As a US feminist who has enjoyed this this show basically since it started in 2006...not offended. This is a satirical comment about what western culture in particular expects from women. I'm here for it.
It is also true. It is not so much about what the culture expects - men and women are different. And as difficult as "Eve's" behavior here is, I prefer it to my former co-worker's wife Oniko. She is very traditional Japanese - he is a pig. He met her in Japan while serving in the Navy. She serves him like a slave almost. She has to know that for years, Rod has tried to bang any woman he could. When I worked with him, I was single, and a lot of us were, and we would go out to the "pick up" bars to meet girls, and he always wanted to come with us - despite a wife and two kids at home. I told him once, "Rod, everyone here kinda likes you, but no one respects you." I recall him inviting a bunch of us to watch a big football game at his house. We asked what we should bring, and he said we didn't need to bring anything (we did anyway) but we got there and Oniko had laid out a spread of both American and Japanese food that was great. It got embarrassing at a point because she kept waiting on us, and he and she would not let us help her. But the number of times, no matter how much I love her (or because of it), I have been scared crapless by her, by just this sort of thing, I cannot count. I recall a day, when a rare thing happened - Lorrie was cooking one of my favorite meals and planning a romantic night. I usually did the cooking. My college friend Anders called me at the office and told me he was in town, and asked me to meet him at Dooley's - a favorite bar when we were in school. So I called Lorrie, and asked if it was OK, and she said something like, "Sure - go see Anders, have fun". As it turned out, her tone (which maybe another woman would have easily detected) was telling me "NO!" But we are different - I did not get it and thanked her and went to hang out with my old friend. I paid for it for quite a while.
I'm always amused by how literally people take this episode. It's simply about how not even the "creator" knows what women want -- for heaven's sake, Freud died still asking that question. It's not supposed to be a representation of all women either. It's just comedy. Having said that, I do know from speaking to many men, that this kind of behavior is not completely unheard of either. Please, don't be so sensitive. Again, it's just comedy.
How have I missed this before? Was just watching Doug, Pine Creek, when you called in because his monologue was boring, and this was mentioned. So now I have a whole lot of new great stuff to watch. Just love it. Thanks. Subscribed. Donna - Cape Town, South Africa. x
If I had a dollar for every time a woman told me something where apparently she meant something completely different and it had some sort of drastic emotional consequence for one or both of us... Well, I'd have $5, but the therapy would cost tens of thousands.
Pure genius - I love how many levels there are to this satire and how nuanced the performances are. Eve is awesome and you, Mr. Deity are a comedy god (or at least that's what your blog says so it must be true right?)
I have to watch this every 2 weeks or so! This is the most awesome of the Deity vids. The undertone remarks by the guys are ........just right on! Excellent!
That's actually an effect we put in after. When I first thought of doing this, I thought that "heaven" (for lack of a better word) should have some mechanical undertone -- like the starship Enterprise. That's what I was going for.
Absolutely! I'm glad you like that. The other conscious choice for the character is his inability to look anyone in the eye for very long. He's constantly worried that someone is going to find him out.
we're not innately harder to understand than any other given human being, we've just been culturally conditioned to both be in a perpetual state of doubt about the validity of our thoughts and feelings, and given unclear and ever-shifting rules about how forcefully we're allowed to express ourselves while the threat of violence hangs on either end of the acceptable range.
Finally! Someone explained where God was when Eve was being tempted. He was putting on a suit and maybe even trying to figure out how to tie a tie. That clears up *all* the issues I had with the creation story. Thanks! ;)
Hi debbie! Good to see you out here in the field. :) Yeah, another fantastic Mister Deity. Keep voting! There's more than one way to support this worthy show.
Mr. D's wife is Lucifer, or Lucy as they call her on Mr. Deity. She's the attractive blonde who walked in near the end of this sketch wearing blue and offering to wake Eve up.
@misterdeity Amen, Mister Deity! P.S. I'm a reluctant actor (being dragged onstage these days to act when I never expected it before, just because a local theater decided I'd be good!) and I love your video lectures at various conferences about how you made this series. I very much like knowing how things are put together, especially sketches as well done as yours. Thanks, Alan Canon Louisville
OHMY! I am having a conversation with God! Good points about the Bible stories not being consistent either. I so look forward to the interaction between Eve and Lucy.
if this was a half hour series I would definitely have every show dvr'd. I've just found this and it is amazingly hilarious =D and it makes good points. thanks for the great show and i will certainly donate as soon as i get my paypal back up..
I like that this actually goes over how men and women, usually, speak differently. Here, Eve expects Mr.D and Larry to consider her feelings, and Mr.D and Larry expect her to just take action. I like this. ^_^ Though, if I ever met a girl who responded like this, I'd have to either punch her or laugh.
@kuhlgi "Beautiful babies" is a reference to the movie, "Swingers," which I highly recommend. It was written by the director of "Iron Man" and "Cowboys and Aliens." If you like Mr. Deity, I think you'll like "Swingers."
Rosetta Stone... They were talking about the Ancient Egyptian artifact which was instrumental in advancing modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphic writing (and ancient language in general), or the language learning software, since they were confused and couldn't understand her at that point...
and THAT'S WHEN Mr D. created, the man cave, the bar, hunting/fishing, and a few particular "happy" plants (because THAT'S what it took to get Adam to "play ball")😏🤣🤣
Can't tell you how much I look forward to seeing one of these pop up in my subscriptions...would be so wonderful to see this on TV somewhere - it is becoming more normal to openly challenge/criticize religion (see Family Guy) so I would say it is definitely possible - here's to hoping that does happen!
@Canute27 What everyone with sensitivities misses in this bit, is that to me the joke was that even the Creator doesn't understand women. The other funny thing to me is that I think Eve is very reasonable in what she wants, and I don't think it's an unfair stereotype to suggest that women really do want men to know how to behave without explicitly having to tell the men. To me, the joke is how stupid and clueless the guys are. But take it as you will.
The closing line in this clip really cracks me up. Mr Deity avoiding confrontation. Classic! :) I'm not sure Yahweh would have handled things that way though lol.
"...cheese and rice..." "...we...I have an IPhone...it's got 2 megapixels..." HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just couldn't stop laughing

All these episodes are funny but this one was hilarious!!!! Definitely one of my faves.
"well, can you at least turn her down?"
lol

How sad that you had to explain that! People need to toughen up.
Twelve years later: I'm a woman and I'll probably die not knowing what I want. :)
I'm in tears with laughter. But my gf doesn't look too amused.
How have I missed this before? Was just watching Doug, Pine Creek, when you called in because his monologue was boring, and this was mentioned. So now I have a whole lot of new great stuff to watch. Just love it. Thanks. Subscribed. Donna - Cape Town, South Africa. x
Hey Donna from Cape Town! I’ve been waiting for you to catch this forever. Glad to finally have you on board! You’ve got 17 years of content! Enjoy!!!
I love the men ticking all the sexist boxes. Still laughed. Cause it is SATIRE!
This is Priceless! I have lived this scenario many times! 33 yearsof, "I was testing you, and you failed!
The actress playing Eve is absolutely beautiful.
If I had a dollar for every time a woman told me something where apparently she meant something completely different and it had some sort of drastic emotional consequence for one or both of us...
Well, I'd have $5, but the therapy would cost tens of thousands.
We don't have the Rosetta Stone! How did I miss this episode, I thought I got notifications for them all! This is hilarious!
The Rosetta Stone LMAO!!!
The "is she broken?" bit had me loling like crazy. I'll donate when I get home from my trip. Keep up the good work guys.
Pure genius - I love how many levels there are to this satire and how nuanced the performances are.
Eve is awesome and you, Mr. Deity are a comedy god (or at least that's what your blog says so it must be true right?)

This is brilliant! I just discovered this. Now I have to go back and see every episode. Guess I'm not doing much else for the next few weeks!
Man, these earlier episodes are so awesome. I laugh every time. Thank you and keep making these.
LOVE THIS!!! LOL! I would've loved to see you on a network.
one of the best episodes yet!!!!!
I know all the guys here can relate to this.
"Well we don't have the rosetta stone in our possession.."
LOL
I'm female and I LOVE this video. Comic genius!
"is she broken?" GREATEST LINE EVER!!!!!
extremely well done and witty....very clever series
I wish I'd written this. This is absolutely hysterical! I love the way the two guys look at each other while she goes nuts! Favorited.
Can you turn her down? Is she broken? LOL ... on the other hand, poor, poor Adam, what was deity thinking?
P.S.: You also missed one of my all-time favorite lines... Herpes is the god of regret! That's funny stuff!!!
BAH! I'd still get down with the raging fox who gave me herpes. She might have been a wine-soaked, superficial bimbo, but she was FIIIIINE!
Absolutely! I'm glad you like that. The other conscious choice for the character is his inability to look anyone in the eye for very long. He's constantly worried that someone is going to find him out.
'Are they all going to be this way???' ...mostly yes unfortunately :D
You're aware that I already had Man giving up paradise in favor of the female form, right? No one's seems to have had a problem with that one though.
Dear Mr. Deity, i hope you guys get a half an hour show! that be the only thing ill watch on tv!
we're not innately harder to understand than any other given human being, we've just been culturally conditioned to both be in a perpetual state of doubt about the validity of our thoughts and feelings, and given unclear and ever-shifting rules about how forcefully we're allowed to express ourselves while the threat of violence hangs on either end of the acceptable range.
One of the funniest
Stephanie Reibel. She's such a great actress. She just goes for it --- whatever you give her, she gives it back sevenfold (to be Biblical).
Priceless as always.
Instant classic. Thank you!
Finally! Someone explained where God was when Eve was being tempted. He was putting on a suit and maybe even trying to figure out how to tie a tie. That clears up *all* the issues I had with the creation story. Thanks! ;)
if momma ain't happy...pure genius guys...loved it
My best days can usually be identified by the release of a new Mr. Deity clip
Best episode yet!
you are a great actor I do hope your show takes off. I also hope their will be more of Lucy she is my favorite character.
"I was thinking coat and tie..." LOL classic, great job guys!
Great episode, once again. "You'll be the hero of thanksgiving." I laughed out loud at that one.
This is it? This is what people were SO upset about? Oh lord. Well done as always Mister Deity. Well done.
Perhaps the funniest Mr D yet.
Somehow, I don't feel so bad about being single right now.
She's good, I can totally see God falling for this.
Hi debbie! Good to see you out here in the field. :)
Yeah, another fantastic Mister Deity. Keep voting! There's more than one way to support this worthy show.
Great Episode Mr. Deity team!
Keep it up.
Mr. D's wife is Lucifer, or Lucy as they call her on Mr. Deity. She's the attractive blonde who walked in near the end of this sketch wearing blue and offering to wake Eve up.
This is the funniest skit of all time!!!!! REALLY!!!!
I would definitely watch this on tv.This owns.
This is still my favorite one. :)
Brilliant job. I loved it as usual.
@misterdeity Amen, Mister Deity! P.S. I'm a reluctant actor (being dragged onstage these days to act when I never expected it before, just because a local theater decided I'd be good!) and I love your video lectures at various conferences about how you made this series. Priceless. Even Mr. Deity can't fathom the female mind.
Mr. Deity is so awesome.
Speaking as a member of the Fairer Sex, I found this wonderfully funny. It's a **Comedy Show** , people!
Fantastic episode!
I would totally watch a Mr. Deity full show.
Hopefully you can carry a full half hour.
OHMY! I am having a conversation with God! Good points about the Bible stories not being consistent either. I so look forward to the interaction between Eve and Lucy.
You guys are getting better and better all the time. Good job again! Appreciated!
Definitely heading to the donations page!
a half-hour show would be AMAZING.
"Are they all going to be like this?" I laughed so hard it hurts.
BEST
EPISODE
EVER!!!
This would be the best sitcom ever!
Great work guys!
if this was a half hour series I would definitely have every show dvr'd. I've just found this and it is amazingly hilarious =D and it makes good points. thanks for the great show and i will certainly donate as soon as i get my paypal back up..
Best episode I've seen in some time =)
Great episode, will help spread it to some people.
Have a happy Thanksgiving you all!
why is this so spot on?
RUN AWAY!!!!
A really good video.
please more Mr Deity and ASAP
BIG G
Excellent, as always! You guys never fail to deliver! If can write a letter if that would help!
woot woot great show I love it so funny... reminds me of how I act sometimes lol
I like that this actually goes over how men and women, usually, speak differently. Here, Eve expects Mr.D and Larry to consider her feelings, and Mr.D and Larry expect her to just take action. I like this. ^_^
Though, if I ever met a girl who responded like this, I'd have to either punch her or laugh.
Hilarious!! "This is Larry." LOL!!! You are awesome.
Still the best MD episode EVER! I doesn't hurt at all that you got someone to play Eve, who would be able to distract a man from a god's command!
I thought the twist would be that the first woman is Lillith and the second woman would be Eve.
Word, I was hoping for Lilith too
@kuhlgi "Beautiful babies" is a reference to the movie, "Swingers," which I highly recommend. It was written by the director of "Iron Man" and "Cowboys and Aliens." If you like Mr. Deity, I think you'll like "Swingers."
Ok ya got me, I sent a ten dollar donation.
This show is just to damn good, along with Words
Yeah, she's adorable. And such a sweetheart in real life.
Excellent (and very funny) work, gentlemen :)
* Your results may vary.
LOL What a great show. I even love the begging sections!
I love all of your videos, but this one, puts the others to shame. This is the most epic Mr Deity yet.
Wow. Gorgeous woman.
Bravo! It's cool to hear from the level-headed. ; )
I would love to watch this in tv

I'm not sure I get what you're saying. Could you elaborate a bit?
Excellent! I have been there.
~LOVE~ this show

Stephanie Reibel looking VERY sharp here.
I love it when people get me. Thanks, Honey!

"Is she broken?" love it.

so awesome!! I love your work, mrdeity :)

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I just couldn't stop laughing
