I crash after watching the entire thing Great anime. The world this anime builds is amazing, really emotional moments, and there are still a lot of funny feel good moments too. Best anime of the year for me and I'm crossing my fingers for season 2

I have to say, that scenes in 1:07, 1:11 and 1:15 are conected to the characters showed in 1:18, so the opening had "promised" the Bondrew arc, but never showed it. The story finished before that.

Personally, the best part of an anime to me is after I've finished it and listening to the soundtrack and especially the openings; It gives me an emotion/ feeling I never knew i had or could feel. I feel uplifted. Just letting your memories of the show flow through you and you get this warm feeling all around my body and I even start crying. It is truly one of the best feelings ever. Like reconnecting with a long lost friend. Its a combination of nostalgia, elevation, happiness everything in between. Its a true shame that there are people who have lived there lives never knowing this feeling.
