This is the absolute truth : on the morning of December 2, 1982, I was getting dressed for school, listening to the radio in my room. Suddenly, my 2 much-younger sisters raced into my room. Instantly, I noted two things, though both shocked me -- my sisters were crying and my dad was yelling. I was 15 1/2, a sophomore in high school, and could count on one hand how many times I had heard them arguing with raised voices.
I was in shock and time seemed to get caught in a surrealistic warp as I tried to make sense of what was going on. I began to hush and comfort my little sisters and then, my dad entered my room. I had just put my earrings in my ears. My dad's coffee was in one hand and I could see the steam rising off it. Honestly, I don't remember what he said or what I did, I just recall him exploding, slapping me very hard across my face. I know I didn't do anything to deserve it. I felt the hot stinging on my neck, ear, and face. My earring back poked into my neck and was bleeding a bit. Then, I realized that his hot coffee had splashed on me, too.
That morning, my dad was accusing my mother of cheating on him and ... guess what song played as he left my room ? LRB's The Other Guy ... 😐 I had always enjoyed the song (along with Lonesome Loser and Take It Easy on Me) and I still do. But, it will always take me back to that pivotal day ...

I don't think that was John Farnham in this one. He filled in for a couple of years when Glen Shorrock took time out, and said real nasty things about Glen when he came back, threw a tantrum I guess you could say.
He, instead, should have be delighted and thankful to be singing such great songs that belong to Birtles Shorrock Goble. But instead he chose the bad side.
Birtles Shorrock Goble are the founders/backbone writers and singers of the real LRB and they have been done like other artist in having their name, logo, and songs stolen from them.

While I remember hearing a few of Little River Bands songs on the radio way back when, we didn’t get much news on its members so I’ll admit never having heard of John until about a year ago. Now that I have, I’ve grown to become a fan and have downloaded a few of his solo efforts in addition to more of LRB. We DO appreciate great music here in the USA. Little River Band (LRB) are a rock band originally formed in Melbourne, Australia, in March 1975. The band achieved commercial success in both Australia and the United States. They have sold more than 30 million records; six studio albums reached the top 10 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart including Diamantina Cocktail (April 1977) and First Under the Wire (July 1979), which both peaked at No. 2. Nine singles appeared in the top 20 on the related singles chart, with "Help Is on Its Way" (1977) as their only number-one hit. Ten singles reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Reminiscing" their highest, peaking at No. 3. Only First Under the Wire appeared in the top 10 albums on the Billboard 200.

Where to start...Oh My God! I am a guy who has listened to, and really liked the Little River Band, but was never "wowed" by them. I had always thought of them as a group who were better than what they were given credit for, and just assumed that I was part of a large minority of listeners who was convinced that they might have found more commercial success if they only they had the ability to churn out a higher quantity of likeable tunes when they were in their prime. Then, I saw this video of them performing a live version of Reminiscing, and I was utterly blown away by how insanely good John Farnham was when he sang this song. During the time period that this video was recorded, I was always of the mindset that a studio recording of a song would always be vastly superior to the live version of the same tune...until I watched, and listened to this video. Wow, Wow, Wow! Farnham simply blew me away with his vocals on this song, so very impressive! I am now a bigger fan!

Little River Band are Amazing. They came from Melbourne - the name refers to the River Yarra which flows through Melbourne. I remember back in the 1970’s when they had made it big in the U S and they came home. They put on an impromptu concert on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. It was free, organized by radio station double j, and 100,000 people turned up, including me. It was an incredible experience. They could pick up 100,000 people in their hands and sweep us away to a place beyond everyday reality. Simply Amazing.

Check out the group America, the eagles, electric light orchestra, guess who, CCR, Grass Roots. Too many to name. Subscribed today. Great job!

People were appalled when this singer replaced the original. This newer singer did an amazing job but people weren't ready for all the different virtuoso stylistic additions he made and just thought he was a show off. Both versions are great in their own right.

Modern Rennaissance Man, TY, you have GOT to react to WE TWO live in Melbourne 1983. I saw these guys with John, on the 1983 & 1985 tours here in the USA. John is a criminally little-known vocal icons, who should get much more recognition as one of the very elites!
As it turns out, I know the writers of You're The Voice (great folks), which John covered.
Get well soon, John. Those who KNOW...WE LOVE YOU ❤❤
TY SMITH, you will be blown away...again, by WE TWO live! Thank me later :)

I have every 45 and 33 ever recorded by the Bee's from the 70's , I love them all even the disco , hell yes Staying Alive..absolutely any Bee Gee's song will do...To love somebody , I started a joke, Don't throw it all away..ect..ect..
