    You've really done the city justice -- I've always struggled with recommendations when people visit as tourists. I always think the city is best experienced for it's atmosphere rather than for it's attractions.

    • @destinationwellknown
      @destinationwellknown  Год назад +7

      Thank you so much, Matthew 🙌 I totally agree - there may be bigger castles and more obvious 'things to see' in other UK cities, but it's hard to find a better atmosphere than in Manchester.

    Great to see the improvement in my old home city. I haven't lived there for over 30 years (I live in SW France now). The change to Ancoats is extraordinary. It's not somewhere you'd ever want to walk at night last time was there.
    So happy to see it looking like the cosmopolitan city it deserves to be.
    I definitely plan to visit for a few days at some point.

      Thanks for the comment. I totally agree 🙌 I’ve been coming to Manchester quite a lot since 2015 and I feel like the city (and especially areas like Ancoats and Northern Quarter) are changing a lot from each visit. There’s always a new cool spot to check out and I’m all for it 😀🇬🇧

      I've lived close by to Manchester all my 44 years. If you've been gone that long you won't believe how it's changed. It's a genuinely world class city now you'd be pleased with what you find.

      The transformation started since c2005 when the Beetham tower was under construction. I've lost count of the number of tall towers that have mushroomed since then. There are countless building projects still in the pipeline and the city will double in size in the next 10 years. I have lived in and around Manchester in the last 50 years and one thing I can definitely tell you is that the city has become a very beautiful place to visit.

      It is a phenomenal city to visit! this video was a great showcase for it's attractions/attributes. By day the city bustles, by night it rocks and parties, it's architecture is beautifully emphasized by illumination after dark. Visit the Cathedral and Alan Turing memorial. Trafford Centre etc if you have the time. (in addition to the attractions in the video).

      My memories of the Wellington, Old Shambles/Sinclairs was when I worked for an architect involved in it's renovation at the time the Arndale was under construction. It seems almost inconceivable it has survived centuries and yet the last century saw it relocated, distroyed and reconstructed after bombing and becoming more popular than ever in it's new Hanging Ditch location.
