Thankyou Ralph for sharing your knowledge on the 2600. I have a new one coming and have been watching your videos every night. I enjoy your clear presentation and enthusiasm. Many thanks from here in the Cook Islands. 👍
Thanks a lot for your kind words. Just wondering, is there a Music Store importing the B2600 into the Cook Islands? Anyway, wishing you lots of fun with your forthcoming 2600 Synth. Greetings, Ralph
Thank you for your videos on the 2600. As a beginner they have been incredibly helpful. I prefer to connect via cv/gate so my modular setup can control the 2600. Your explanation of how to achieve that was perfect.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! It's awesome to know that my explanations are making a difference for 2600 Synth users like you. Happy patching! Greetings, Ralph
A huge thanks to Ralph for all the enlightening videos for my 2600, it was a long time dream to own my own 2600 after playing one in college and several times in my career as a musician on bass and synth.
Thanks Ralph - timing couldn't be better as I'm about to start learning on the B2600 blue Marvin I bought recently. Really appreciate you sharing your deep experience. Good man!
I was hesitant to buy the b2600, because of its complexity. Then I saw your videos, and I ordered it. I just received it. These videos will be very useful! Thank you very much.
Wow, that's quite a compliment! Thanks for putting that much trust in my tutorials. Wishing you a great time with your new 2600 Synth. Greetings, Ralph
I'm the beginner that he mentions in the video. My main initial problem was how to stop the synth from a constant "drone" so that I could play it with a MIDI keyboard. The secret is two-fold. Keep the Initial Gain slider down AND keep the VCF into the mixer down. Use only the VCA into the mixer. Success! He shows that in this video, and I look forward to watching many more of his excellent videos as well. Thanks, Ralph!
Ralph I think you’re doing a great job teaching people about the 2600. I’ve been a user since the 1970s but never actually owned one until Behringer brought out their excellent clone (not quite the same but very similar). You’re teaching people who weren’t even born when it first came out (and I suspect you weren’t either). Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for your kind words of support! IMHO Behringer has found the sweet spot for their version of the 2600 clone. Perfect blend of sound, built quality, size and price. Thanks again for watching my content! Greetings, Ralph
Nice going, Ralph! The big thing that makes the 2600 (of any flavor) such a crazy cool teaching synth is because you CAN do tutorials via RUclips with it. I learned decades ago that it is perhaps the sine qua non of educational synthesizers...in addition to it being an incredible instrument in the first place! Plus, Uli really DID manage to capture its lightning and put it in the convenient 8U case...including the 3620's extra functions. I own one. But across those 40 years and some, I've owned a "Tonus logo" rev.2 with the rev. 4 3620 keyboard, and used various configurations of revisions 2, 3 ("G-clef logo") and 4 ("Orange"), plus both the 3620 and the very basic 3601 keyboard, AND the 1604 sequencer (and Uli really needs to cough that up!). It's indispensable...having a 2600, to me, is on the order of having a refrigerator in your kitchen. It's that useful. I've actually been considering a second one. I've used a dual ARP 2600 rig before, plus I've often paired it with my Digisound 80 modular. And with one of Uli's Kobol Expanders... it's like running the sound generation equivalent of a top fuel dragster! Honestly, if Victorinox started badging 2600s, it wouldn't surprise me one bit; it's truly the Swiss Army Knife of synths, and Uli Behringer deserves props for putting out a COMPLETE one (minus the keybed itself) for a price that makes ownership feasible (after Korg screwed up big-time on both the FS and M versions).
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with the 2600 Synth. I never had the chance to play/dabble with the Korg 2600 versions. The best 2600 clone I have ever encountered is this one here ruclips.net/video/-xeMqt2TqtM/видео.html Nevertheless I like the Behringer 2600 version because I think it’s the perfect blend of size, sound, features and price. Pretty good value. Like you I am also eagerly awaiting the ARP sequencer. I really hope they are going to release one. Greetings, Ralph
These video tutorials are also applicable to any of the software versions such as Arturia. I have used them succesfully to learn how to use mine. Cheers Ralph 🎶🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎
With some reservations most of the tutorials are applicable to the software versions of the 2600 Synth as well. For instance you cannot connect a CV/Gate keyboard/controller directly to the software 2600 Synth as I show it with the hardware in some of my tutorials. Thanks for watching my content. So glad you find it helpful. Greetings, Ralph
Midi omni out does not exist. No controller can be set to transmit on all midi channel. The best you can get is by activating multi zone on a high end controller.
That's and interesting idea. According to my information they have been using the Roland System 100 for the bass line in that song. But DM has also been using the ARP 2600 extensively over the course of their album releases.
What's the advantage / disadvantage of using a midi keyboard with the B2600 via midi versus cv? I have a midi controller that does both but I don't know why I would use one or the other with the 2600.
As I mentioned it in some of my other videos, I suggest to always go for the Midi connection when possible. This makes things easier because certain features will work right away without further patching as is the case when going the CV/Gate route. For instance Portamento, Keyboard Modes, Pitch Bend will work with Midi right away. You may want to go via CV/Gate when your Keyboard/Sequencer/Controller only has CV/Gate Inputs/Outputs or when you want to integrate your 2600 into a modular Rig/Setup. Greetings, Ralph
VG Ralph
Hello, I have not made a tutorial about the calibration process and I am not planning to make one. There's some Behringer documentation about this in the manual and/or on the website. Just google it! Greetings, Ralph
@@K.Reimann Behringer also recommends to have the calibration done by authorized service technicians. If you don't have any issues with your 2600 you better don't dabble with the calibration knobs.
