  • I got this bulb from eBay fairly recently, and it is unique in the way that unlike most HPS retrofit lamps designed for mercury vapor lamps (like Sylvania Unalux lamps), it can be run on CWA ballasts.
    The CE version of this lamp means it can also run on metal halide ballasts with a higher open circuit voltage.

    According to lamptech, the “FEC” ignitor stands for “Ferro Electric Capacitor”.

      Thanks! I presume it couples the starting wire around the arc tube to the live output of the ballast?

    We started using the 400 watt version of those bulb at the high school I work at in the parking lot in 1997.

    Cool lamp! If that green “22” were a NEMA label, it would be quite laughable because there are no fixtures that are truly “designed” for these lamps, it’s just a standard 250W mercury vapor or 250W metal halide fixture.

      I think green was used as a NEMA label for LEDs very early on
