Jamie, the pink top looks gorgeous and I love the structural element too, so unique! And so much fun! I think maybe it’s a bit of a fantasy self piece and hence not gotten a lot of use - but I feel that we need a few fantasy self pieces in our lives, something that sparks joy, puts a smile on our face and something that we just love! Even if it only gets worn occasionally!! I’d say keep it! ❤❤❤
I got a suggestion to dye them black which I'm actually considering 👀 I love the shape/style - they're an excellent short and the cotton canvas is so durable/robust (which I personally love!)
Love the pink Eliza Top on you 💕 Jamie. The colour and style suits you very nicely. Would love to see what other outfits you could do with it. Will it go with a maxi fitted/pencil skirt?
It would look nice with something like that for sure! Sadly I actually had an opportunity to wear it last night but went with something completely different (less high maintenance) - seems to be reinforcing I want things to be easy to care for 🥲😅
Editorial is 100% the way to describe it! I think you hit the nail on the head there and just categorising it like that gives me more clarity to why I like it, but also, why I'm not wearing it. I actually was out last night and chose a completely different outfit when it was a child-free evening and it could have been the thing I wore which tells me everything I needed to know :/
Thank you so much for recommending the madewell bucket tote! I got mine after seeing you rave about it and it does not disappoint. I have always struggled with work bags because I didn’t love totes but it turns out I needed this alternative tote shape.
Ah amazing! I'm so glad you love it too - it's such a functional, practical bag which has the bonus of looking really chic too. Unbelievably versatile as well! :D
It's the perfect way to describe it, isn't it? I fall in love with those sorts of items and it can be hard to reconcile the fact that it's editorial and my life ultimately doesn't call for that 🥲
Ah I agree, a great, underrated brand! I've always admired their boutiques but it's really only been this year that I've properly explored the brand. And you are too kind, thank you so much!
It's surprising to me how many people don't like the design of this top (that's actually what I personally LOVE about it!) - I should have known better than to buy bonded satin though. I went out last night and it wasn't even close to the thing I wanted to wear :/
I like the Raey gilet and the Sezane skirt on you. Although you are conscious of caring for your pieces, since you’ve bought them already, you should just wear them. Don’t worry about potential stains and marks. Enjoy them first 😘
For a long time I've said, "just wear the clothes". I try to stick to this for most things, but some items I do end up deeming a little "precious", mostly because the maintenance is a little too much (eg. anything dry-clean only, lol). I think also you do get to a point where you can judge if a day will be a grubby one or not. Or I'll think about how easy the item is to clean!
The pink top is so whimsical and fun. But something about the fit is just "off". I can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't work. I would look for another feminine fun top that you actually enjoy wearing!
It strikes me that this top is definitely a marmite one - I personally love and I think the unusual shape is really the draw card, but bonded satin is just too high maintenance and I've noticed even for occasion dressing I tend to favour things that feel easier to wear or look after (which is interesting given if my kids aren't around, it's not a necessity!)
I saw someone walking around with an Alpha 60 bag today and wondered what it was! Also- where do you sell your items? Ebay? Recently moved back to Australia and don't know where/how to sell my decluttered (low-ish value) items. Thanks!
I ended up buying a couple items in their Boxing Day sale that were on my wishlist; I was eying up a bag but didn't add it to cart in the end. They are lovely! I sell my things on Depop just as you can follow people and it feels pretty easy?
Hi Jamie, what a pity the Raey gilet you purchased is not comfortable because you do look very beautiful in it. I know what you mean about the Sezane skirt, it's gorgeous and I thought you also looked very nice in it, but I also am very picky about where the skirt hits my legs, a pity though because they are both gorgeous! Best Wishes
I might see if a tailor can remove the layer that cuts in on the sleeveless blazer as that's really one of the main reasons why I don't ever reach for it (must be comfortable first, then clothing care usually comes next!). Absolutely, length is such a personal thing. And I do think the midi looks nice but I know I haven't worn it for the fact that it just requires more effort to think about the styling. Should take my own advice and spend some time trying it on etc with things in my wardrobe, haha!
One of the things that takes up so much time is actually spending time in our closets trying on different combos to create new outfits. my 5 boys are almost grown up now so I have a bit more time but I still find that I procrastinate much needed dedicated “me” time to do that. I have a closet FULL of clothes and always reach for the stylish but comfortable and washable because of my lifestyle. I forget how lovely some of my lesser worn pieces are. I have just come to terms with investing in the things I know I will wear day to day, but I keep a section of clothing that I challenge myself to incorporate and that has helped. Sorry if I rambled on but one of my goals this year is precisely dedicating time on the Weekends to trying on the clothes I have. I just love fashion and it’s clear you do too. Happy New Year 🎉❤
Yes this is exactly it! Especially when you have young kids that sort of play time falls low down on the priority list. I think a great goal to have for the year! :)
I actually love the shape of it as it's sculptural - which side note, nothing wrong with having a "beer belly" or being bloated (I look 6 months pregnant after lunch, normal after having kids, haha!) - and I think it creates interesting proportions too with your outfits. Definitely not one of those every day items :)
I LOVE the Isabel Marant Shorts. Love the colour and the cut - they look perfect!
I really need to make a point of wearing them as I LOVE them when I put them on

The shorts are perfect! They’d look so great with maybe a taupe raw linen casual jacket. Purple is also great with olive green. Love them!

The pink top is editorial. Really gorgeous, the beer belly comment is out of line, it is clearly just an interesting cut.

Loved the white T-shirt you were wearing, checked information list, could not believe it’s Uniqlo, I need to visit the store now😊
It's the BEST t-shirt - I recommend this to a lot of my styling clients too; a very, very good cut, plus it washes and wears well too
I agree with the other person who said the pink top is editorial. I don't think you'll get your wear out of it. 😀
It's the perfect way to describe it, isn't it? I fall in love with those sorts of items and it can be hard to reconcile the fact that it's editorial and my life ultimately doesn't call for that 🥲
Hi Jamie. I love Alpha 60 and have collected many of their items over the years. They also have great sales. You gave such great taste, BTW. ❤
Ah I agree, a great, underrated brand! I've always admired their boutiques but it's really only been this year that I've properly explored the brand. And you are too kind, thank you so much!
Love the pink, such a beautiful color. Hate the top on you. That pour ruins the bodice.

What is a pour?

Could you get the midi skirt cut to a mini by a tailor?
I think so! I'm going to try pinning it at home and see how it looks before I make a decision :)
@mademoisellejaime it might be a lot of material to pin... but you never know!
Maybe you could dye the Isabel marant shorts!
Ooh that's an idea! I have a friend who has dyed a lot of her clothing so I might get some advice from her as if they were black they'd be perfect
you can alwayS DYE the shorts black then you might wear them more!
Absolutely! Am thinking of doing this x

The skirt could probably be shortened if you don't like its length.
Definitely one of the things I'm planning to explore before I make a decision to keep or not! :D

Sorry, but the pink top looks awful. Let it go.
I actually love the look of it personally as it creates such an interesting silhouette! But bonded satin is just so high maintenance :S
I agree. It looks like you’re pregnant. The color is beautiful but it’s just too puffy . If it wasn’t it would’ve worked.
The silhouette is the thing I like about it! Much more sculptural but also appreciate it's not for everyone
The pink top is not it…doesn’t look good from the top or side, it creates a beer belly. Don’t understand the designer’s aesthetic…
