This is a unique video. I could probably do a whole lesson just asking you how you think about music. Like the interval function of the notes and how you might improvise.I play guitar and that instrument is layed out in a way that you literally see the intervals and chords everywhere. I played clarinet 5th through 8th grade and picked it up again a year and a half ago. The clarinet seems to be a very rote instrument, which can be fun to just read as you’re told. Trying to think all the time becomes difficult if not impossible. I’m not sure how to visualize intervals on the clarinet. Makes me think you need to learn to see things on the staff. Anyway ,thanks for a different kind of video and I hope to see more of it’s kind.

Fun video. My old transcription sketch sheets are almost like brainstorming sessions. I think this is happening… quickly write down a couple of notes…the rhythm may be this….the measure may be grouped like this…check, modify, repeat. I think your tip of singing helps so much. I amazed at how hard a passage may be to hear. Then after the process, you see it on paper and it was just scale X or y.
I don’t think I wrote a true draft or formally wrote it until I got very close to the end. It was a big jumble of thoughts all over my sketch pad.
Sometimes I think big and go small. It is sort of nice to have most of it mapped out like a someone that does those complex jigsaw puzzles. Each time we listen and examine we see something new. You are looking for colors, borders, things that may fit like the top of this flower, and then trying to find where to place each puzzle piece. So great to use our minds musically this way.

Sorry after doing all that, how should you press the reed, raise the teeth together with the lip or press the reed horizontally or vertically, how should the lip touch the reed, that's the whole problem
