Breakdown - Lei Wulong appears to be inspired by Jackie Chan's Wong Fei Hung character from the Drunken Master series. His hair, outfit, and moveset confirm this. Attacks and throws are taken directly from Drunken Master 1 and 2. The designers also threw in various animal poses from Hong Kong film lore, making Lei Wulong a fun, mythical fighter.

These moves are based on the original fighting films of Jackie Chan. The movies with his craziest stuff are Laughing Hyena and Drunken Master II.
you can see the drunken god carrying his giant pot at around 0:09 Drunken Master II (and there are a LOT of drunken wrist strikes throughout)
you can see the lady impressionist (a lot) every time he hits the ground and props his head up from Laughing Hyena when he hits the ground - first pose is around 0:13
you can see Elbow Drop from Laughing Hyena when he does the brutal elbow drop at 0:46
you can see Mr Jacobus being terrifying at 1:15 with the continuous body blows that made me be thankful it's a screen
and the secret form of both Jackie and Tekken's Lei Wulong - something I call the "Lo Duck" where you repeatedly punch knees (or gently massage a cat) until your opponent meows.
It's been a while, so I'll look in comments for Snake Fist - another from Drunken Master II.

And in the interview, he said they sought him out using his Tekken vids. Awesome right?!

@@Hamstergeval Considering that the whole purpose of drunken boxing is to throw off your opponent by appearing to be drunk, It would not surprise me that you’d think that.
It definitely involves a lot of theatrics, not very practical.
At first I thought he looked too western to pull own these oriental moves. But HE NAILED IT!
Love the video. :D Also I had a friend who learned fighting from early Tekken games, mostly from Tekken 3. He even had dun the motions right, it was like watching the game in real life. One day sparring with him I was amazed what he learned from only couple of months of playing games.
if you are still active, Laughing Hyena has some of the most difficult (to me) scenes of all martial arts films ever. The final fight, the pot dancing, the training punishment after he gambles - so much!

I just want you to know that I'm such a fan of what you guys do. I've bought all of your DVDs hoping that the proceeds go to helping you produce more content. It's not just the high quality of your stunts and choreography. You have a great eye for movement and where that dictates how you place and move your camera. You have good wide shots and long takes. Even your choice in sound design is impressive. One can tell that you've studied Hong Kong and Chinese cinema closely and adapted your own stylistic approach to Martial Arts on film.

It's fascinating, I'm seeing a lot of capoeira moves and openings for really effective capoeira kicks but Drunken Boxing and Capoeira come from very different places, but at the same time I see two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that could fit together perfectly. Actually amazing.
